During the recent Amazon upfronts to promote his new film ‘Heads of State’ Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena spoke with Us Weekly offering up his date night advice.
Cena’s advice? Well, the 17-time world champion says it could be so simple. “Put your f’n phone at home.”
“Honestly it could be so simple. Put your f’n phone at home. Not in your pocket, I don’t even bring it with me. You only need one person to dial 911, so only one phone, that way we’re both present. And when you’re there, you’re there. If your mind is scattered, and you’re not ready yet, take like a 5-minute (break), tell the person you’re with like ‘man I don’t know if I’m in the headspace to be here’, but when you’re there, you’re there.”
Cena and his wife Shay Shariatzadeh got married back in 2020. The two first met in Canada while Cena was filming the movie ‘Playing with Fire.’ They began dating soon after Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella split.
During the beginning of the interview, when asked about the film and if he would ever run for president in real-life.
“I know that’s going to be a question on a lot of people’s mind’s…this is a movie. I am playing a role in a buddy action comedy. I just happen to wear a suit and say my character is in the oval office. I think that is about as far as we can take that.”
Heads of State is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on Wednesday, July 2. The trailer for the film can be seen below:
