Preview for indy shows this weekend in Alabama

We have two Indy shows with WWE Hall of Famers on the same night down here (which is very unusual) so hoping we can get more ppl to know about it.

Back in the 60s and 70s the Gulf Coast and more notably the Wiregrass area in Alabama (especially Dothan) was one of the hottest wrestling territorites in the country. Routinely the CCW and SECW would draw over 6,000 and 7,000 fans to their weekend events in the Houston County Farm Center. There were multiple NWA World Championship battles and even stars like Hulk Hogan (who started out in the gulf coast area with his first televised match taking place in Dothan), Ric Flair, and Andre The Giant came through the wiregrass. With the end of the territories wrestling in the wiregrass slowed down but even WCW and ECW would hold events in Dothan and Ozark, but in recent years wrestling has all but died down here. WWE holds an event in the wiregrass maybe once a year (and maybe 4 times total in the whole state of Alabama) while TNA has ran events here off and on over the years. Indy shows have popped up all over the place on the gulf but very few have stuck around. Fans have been starving for wrestling in the wiregrass for quite some time and on July 18th those fans will be fed plenty as two events featuring WWE Hall of Famers will be taking place in Daleville, AL and Ozark, AL on the same day. July 18th New Heights Wrestling holds its first event in Ozark, AL ever with “Alabama Jam” while Central All Star Wrestling will hold their special event in Daleville, AL!

NHW: Alabama Jam Preview
Ozark, AL (Ozark Civic Center)
July 18, 2015

On July 18th New Heighs Wrestling returns to Alabama for the fist time in years and for the first time ever in Ozark, Alabama. “Alabama Jam” will take place in the same building that ECW, WCW, TNA, and many of the old territories back in the day have held events in: The Ozark Civic Center. NHW was, at one time, a staple in the southern Alabama wrestling scene holding events for years in Florala, Alabama which is where I first saw the independent promotion. They have been hard at work to make this first trip into the Wiregrass a successful one with local promotion all over the place along with even featuring special preview episodes on WDFX, our local Fox affiliate.

Legendary WWE Hall of Famer “Bullet” Bob Armstrong will be making his return to the Ozark, AL area as he makes a special appearance Saturday night. He will confront the diabolical Dandy Jack during the event as Jack says that he has a “big surprise” for the Bullet!

Co-Headlining “Alabama Jam” will be a pair of matches featuring some of the biggest, hardest hitting stars on the Gulf Coast. First up, the NHW Pride Champion Jael Rose, one of the more well rounded wrestlers on the Gulf, will face the massive Mike Facen after Rose attacked Facen last month following Facen’s loss to Oshun. Also, former WWE NXT developmental talent Paul Jordane looks to recapture the belt he once held when he faces the monstrous Ryan Oshun for Oshuns NHW Heavyweight Championship! This will be the first time these two titans have meet one-on-one in the ring!

The undercard will be no less exciting either as the stars from the “Flyers Division” take to the air when Suicidal Soulja faces off with the masked Misfit. Soulja is one of the most underrated and exciting high flyers on the Indies and is a diamond on the Gulf Coast. Also, in what should be a technical masterpiece T-Bird squares off with Tony Storm and two powerhouses in Dunham and “Scarface” Waylon Barley collide!

In what should be one of the more intriguing and bizarre matches the sideshow freaks Midway Express will defend their NHW Tag Team Titles against the controversial powerhouse team of The Dirty Blondes.

All this and more takes place July 18, 2015 live from the Ozark Civic Center in Ozark, Alabama

The Card:
1) Suicidal Soulja vs. The Misfit
2) Tony Storm vs. T-Bird
3) NHW Tag Team Titles: The Midway Express (c) vs. The Dirty Blondes
4) “Scarface” Waylon Barley vs. Dunham
5) NHW Pride Title: “Mr. Handle That” Mike Facen vs. Jael Rose (c)
6) NHW Heavyweight Title: Ryan Oshun (c) vs. Paul Jordane

“Alabama Jam” takes place in the Ozark Civic Center (320 East College Street) in Ozark, AL on July 18th, 2015. Doors open at 6 PM and bell time is at 7 PM. Front row seats are $25, floor seats are $20, and general admission is $15. Free admission for kids 5 and under, $10 admission for kids 6-12 years old.
