It is Wednesday, my dudes…you know what that means!
We get the intro video featuring Sum 41 before heading to ringside for pyro welcoming us to Beach Break. Commentary hypes the steel cage main event as Will Ospreay’s music hits, bringing the Aerial Assassin out for our opening match. Hangman Adam Page makes his entrance next to a big pop, Page signing a young fan’s shirt in the front row before entering the ring to a smile from Ospreay. Rounding out the competitors are their opponents as Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander make their way to the ring, before the bell rings to get this match underway!
Will Ospreay and Hangman Adam Page vs. Don Callis Family’s Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander
We start things off with familiar rivals in Takeshita and Ospreay, the two locking up before Konosuke is sent to the ropes…only to take Will down with a shoulder tackle. Ospreay is up and both men hit the ropes looking for the advantage…with Konosuke falling to the mat thanks to a strike from Ospreay. Tag made to Alexander as the crowd lets Callis know how they feel about him, but Ospreay is less eager to tag Page at first. This costs him as Josh keeps him isolated, sending Ospreay back to the Family’s corner instead.
Alexander stays on the attack before Konosuke tags in for a double-team…and then goes after Page to keep the ref distracted as Josh lays in more punishment! Josh goes out as Takeshita continues the beatdown..only for Ospreay to finally get the tag to the Hangman! He keeps Alexander at bay with a moonsault off the apron, before getting back in the ring to hit a Philly Driver for a two count. He sends Takeshita to the corner for a lariat and a snapmare, but Takeshita is back up as the two trade strikes.
Takeshita starts to take control, but is sent down hard with a sitout powerbomb that gets Page a two count. Page is hesitant on the tag but does so, allowing Ospreay to lay into Takeshita with some kicks. The two stare each other down before Page gets a tag to come back in, a double-team to send Takeshita to the ropes…but thanks to an assist from Alexander, Ospreay is sent to the floor and Page is propped up on the apron…taking a cross body from Alexander before Takeshita hits a dive onto both his opponents to send them to the floor as we go to an ad break on Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON MAX)-
Back from break, Alexander has control of Page before the Hangman gets to his feet. Page starts to fight back, eventually breaking free of an ankle lock to get the tag to Ospreay! Will unleashes a flurry of offense culiminating in a Skytwister Press for a two count. He takes Alexander back down again, but only gets another nearfall.
Tag made to Takeshita who hits a big Blue Thunder Bomb and a brainbuster on the Aerial Assassin for the cover…but Page manages to break the pin! Page is sent out as Konosuke connects with a Helluva Kick on Ospreay in the corner, but a double elbow attack by Takeshita and Alexander only yields a two count.
Alexander gets the tag now, but he and Konosuke each get an Oscutter before Will covers Josh for a two count. He sets up for a Hidden Blade, but Page tags himself in! Bit of an argument between them before Ospreay sends Takeshita to the floor…and nearly gets hit with a Buckshot Lariat! Ospreay goes after Alexander, but nearly catches Page with a Hidden Blade. After they stare each other down, they manage to finally connect with a Buckshot-Blade combo for the victory!
Winners via pinfall: Will Ospreay and Hangman Adam Page
The two stare each other down as their arms are raised, but Takeshita blindsides them looking to cause more damage. Chaos ensues until the Family is cleared out of the ring.
Video Package: Hype for tonight’s main event, as Jon Moxley defends the AEW World Title against Samoa Joe inside a steel cage!
Backstage, Top Flight goes off on MJF after he attacked them last week before turning their attention to the Hurt Syndicate. Dustin Rhodes gives them their props as he and Sammy Guevara say they will be watching.
We head back to ringside as Ricochet heads down the ramp, still holding onto Zach Gowen’s prosthetic leg as we look back at what happened on Collision to set this match up. Zach Gowen makes his way out next, using crutches though anyone who remembers him from 2003 will know he is just fine in the ring with one leg once that bell rigns. Gowen enters and we get this match underway!
Ricochet vs. Zach Gowen
Ricochet starts to mock Gowen, who sets a base up for himself calling Ricochet to meet him on the ground. Zach’s unique manner of movement trips Ricochet out, to where he leaves the ring refusing to get into it…only to find himself in range of a dive by Gowen to send him to the floor! Gowen gets Ricochet in a side headlock, smacking him on the head as a measure of revenge before getting a high five with his son…but this only gives Ricochet an opening as he sends Gowen into the barricade and to the floor as we go to ad break on Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON MAX)-
Back from break, Ricochet has brought Gowen back into the ring and goes up top for a 450 splash…but Gowen gets out of the way, forcing him to the outside instead. Gowen is on the ropes as Ricochet tries to go for the attack…and gets hung up on his little bullets instead!
Gowen gets to a standing position in the corner, only for Ricochet to lay in some strikes to knock him down. 450 splash connects for the cover, but Gowen kicks out! Ricochet takes him down again for a shooting star press…but Gowen manages to kick out of the following pin attempt! Ricochet is frustrated as he hits Zach with a Vertigo…but even that’s not enough to keep Gowen down!
Ricochet leaves the ring for his scissors, but the ref pulls them away. As he goes to get them put away, Gowen grabs his prosthetic leg to hit a boot (sorta) on Ricochet! This gets him a nearfall as he goes up top for a moonsault…but Ricochet rolls out of the way, hitting a Spirit Gun for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Ricochet
Ricochet is a bit of a sore winner, however, as he hits another Spirit Gun on Gowen. He continues the beatdown until Mark Briscoe runs down for the save, clearing Ricochet from the ring and taking Gowen’s leg to stop another theft.
Backstage, we hear from MJF as he awaits Bobby Lashley’s answer. He talks about how important it is for the Hurt Syndicate to do business with him, and MVP cuts him off to invite him to the ring after the tag champs have their match tonight.
With that, we head back to ringside for our next match. Hurt Syndicate head to the ring, and out next are Top Flight as they look to get the match that didn’t happen last week. Top Flight enter the ring, and this match gets underway!
The Hurt Syndicate vs. Top Flight
Benjamin goes after both Darius and Dante but they get the advantage on him, keeping Lashley away from a tag before Dante hits a dive that is followed by a Darius tope. Back in the ring, Darius hits a sling blade and Dante gets a frog splash for a two count. Lashley goes after him before making the tag, sending Darius to the corner for some more hurt (ha!) and a nearfall. Tag made back to Benjamin who hits a release German suplex, laying in some more punishment for a tag to Lashley as Dante tags in…only to be laid out by Bobby!
Benjamin clears Darius away from the ring as Lashley locks in the Hurt Lock, and Dante is out cold as the ref calls for the bell!
Winners via pinfall: The Hurt Syndicate
The beatdown continues on Dante until Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara come out to put a stop to it, running them down before issuing a potential challenge for the AEW tag titles. This is interrupted by the arrival of Cru, with Action Andretti running the ROH tag champions. The crowd is telling them to shut up as Lio Rush addresses the champions in the ring. Cru want a shot at the titles, but Dustin tells them they’re not gonna cut in line.
The confrontation is interrupted by MVP telling them they can fight it out on Collision, and the winners can get their AEW tag title opportunity. MVP then addresses the short amount of time they have till commercial, asking fans to stick around as MJF is finally going to get what he deserves when we come back.
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, the Hurt Syndicate are still in the ring as MVP says it’s time for MJF to get what’s coming to him. MJF’s music hits, but the former AEW World Champion does not come out. Benjamin is asked to help MJF find his way to the ring, and Benjamin heads to the go position where Tony Khan points to MJF sitting behind Jerry Lynn with a smile on his face. MJF says he was about to pitch to them as he is brought out to ringside.
He gets in the ring as MVP tells him it’s the day of his reckoning. These gentlemen have had their discussion and know what’s coming. MVP gives his thumbs up before Shelton follows with a thumbs up as well. Lashley walks over to MJF with a smile and a hug, before revealing a thumbs up…going into a thumbs down…and back and forth as it almost looks like Shelton is about to lay MJF out…but alas, Lashley gives a thumbs up!
MJF is elated as MVP congratulates him, and MJF leads a “we hurt people” chant as MVP announces that next week they will have MJF officially sign into the Hurt Syndicate. MJF opens the ropes for his new crewmates as commentary hypes up tonight’s main event.
-Commercial Break-
We head back to ringside where Toni Storm makes her way to the ring for our next match. She has a tall task ahead of her in this Title Eliminator Match, as she enters the ring before AZM makes her way out next. We get a look back at NJPW Resurgence where AZM won the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship by pinning Mina Shirakawa in a triple threat…and out next is that same woman, as Mina makes her way to the ring. Rounding out the competitors is the returning Skye Blue, getting a nice pop from the Chicago-ish crowd as she heads down the ramp. Skye gets into the ring and this match is underway!
AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match: Toni Storm vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Skye Blue vs. AZM
Mina charges after AZM to pick up where they left off at Resurgence, while Storm and Skye fight to the outside. Mina gets a nearfall before AZM fights back, catching Mina with a crucifix pin for a two count. The two end up fighting to the outside as Mina hits a DDT sending AZM to the floor as Blue and Toni make their way back into the ring.
Skye hits a DDT off the ropes on Storm, but is met with an attack from AZM before the two trade strikes. They both hit the ropes but are tripped up by Storm and Mina, who enter the ring to face off. AZM and Skye enter the ring and all four women go at it, with Mina and Storm getting the upper hand respectively. They face off once more before trading strikes.
Storm reverses an Irish whip as AZM hits a clothesline, but Mina gets back to her feet. Toni finds herself entangled in a Figure Four leglock as Mina hits a DDT on AZM…but the champ gets to the ropes to break the hold. Mina goes after AZM after Storm heads to the outside, only for Shirakawa to get a dive onto her…and then AZM hits a dive of her own, before Blue gets the drop on all three of her opponents as we go to an ad break on Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON MAX)-
Back from break, all four women get to their feet to pair off between Skye and Storm and Mina and AZM. The two titleholders are dropped to the mat as Blue and Shirakawa trade strikes now, but they get taken down as Storm hits a suplex on AZM sending her to the corner…and with all three opponent in the corners, the champ runs the bases with hip attacks! Mina is up and goes after her until AZM and Skye get involved, with AZM being sent to the outside before Mina goes after Blue…until she gets hit with a dropkick by Storm!
She clears the ring before hitting a Sky High on Skye Blue…but turns her attention to Mina instead of pinning, and this costs her as Mina sends her out before going after Blue. Code Blue is blocked as AZM comes in, who counters out of another attempt to drop Skye for a nearfall before Storm breaks it up! Storm Zero on AZM for the cover, but Mina breaks the pin to save the match for herself!
Rolling elbow by Mina, Storm dodges a second one for a small package…but Mina counters with a small package of her own for the pin and the win!
Winner via pinfall: Mina Shirakawa
Mina celebrates in the ring as AZM is helped up the ramp…only to be blindsided by Mercedes Moné! She looks for revenge on the woman who won her title at Resurgence, locking in a Statement Maker before Jamie Hayter runs in for the save. She makes Mercedes tap to a Statement Maker before being pulled away by officials.
Commentary honors the memory of Terry “Sabu” Brunk amidst a look back at his storied career, and Taz gives his thoughts on his late rival before commentary points to the sky in Sabu’s honor to take us to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
We head backstage to hear from MJF ahead of signing to the Hurt Syndicate, before Mark Sterling pops his head in to say hello. MVP asks about the presence of the lawyer, but Friedman insists it’s just a business matter as one would not want to sign a contract without legal representation. MVP agrees and they shake hands before walking off.
Back at ringside we hear from Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness, with Nigel apologizing to Tony for his actions at Collision. He offers an apology to Daniel Garcia as well as the latter makes his way to the ring, and we get a look back at what went down last Thursday night. Nigel apologizes to Garcia, admitting his place is at the announce table and not inside the ring…but Garcia says he can keep his apology to himself. He did exactly what he was supposed to do, FTR disrespected him and he stood up for himself.
FTR have tried to end the career of Garcia and Copeland, and perhaps Nigel as well. He’s gonna fight these guys with or without Nigel, but it would be an honor if he would stand beside him and fight FTR. This brings out Big Stoke running Daniel and Nigel down, with FTR not here tonight as he says Nigel’s actions were egregious. He asks Nigel what his problem is, to which Nigel says when someone puts their hands on him he puts his hands on them.
Stoke mocks his fake apology before telling Nigel there are consequences for his actions. FTR and Stoke talked it over, and Nigel’s punishment should be getting in the ring with the greatest tag team alive in an official match, so that they wouldn’t be suspended for what they’ll do to him. Nigel knows they might kill him so he initially turns down wrestling, but Garcia talks about seeing Nigel overcoming the odds his entire career.
Stoke continues to poke the bear as he talks about Nigel being the Al Bundy of AEW, trying to relive his glory days. There’s no way Nigel can beat FTR, he could barely beat hepatitis. This causes Nigel to drop the mic, possibly looking to square up with Big Stoke…but FTR blindside him and Garcia instead! They start a beatdown until Daddy Magic runs to the ring for the save, forcing FTR and Stoke to regroup up the ramp. Dax tears a pro-FTR sign out of frustration as commentary hypes up Collision Beach Break.
Up next, however, is our main event as we see the steel cage up high ready to be brought down for a massive AEW World Title bout between Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe!
-Commercial Break-
There’s been enough talk…it’s time for our main event!
Back at ringside, Samoa Joe makes his way down as we see the steel cage in place for this World Title bout. Out next is Jon Moxley, with Marina Shafir walking beside him holding the briefcase presumably containing the AEW World Championship as the pair head through the crowd to get to ringside. Mox enters the ring as Shafir hands over the briefcase, and the steel cage is locked before this main event gets underway!
AEW World Championship Steel Cage Match: Jon Moxley defends against Samoa Joe
The pair circle around the canvas before going after each other, with the challenger fighting out of the corner before sending Mox into the cage wall. Joe does it again and we see the champ is worn down already, allowing Joe to continue the beatdown. Back in the corner now, as Mox fights back with some chops before Joe forces him to the corner once more for some stomps and a running boot to the face.
Joe takes the champ to the mat for a two count, before Mox fights him off in the corner to take control. He goes after the leg of Joe now, setting up for a stomp on it before cinching in a Figure Four leglock! Joe is struggling to break free, turning over to reverse the pressure before forcing a rope break. Mox catches the challenger with a big boot to take control of the match, as we go to an ad break on Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON MAX)-
Back from break, Joe has managed to get back into this as we see the champ busted open. The two men trade strikes as we notice Death Riders and Willow and Powerhouse Hobbs out at ringside keeping an eye on things. Mox takes control before heading to the corner, looking to escape before Joe sends him down with an atomic drop twice over. Senton by Joe gets him a two count before the champ kicks out. Mox escapes to the ropes to stop Joe’s momentum, only for the challenger to intercept him in the corner.
Mox takes a bit out of Joe before hopping to the mat, only to take a chop by the challenger! Mox fights back with some strikes before Joe hits a boot…and Mox responds with a cutter for a cover and the two count. Mox looks for a cross arm breaker but Joe clasps his arms to fight it off…but Mox goes for the bulldog choke instead!
Joe is fading as the ref checks his arm. Once it drops, twice it drops…but on the third check he keeps the arm up, fighting back to his feet! It’s all for naught as Mox drops him with a Paradigm Shift and the cover…but the challenger kicks out!
Joe escapes a second Paradigm Shift attempt, locking in the Coquina Clutch. Claudio climbs up the side of the cage but is cut off by Willow, with Yuta facing the wrath of Powerhouse Hobbs on the other side. We soon see someone in a hoodie handing over the briefcase to Mox, who lands a nasty shot on Joe for the pin and the win to retain!
Winner via pinfall and still AEW World Champion: Jon Moxley
We soon see who handed Mox the briefcase as Gabe Kidd takes his hood off, shouting as he backs up the ramp. The cage is raised as Hobbs goes after Kidd on the ramp, only to take a shot in the back by Castagnoli that barely fazes him. Kidd, however, drops the Powerhouse with a low blow before he heads into the ring with the Death Riders.
The Young Bucks make their way to the ring now, looking to shake hands with the champ before Kenny Omega runs down the ramp. He fights them off until Okada comes running down, sending Omega into the ring before the Riders and Bucks lay in a beatdown as the cage is lowered back down. Bailey fights off Okada to the back while the Bucks and the Riders continue beating up Joe and Omega…until Swerve Strickland makes his way down!
He goes up the side of the cage, getting the drop on the group inside for the save! Matthew is trying to get the cage back up so they can make their escape, regrouping on the ramp as Swerve addresses being back in this city after what happened at All Out 2024. He calls himself the fear, the most dangerous man in AEW, and talks about wanting to cause a little…anarchy. Double Or Nothing…Phoenix, Arizona…Anarchy in the Arena!
Swerve’s music hits, as we see the Riders and Bucks looking none too pleased about the challenge as Dynamite comes to a close.
