ROH: Adam Cole off 11/2 ROH event with concussion

From ROHWrestling.com:

**NEW** MAIN EVENT SIGNED FOR CINCY
BRISCOE VS STEEN!

An unbelievable new main event has been announced for this Saturday at THE GOLDEN DREAM as Kevin Steen will now face Jay Briscoe! Finally, it’s the highly anticipated Supercard of Honor VII rematch! This weekend Jay Briscoe makes his return to the ring after suffering a serious injury that forced him to vacate the ROH World Championship. Back in April, Briscoe defeated Kevin Steen to win the championship and began the demise of SCUM at the same time. Kevin Steen admitted that Briscoe was the better man on that night, but has since yearned for his rematch with Jay.

It was previously announced that ROH World Champion Adam Cole’s status for Saturday was up in the air. After an MRI, Cole was not cleared by medical professionals to defend his championship so soon after experiencing concussion like symptoms. After much thought, Nigel McGuinness decided upon Steen vs. Briscoe for many obvious reasons. Both guys have been obsessed with getting an ROH World Championship rematch that they have not received since losing their titles. This weekend was supposed to be Steen’s opportunity. He’ll get the chance to take out all of his recent frustration on the man that ended his reign. When will Steen finally get his championship rematch? Stay tuned to ROH TV and ROHWrestling.com for all the latest news and announcements.

Jay Briscoe has finally been cleared by doctors to return to action. As a direct result from taking the ROH World Championship from Steen, and subsequently taking the title from SCUM, Briscoe was the victim of a serious attack that put him on the shelf for the last few months. Since then we’ve seen Jay hit “rock bottom”, have to hand over his championship, and then be the victim of another cowardly attack, this time by current champion Adam Cole. At Glory by Honor Jay Briscoe debuted his own personalized World Championship title belt and proclaimed himself the “real champion.” Jay previously stated that he would defend that championship this weekend in Cincinnati, but ROH officials do not endorse the defense of an unsanctioned title.

Despite not being cleared to compete, ROH World Champion Adam Cole will still be in attendance this weekend. Considering the way Cole has been acting since becoming champion he’s likely to try to add fuel to the fire in the hostile Steen vs. Briscoe environment. Who will prevail this weekend in what will surely be a war of frustration? Both Steen and Briscoe are boiling over their current situations and their inability to get a shot at Adam Cole. What sort of mindset will Steen be in after having his opportunity taken away from him within a week of his big match? How will Jay Briscoe react to ROH officials not taking his new belt seriously? Both of these men have nothing to lose and are ready to explode. It’s sure to be a must see main event this Saturday in Cincinnati. For tickets and information click here.
