PPV Predictions: TNA Lockdown 2012

Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Lockdown Edition
April 15, 2012
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the Round #5 of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #4). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for The only PPV to be contested entirely inside a Steel Cage, TNA Lockdown. The show will be held at Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

The card is currently booked to have seven matches.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists, recappers, and radio hosts at Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2013 Royal Rumble or WreslteMania XXIX as we are unsure of the decision).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. You can participate by contacting me in any means under the “Dismissal” portion of this piece. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be four championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be FOUR points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the SECOND time in our four seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2013). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

The 2012-2013 Wrestleview Staff Standings (As of Wrestlemania XXVIII)

Predictions for TNA Lockdown

(Note: N/A means that a person’s picks are “not available” at the moment).

Non-Title Matches

Singles Steel Cage Match
Crimson vs. Matt Morgan

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – MORGAN.

Evan O. – CRIMSON.

Anthony V. – CRIMSON. I doubt the “streak” will end tonight. I think Morgan is a good threat though.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – CRIMSON

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – CRIMSON.

Jason N. – CRIMSON.

Matt O. – CRIMSON.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – CRIMSON.

Randy M. – CRIMSON.

CONSENSUS: CRIMSON 8-1. Though Morgan equals the power of Crimson, the majority think that Morgan won’t be the man to defeat Crimson, who is still undefeated as a singles competitor on live television.

Singles Steel Cage Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – HARDY.

Evan O. – JEFF HARDY.

Anthony V. – ANGLE. When I pick him, he loses. When I don’t, he wins. I won’t win this pick anyway.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – JEFF HARDY.

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – JEFF HARDY.

Jason N. – JEFF HARDY.

Matt O. – JEFF HARDY.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – JEFF HARDY.

Randy M. – JEFF HARDY.

CONSENSUS: HARDY 8-1. Mr. V was very loyal of his Pittsburgh hero, but the rest of the staff believe that Jeff Hardy will have Angle where he wants him.

Lethal Lockdown Steel Cage Match

Stipulations: Team Eric has the one-man advantage. If Team Eric wins, Garett Bischoff is out of TNA. If Team Garett wins, Eric Bischoff is out of TNA and must never use the “Bischoff” name.

Team Eric (Eric Bischoff, Bully Ray, Gunner, Christopher Daniels, and Kazarian)
vs.
Team Garett (Garett Bischoff, AJ Styles, Rob Van Dam, Mr. Anderson, and Austin Aries)

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – TEAM GARETT.

Evan O. – TEAM GARETT.

Anthony V. – TEAM GARETT. Garett has the world title winners (Styles, RVD, Anderson) and the current X Division Champ. Eric has mid-card level talents. I think it is a no-brainer.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – TEAM GARETT.

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – TEAM GARETT.

Jason N. – TEAM GARETT.

Matt O. – TEAM ERIC.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – TEAM GARETT.

Randy M. – TEAM GARETT.

CONSENSUS: GARETT 8-1. Only Mr. O’Brien went with the elder Bischoff, as the rest of the staff went with Eric’s son much to the dismay of one Scott Steiner via Twitter.

Championship Matches

Steel Cage Match for the TNA Knockout’s Championship
Gail Kim (c) vs. Velvet Sky

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – GAIL.

Evan O. – GAIL KIM.

Anthony V. – GAIL KIM. They booked Sky right, but I think in the end the champ retains.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – GAIL KIM.

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – GAIL KIM.

Jason N. – GAIL KIM.

Matt O. – VELVET SKY.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – GAIL KIM.

Randy M. – VELVET SKY.

CONSENSUS: KIM 7-2. While Sky had quite a run recently defeating some of TNA’s best knockouts, the staff believes that Kim will continue her reign as the champion in her division.

Steel Cage Match for the TNA Television Championship
Devon (c) vs. Robbie E.

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – DEVON (who really gives a sh!t?)

Evan O. – DEVON.

Anthony V. – DEVON. Not too concerned on who wins as we have not seen both since Victory Road.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – DEVON.

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – DEVON.

Jason N. – DEVON.

Matt O. – DEVON.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – DEVON.

Randy M. – DEVON.

CONSENSUS: DEVON 9-0. In the only match that everyone agreed on, Devon will retain the Television title in the Dave Stephens Special.

Steel Cage Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
Magnus and Samoa Joe (c’s) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley)

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Evan O. – MAGNUS AND SAMOA JOE.

Anthony V. – JOE AND MAGNUS. I think the Guns are not there yet to take those titles. Give them a few months.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – MAGNUS AND SAMOA JOE.

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Jason N. – MAGNUS AND JOE.

Matt O. – MCMG.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – THE GUNS.

Randy M. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

CONSENSUS: JOE AND MAGNUS 7-2. Though the Guns can be the Comeback wrestlers of the year, this match is just not the time to place the titles on them at the moment. Expect the champs to retain, but be careful.

Steel Cage Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Bobby Roode (c) vs. James Storm

Nick G. – N/A.

Josh B. – ROODE.

Evan O. – BOBBY ROODE.

Anthony V. – BOBBY ROODE. It won’t be the last time these two share the ring together.

Mike T. – N/A.

David S. – BOBBY ROODE.

Darragh O. – N/A.

Jose M. – JAMES STORM.

Jason N. – JAMES STORM.

Matt O. – BOBBY ROODE.

Greg M. – N/A.

Grash – STORM.

Randy M. – JAMES STORM.

CONSENSUS: ROODE 5-4. All the hype and promotion for this match could make this a classic. After the staredown they had last Thursday I don’t think anyone knows where this match will end up. From this columnist, I would say just enjoy the match and may the best man win.
