During a recent interview by The Schmo from this week’s the Mint 400 race, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin gave his thoughts on John Cena’s heel turn, which took place at last Saturday’s Elimination Chamber.
Austin said that he thinks that with Cena’s heel turn, WWE has kicked off an epic build in to this year’s WrestleMania. He also added that it remains to be seen if the fans will accept him as heel, or if he has turned himself into that much more of a babyface.
“It had to happen sooner or later. Finally it happened…so it’ll be interesting to see, you know, whether the people accept him as a heel or has he turned himself more babyface. I think it remains to be seen as the story unfolds. Nonetheless, they’ve kicked off an epic build into WrestleMania. And that’s what they do every single year. And this year it’s here in Las Vegas, so it’s going to be pretty damn awesome.”
Living in Nevada, Austin was also asked if fans could see him at WrestleMania helping out Cody Rhodes against Cena, as the big two-night PLE takes place from Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, just outside of Las Vegas.
“Hey, I haven’t been in contact with anybody, so I guess anything could happen…but I’m here to run the Mint 400 and that’s what my sights are set on. I’m not looking to Mania, I’m looking to the Mint 400. I’ve got a brand new left knee. This is my first race back, so I’m going to go out there and kick a– and see if I can do as well as I can.”
WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium – home to the Las Vegas Raiders is April 20 and 21. The event will air live on Peacock in the United States and Netflix internationally.
