The 11th edition of The Wrestling Professor's Weekly Quiz --- Nov. 28th, 2005

Welcome to this week's edition of the Armpit wrestling quiz. Every Thanksgiving is depressing for wrestling fans, because Thanksgiving was once synonymous with sellout crowds and the biggest day for wrestling of the year. But that was the 80s. This is 2005, and Thanksgiving means crowds of 150 at your local indy.

The only tradition we have left is the Survivor Series, so that's what this week's quiz is about: Survivor Series.

Most of the times when wrestlers die, we grieve heavily and then move on with our lives after about a week. It has been 2 weeks since Eddy died, and for whatever reason, it's still on my mind constantly. How about you?

A quick note for those of you reading this who requested our free sample of the Armpit. It was mailed out last Monday, so expect to receive it any day now, although holiday mail is notoriously slow.

Last week's winner:
Eric Strong, plugging www.blurty.com/users/outsiderwwa

Last week's answers: (Click here) for last week's questions.

-In that 1989 squash match, Eddy put over the legendary Terry Funk.

-Hector Guerrero was LazerTron on in the NWA.

-The name of that AAA PPV was When Worlds Collide.

-True, Paul Heyman called Dave Meltzer after the AAA PPV and asked about getting a hold of Barr & Guerrero.

-During the Malenko-Guerrero Classics, ECW was really starting to grow in Florida.

-After the Arn Anderson retirement speech, Eddy did a job for Steve McMichael.

-Rey vs. Eddy at Havoc '97 was a mask vs. title match.

-Eric Bischoff threw coffee during an argument with Eddy backstage.

-In that ladder match on Raw (it was 2002, not 2001 like I had written), Eddy wrestled RVD.

-Eddy beat Lesnar at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA.

Here are this week's questions. Please email your answers to Quiz@ArmpitWrestling.com. The first person to get all the correct answers to me will be declared the winner and have his/her name listed next week along with anything he/she wants to plug. Remember, once you win, you cannot win again for 3 more weeks.

Question #1
Survivor Series 1987 was more famous for the politics surrounding it instead of what happened in the ring. What PPV event was Jim Crockett airing the same day as Survivor Series?

Question #2
At that NWA PPV mentioned in question 1, what was the main event NWA title match?

Question #3
Survivor Series '88 was notable for the excellent tag team survivors match, which went almost an hour. My Italian relatives were glued to the match, and they hated wrestling. My Uncle Pino was blown away by the Rockers, proclaiming in his thick accent, "These-a 2 guys, they're-a ath-a-letes-a." That match featured a (very weak) babyface turn by what tag team?

Question #4
Survivor Series '91 was notable because we got to monitor the incredibly shrinking WWF physiques (we'll get to play a similar game over the next 6 months). Hogan lost his WWF title that night to the Undertaker. He even jammed his neck for real as a result of the tombstone. What dastardly villain outsider used a foreign object in that match to help give 'Taker the win?

Question #5
Everyone talks about Survivor Series 1997 from Montreal, but that wasn't even the first time Michaels and Hart headlined a Survivor Series in a WWF title match. What year did they first do that?

Question #6
At Survivor Series '92, Hennig and Savage wrestled Flair and Hall. Of those 4 men, who was making his return to the ring in that match, after a several month hiatus?

Question #7
Survivor Series '94 was headlined by Undertaker vs. Yokozuna. Ouch. Who was the special referee in that match?

Question #8
Before Bret Hart and Steve Austin had their WrestleMania classic, they wrestled at Survivor Series against each other. In what year?

Question #9
The Rock won a tournament at Survivor Series '98 to win the vacant WWF title. Whom did he defeat in the finals?

Question #10
Survivor Series 2001 was funny, because Team WWF faced "Team Alliance," supposedly consisting of WCW and ECW wrestlers. However, that wasn't the case. In Team Alliance, how many guys on the team truly came from WCW after it went out of business? Okay, it was one. What was his name?

Security Code

12. In case you win, please tell us how you'd like to list your name and plug. Due to time constraints, you will not be notified if you win, and instead will have to wait until next week when the winning name is posted. If you're playing just for fun and don't care about winning, you don't have to answer this question.

Please email your answers to Quiz@ArmpitWrestling.com. Results will be posted next week. Thanks to everyone for playing.
