More details on Dragon Lee signing with WWE, Triple H comments

F4WOnline has more details pertaining to the news of Dragon Lee signing with WWE. News broke Wednesday night that Lee has signed with the company.

The report notes the deal between Lee and WWE was made several weeks ago, but having it be quiet until Wednesday night’s AAA Noche de Campeones was part of the agreement.

It is also said that AEW CEO and President Tony Khan was aware of what what was happening and that Lee & Dralistico were going to defeat FTR for the AAA Tag Team Championships with Lee getting the pin.

Just moments after winning, the new champions relinquished the AAA World Tag Team Titles after the announcement of Lee signing with WWE was made F4WOnline also notes Lee signing with WWE was due it being time for him to do so with the current situation in Mexico and the need to make money. NJPW, where Lee wanted to work, as he has in the past, was not an option due to their partnership with AAA competitors CMLL.

The report concludes by saying both WWE and AEW were interested in signing Lee with WWE showing interest when they learned that he appeared on AEW Dynamite in August without a contract. Lee’s WWE contract is said to be for “NXT money” and not main roster money.

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H took to Twitter to comment on Lee’s signing. WWE NXT also posted a clip on Twitter of Lee making the announcement that he headed to WWE, both which you can see below.
