During a recent interview with TMZ Sports’ Inside the Ropes, former TNA Knockouts Champion Tessa Blanchard announced she is joining MLW, debuting at the September 12 Fightland event at Festival Hall in Charleston, South Carolina.
Several other media outlets also posted articles on Blanchard “signing with MLW.”
“I’m going to be starting with MLW here soon, and I’m super, super excited for everything to come…I think what’s been missing from MLW is a franchise, a name that the division’s built around…This division was built and now the franchise…well, I’m here,” she said during her interview with TMZ Sports.
It was during last Saturday’s episode of MLW Fusion that a vignette aired indicating Blanchard was coming to the promotion. MLW founder Court Bauer confirmed last month he was in talks with Blanchard.
CMLL issued a statement on Friday evening, noting that Blanchard is limited exclusively to her September 12 appearance with MLW and that there are no additional commitments beyond that date.
Regarding Tessa Blanchard’s participation in Major League Wrestling (MLW), CMLL announces that the agreement between the parties is limited exclusively to her appearance at the September 12 event, with no additional commitments or championship matches included. Therefore, there is no agreement between Tessa Blanchard, MLW, and CMLL that extends beyond this appearance.
Blanchard, who is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard, parted ways with TNA this past June after she said the company asked her to choose between wrestling for them or CMLL.
