We are just weeks away from ROH’s return to New York City! We are hitting Brooklyn for FIELD OF HONOR and the card is already shaping up to be a night you can’t miss! All titles will be on the line. We have an update about the Ring of Honor World Championship.

“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin is dead set on being the most competitive ROH champion of all time. He wants to defend his title at every opportunity against everyone possible.

He’s issued a challenge to all former champions, inviting them to step up and have another shot at the belt. In Cincinnati, we saw Roderick Strong do just that and prove that – although unsuccessful – he’s still ready to go at the most elite level any night of the week! We will no doubt see other former champions stepping up in the future.

Elgin also insists that the field of contenders be opened to those who haven’t had their chances yet. Men like Cedric Alexander now have future title shots slotted in and a chance to make their mark in ROH like never before.

But in the end, it’s up to Nigel McGuinness to determine who the TRUE number one contender is right now.

Due to recent events surrounding the title even before Michael Elgin won it, Nigel has determined there are THREE men deserving of this status. And he’s decided the best course of action is to put them all in one match!

At FIELD OF HONOR, the world title will be defended in a Four Corner Survival Match:

“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin vs. AJ Styles vs. Jay Briscoe vs. Adam Cole!

AJ Styles has unfinished business with Elgin and their series of matches has had then entire world talking. Additionally, as the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion he is automatically raised to the level of contender when you’re discussing the best wrestling in the world. But perhaps most convincingly, AJ Styles remains the ONLY man to pin Michael Elgin in 2014!

Jay Briscoe is a former world champion who – as he’s more than happy to remind you – was never pinned to lose his title. He still holds into that grudge and it’s a valid reason as to why he needs to be in this match. But also, Jay Briscoe has not be pinned in an ROH ring in TWO YEARS!

And finally, Adam Cole lost the belt to Elgin at BEST IN THE WORLD. He’s yet to have a rematch (though Elgin has certainly offered one) and some would say he’s been hiding behind The Kingdom while Elgin is gunning for him. Well, there’s nowhere to hide for Adam Cole on August 15th!

This is just ONE match for FIELD OF HONOR! We will have all the updates here. For tickets to this event, clIck HERE!
