PPV Predictions: TNA Destination X 2011

Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Destination X 2011 Edition
July 10, 2011
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Mike Tedesco and Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #3). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for TNA’s Destination X PPV. The show will be held in beautiful Orlando, FL.

The card currently will have seven matches. Since Mr. Valvo will not be available during Sunday’s show if they add any unadvertised match it will not count to the standings. Still, in order to maintain your Student Standing is to still send all predictions to Mr. Valvo. He will still update the standings during his vacation.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on WrestleView provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2012 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “WrestleView Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will only be one championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be one point. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But what, to the WrestleView “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the FIRST time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2012). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Current WrestleView Prediction Standings (As of WWE’s Capitol Punishment)

Tie-Breaker Points – Which are based on Championship matches correct

23: Nicholas Gray
22: Gregory Walek
21: Josh Boutwell; Ryan Rivera; Mike Tedesco
20: Jose Marrero; Dave Stephens; Evan O’Brien;
19: Greg McNeish; Anthony Valvo
17: Darragh O’Connor
14: Matt O’Brien; Andrew Hayman

There will be eight NEW Students of the Week that will post their predictions for TNA’s Destination X. They are Travis Thomas, Jordan Benterman, Brian Czygan, Frank McMahen, Ken Konarzewski, Ricky Langston, Steven Horsecroft, and Brandon Glover. All eight earned a 6-1 record for the Capitol Punishment PPV.

And of course, the WV Students average will be part of the standings. I have taken out the “Students of the Week” for this season. However, do not worry. Those that scored the highest will still be welcomed to participate in an upcoming article.

The Best of the Class (Top 3 earn a prize. Tie-Breaker Points in parentheses)

Prizes:

1st Place – A DVD Set of our choosing (max 3 disc set).
2nd Place – A T-Shirt
3rd Place – A Coffee Mug
Worst – TNA Victory Road 2009 (or 2011) DVD.

(W/L from WWE’s Over the Limit)
(Tiebreaker Points are in second)

Top 5

I will just type out the Top Five readers at this time. The first set of parentheses is the W/L record for WWE’s Capitol Punishment. The second parentheses are the Tie-Breaker points.

1) Jason Namako…………………………………………………52-21 (2-5) (22) – #1
2) Michael Fox……………………………………………………51-22 (4-3) (23) – #2
3) Paul Meade……………………………………………………..51-22 (5-2) (22) – #3
4) Nick Latham…………………………………………………….50-23 (5-2) (23)
5) Jordan Benterman…………………………………………..50-23 (6-1) (22)

The person with the most picks incorrect is currently 43-30 with 16 tiebreaker points. Therefore, I deem that score the worst.

Also to those that have participated in all PPVs, keep it up. This by all means is nowhere close to being over! Don’t give up!

And now, the moment you all have been waiting for…

Josh B. – LOW KI.

Gregory W. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Greg M. – LOW KI.

Mike T. – LOW KI.

Anthony V. – LOW-KI. As much as I want Shii..I mean Zema Ion to win this, I think TNA continues their streak of hiring former WWE workers (though Low-Ki was employed once by TNA).

Evan O. – LOW KI.

Matt O. – LOW KI.

Andrew H. – JACK EVANS.

Travis T. – ARIES.

Jose M. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Nicholas G. – N/A

Ryan R. – DOUGLAS WILLIAMS.

Dave S. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Josh B. – WILLIAMS. (mystery will be one of the GenMe members)

Gregory W. – MYSTERY.

Greg M. – THE UNSTOPPABLE ????

Mike T. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Anthony V. – MYSTERY OPPONENT. I think the mystery opponent is going to be Jeremy Buck, and he will have his brother Max as an ally to block any tactics by Magnus. I won’t be surprised if it is Anarquia from Mexican America.

Darragh O. – DOUGLAS WILLIAMS.

Evan O. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Matt O. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Andrew H. – NO CONTEST.

Travis T. – MYSTERY OPPONENT.

Jordan B. – DOUGLAS WILLIAMS.

Dave S. – KAZARIAN.

Josh B. – KAZARIAN.

Gregory W. – KAZARIAN.

Greg M. – SAMOA JOE.

Mike T. – KAZARIAN.

Anthony V. – SAMOA JOE. He needs a win more than anyone on that roster. So why not give him the rub and possibly build up something this him and a small feud with Fortune.

Darragh O. – KAZARIAN

Evan O. – KAZARIAN.

Matt O. – SAMOA JOE.

Andrew H. – KAZARIAN.

Travis T. – JOE.

Jordan B. – SAMOA JOE.

Brian C. – N/A

Ken K. – KAZ > Joe.

Ricky L. – KAZ.

Steven H. – N/A

Alex Shelley vs. Robbie E vs. Amazing Red vs. Shannon Moore

Jose M. – SHANNON MOORE.

Nicholas G. – N/A

Ryan R. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Dave S. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Josh B. – RED.

Gregory W. – AMAZING RED.

Greg M. – SHANNON MOORE.

Mike T. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Anthony V. – ALEX SHELLEY. I think the rest of the members are just fillers. As much as I want Robbie E to win the match, I think with Sabin still out for a while Shelley gets a chance to work on his own.

Darragh O. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Evan O. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Matt O. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Andrew H. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Travis T. – SHELLEY.

Jordan B. – ALEX SHELLEY.

Brian C. – N/A

Ryan R. – ROB VAN DAM.

Dave S. – ROB VAN DAM.

Josh B. – RVD.

Gregory W. – JERRY LYNN.

Greg M. – ROB VAN DAM.

Mike T. – ROB VAN DAM.

Anthony V. – ROB VAN DAM. It should be decent, but not great. Van Dam is paid by TNA to be active, while Lynn is a one-and-done deal. If TNA books Lynn to win, then I will be baffled.

Darragh O. – ROB VAN DAM.

Evan O. – ROB VAN DAM.

Matt O. – ROB VAN DAM.

Andrew H. – ROB VAN DAM.

Travis T. – RVD.

Jordan B. – ROB VAN DAM.

Brian C. – N/A

Frank M. – ROB VAN DAM.

Ken K. – RVD > Lynn.

Ricky L. – LYNN.

Steven H. – N/A

Brandon G. – ROB VAN DAM.

ROB VAN DAM 16; Jerry Lynn 2

Singles Match
AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels

Jose M. – AJ STYLES.

Nicholas G. – N/A

Ryan R. – AJ STYLES.

Dave S. – AJ STYLES.

Josh B. – AJ.

Gregory W. – AJ STYLES.

Greg M. – AJ STYLES.

Mike T. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS.

Anthony V. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS. I predict some tension between the two Fortune members. These two feuded before, and I think they will feud again after this match is over. Since I think a feud is going to happen, the heel wins the first match.

Evan O. – AJ STYLES.

Matt O. – AJ STYLES.

Andrew H. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS.

Travis T. – DANIELS.

Jordan B. – AJ STYLES.

AJ STYLES 12; Christopher Daniels 6

*** CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH ***

Singles Match for the TNA X Division Championship
Abyss (c) vs. Brian Kendrick

Jose M. – BRIAN KENDRICK.

Nicholas G. – N/A

Ryan R. – ABYSS.

Dave S. – BRIAN KENDRICK.

Josh B. – KENDRICK.

Gregory W. – BRIAN KENDRICK.

Greg M. – BRIAN KENDRICK.

Mike T. – BRIAN KENDRICK.

Anthony V. – BRIAN KENDRICK. I can see this match ending in two ways. Either Kendrick wins with help from Generation Me, Red, and the other X Division talents and give him a well-deserved feel good victory and use him as the face of the X Division (no problem with that)…or Immortal comes in, takes out the entire X Division and Hogan or Bischoff goes on the mic and say “The X Division is dead”. If this is the main event, I am going with the feel good story.

Darragh O. – ABYSS.

Evan O. – ABYSS.

Matt O. – ABYSS.

Andrew H. – ABYSS.

Travis T. – KENDRICK.

Jordan B. – BRIAN KENDRICK.

Ricky L. – KENDRICK.

Steven H. – N/A

Brandon G. – BRIAN KENDRICK to become the New X Division Champion.

CONSENSUS: BRIAN KENDRICK. Kendrick will win this match and bring the title, and some dignity, back to the X Division.

BRIAN KENDRICK 12; Abyss 6

Dismissal
