AP picks up Perro Aguayo Jr. passing, Mysterio comments

The Associated Press has picked up the story about Perro Aguayo Jr. (Pedro Aguayo Ramirez) passing away following a match for the CRASH promotion in Tijuana, Mexico this weekend. Ramirez was knocked unconsious during the match that involved former WWE star Rey Mysterio and current TNA stars Tigre Uno and Manik. Ramirez was pronounced dead at a hospital a block away at 1:30 a.m. local time.

According to the story, the official cause of death following an autopsy was trauma to the neck and a cervical fracture. A reported investigation into possible manslaughter has been opened following the death of Ramirez. The Tijuana Boxing and Wrestling Commission has described the death as an unfortunate accident that occurs in other high-risk sports.

Commission President Juan Carlos Pelayo said the doctor in charge was backstage treating another injured wrestler when the incident took place. Paramedics shortly arrived at ringside along with a doctor who happened to be in attendance.

Former WWE star Rey Mysterio issued the following statement on Twitter yesterday.

“A friendship between brothers was just forming that began years ago and we shouldn’t question God’s design. But on this occasion I ask why and I don’t understand, I’ll miss you and I’ll carry you with me for the rest of my life, Rest In Peace Hijo Del Perro. With all of the respect in the WORLD my deepest condolences to the Aguayo family, I’ll ask God to fill you with fortitude and resignation to get past this great loss! May God bless you and fill you with fortitude!”
