PPV Predictions: TNA Sacrifice 2012

Predictions from the Faculty
TNA Sacrifice Edition
May 13, 2012
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff

Introduction

Welcome to the Round #7 of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #4). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for TNA Sacrifice. The show will be held at The Impact Zone in Orlando, FL.

The card is currently booked to have seven matches.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists, recappers, and radio hosts at Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2013 Royal Rumble or WreslteMania XXIX as we are unsure of the decision).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. You can participate by contacting me in any means under the “Dismissal” portion of this piece. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be four championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be FOUR points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the SECOND time in our four seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2013). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Predictions for TNA Lockdown

(Note: N/A means that a person’s picks are “not available” at the moment).

Non-Title Matches

Singles Match
Kurt Angle vs. A.J. Styles

Nick G. – KURTIE KURT.

Evan O. – A.J. STYLES.

Josh B. – ANGLE.

David S. – AJSTYLES. He’s like the John Cena of TNA in my mind. I never pick against him.

Jason N. – ANGLE.

Jose M. – NO CONTEST.

Anthony V. – ANGLE. I rarely bet against a hometown wrestler, But given the storyline that his haunting Styles now I think Angle wins a back and forth match.

Matt O. – AJ SYTLES.

Greg M. – KURT ANGLE.

Darragh O. – KURT ANGLE.

Grash – A.J. STYLES.

Mike T. – ANGLE.

Damon C. – The look on AJ’s face spoke volumes after said photos were shown this past Thursday. A usually focused Aj will be worn down by a tactical assault from Kurt Angle. ANGLE wins.

CONSENSUS: ANGLE 8-4 (with 1 No Contest). With the latest twist in the Styles storyline many of the staff believe that this will get into AJ’s head. Angle should get the victory and possibly find a new opponent.

Singles Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Mr. Anderson

Nick G. – ANDERSON.

Evan O. – MR. ANDERSON.

Josh B. – JEFF NERO HARDY.

David S. – JEFF HARDY. I’m not sure if this is a WWE or TNA card…

Jason N. – ANDERSON.

Jose M. – MR. ANDERSON.

Anthony V. – HARDY. I don’t think an Anderson win does much for his character. As for Hardy, I say keep him in that title picture.

Matt O. – MR. ANDERSON.

Greg M. – JEFF HARDY.

Darragh O. – JEFF HARDY.

Grash – ANDERON.

Mike T. – JEFF HARDY.

Damon C. – Hardy vs Anderson…… Anderson is a true toss up. I will side with HARDY on this one.

CONSENSUS: HARDY 7-6. As Mr. Clark said, this is a toss-up. However, in the end Hardy should be able to escape Mr. Anderson’s grasp and elevate him to a title shot down the road.

Singles Match
Austin Aries vs. Bully Ray

Nick G. – ARIES.

Evan O. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Josh B. – ARIES.

David S. – AUSTIN ARIES has much more to gain from a victory in this match.

Jason N. – ARIES.

Jose M. – BULLY RAY.

Anthony V. – ARIES. I can see Ray doing a cheap tactic to win this match, but honestly this is my pick for match of the evening because of their work ethics. Should be fun, and an Aries win can do a lot for that division.

Matt O. – BULLY RAY.

Greg M. – BULLY RAY.

Darragh O. – BULLY RAY.

Grash – ARIES.

Mike T. – ARIES.

Damon C. – Love Bully Ray’s character right now. My wife feels he’s being pushed down our throats. I explained to her, when you have a hot heel you utilize him to the fullest. I love Austin Aries as well but I think this match will be too much Bully Ray. BULLY wins.

CONSENSUS: ARIES 8-5. Ray may be the bigger and strong wrestler, but in the end the majority of the staff predict that the quicker X-Division Champion will retain the championship over the “Bully”.

Championship Matches

Singles Match for the TNA Knockouts Championship
Gail Kim (c) vs. Brooke Tessmacher

Nick G. – GAIL.

Evan O. – GAIL KIM.

Josh B. – GAIL.

David S. – GAIL KIM.

Jason N. – ASSMACHER.

Jose M. – GAIL KIM.

Anthony V. – KIM. Tessmacher had the upper hand in non-title matches against Kim recently. I can’t see Brooke as the new champion at the moment.

Matt O. – GAIL KIM.

Greg M. – GAIL KIM.

Darragh O. – GAIL KIM.

Grash – GAIL KIM.

Mike T. – GAIL KIM.

Damon C. – I don’t see Miss Tessmacher holding the title here as I believe Velvet Sky will likely be the next Knockouts Champion. Therefore GAIL KIM retains.

CONSENSUS: KIM 12-1. Tessmacher may have won many battles, but in the end Gail Kim (or Gail Irvine) will find a way to make Brooke “Eat Defeat” and retain her championship.

2-on-1 Handicap Match for the TNA Television Championship
Devon (c) vs. Robbie E and Robbie T

Nick G. – DEVON.

Evan O. – DEVON.

Josh B. – DEVON (who gives a sh!t really?!)

David S. – DEVON, Champ retains cause I don’t know, why not?

Jason N. – DEVON.

Jose M. – DEVON.

Anthony V. – DEVON. Robbie E will take some bumps, Robbie T will do a power move, and Devon escapes because of a storyline lack of teamwork by the Robbies.

Matt O. – DEVON.

Greg M. – DEVON.

Darragh O. – DEVON.

Grash – DEVON.

Mike T. – DEVON.

Damon C. – Devon in returning to history by defending the TV title every week on television has been a breath of fresh air. I remember the days when Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson defended their TV title most every week on WTBS. I know I just dated myself. I’m not ready to see weekly title defenses end this soon. Also Devon should be able to exact revenge for the beatdown he suffered on Impact this past Thursday. DEVON retains.

CONSENSUS: DEVON 13-0. In a match with little fanfare, every member on the staff predict that Devon will overcome the odds and retain his championship.

Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
Samoa Joe and Magnus (c) vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian

Nick G. – JOE/MAG.

Evan O. – SAMOA JOE AND MAGNUS.

Josh B. – JOE & MAGNUS.

David S. – SAMOA JOE AND MAGNUS recently won these titles, it’s not time for them to lose the belts quite yet.

Jason N. – JOE & MAGNUS.

Jose M. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Anthony V. – JOE/MAGNUS. I don’t believe they want to ruin a good thing. Though Daniels and Kaz have the storyline, Joe and Magnus have good tag team chemistry.

Matt O. – DANIELS AND KAZARIAN.

Greg M. – KAZARIAN AND DANIELS.

Darragh O. – JOE AND MAGNUS.

Grash – JOE AND MAGNUS

Mike T. – DANIELS AND KAZ.

Damon C. – Kaz and The Angel are gaining momentum, especially after exposing the photos of AJ and Dixie. I will call a title change here as KAZ AND DANIELS secure the straps.

CONSENSUS: JOE AND MAGNUS 9-4. The challengers have a thing going with Styles and those pictures recently. However, this should not distract Joe and Magnus. The majority expects a successful title defense.

Ladder Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Bobby Roode (c) vs. Rob Van Dam

Nick G. – BOBBY ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Evan O. – BOBBY ROODE.

Josh B. – ROODE.

David S. – BOBBY ROODE. The Champ… retains

Jason N. – ROODE.

Jose M. – BOBBY ROODE.

Anthony V. – ROODE. I just can’t see RVD winning this match going into Slammiversary. I expect Roode to lose the title next month to Storm, so the champ retains.

Matt O. – BOBBY ROODE.

Greg M. – BOBBY ROODE.

Darragh O. – BOBBY ROODE.

Grash – ROODE.

Mike T. – ROODE.

Damon C. – Can’t wait for this match. RVD + Ladder matches = Fun and excitement. Too many guys after RVD to throw at the champ. No need to take the belt off of him now. I think Roode is in the middle of a Ric Flair type World Title reign. ROODE wins.

CONSENSUS: ROODE 13-0. Rob Van Dam should bring entertainment in the ladder match, but Roode will find a way to squeak out a victory to retain the championship.
