Viva La Raza! # Dieciocho: Lucha Weekly
March 20, 2009
By: Josh Boutwell of WrestleView.com

It’s been a big week for AAA, not so much for CMLL or any of the INDY’s so I?m going to start off with AAA this week. Other than AAA it has been extremely slow this week but things should pick up tomorrow and going into next week with CMLL’s Leyandas taping and another AAA TV Taping on Friday.

AAA

Marco Corleone (Mark Jindrak), Juventud Guerrera, & Dr. Wagner Jr. jump to AAA!
It was a huge week for AAA in terms of picking up some big time talents. Juventud was the first (in terms of showing up in the show) to make the jump to AAA. Juventud left AAA back in August of last year and has been competing mostly on the INDY scene along with wrestling for the NWE over in Europe and he is still the NWE Cruiserweight Champion to my knowledge. Juventud made his surprise return at the end of the X-Pac, Alex Koslov, & Charly Manson vs. Hart Foundation 2.0 & El Zorro match and helped DMEX & Manson win.

Afterwards he vowed to end La Legion for good. The day after the Rey de Reyes taping Juventud thanked AAA in a press conference for welcoming him back and said that he and AAA worked out their differences. He clarified that he hadn?t joined D-Generation MEX but he liked their style and it’s an option, but he still is very fond of the Mexican Powers (which he founded several years ago). I smell a DMEX vs. Mexican Powers feud coming over who gets Juvi. Great to see him back with AAA though as now we?ll get to see him in the ring more.

Marco officially made his debut in AAA at “Rey de Reyes” shocking most people (including me) as Marco has said over and over that he wasn’t leaving CMLL when the rumors started several months ago. Marco helped Vampiro when his Seconds Hair Match (full results below) and there have been talks about him joining D-Generatino MEX and if that’s true then DMEX went from being a upper midcard group to one of the top groups in all of a Lucha Libre in one night with Juvi (if he joins) and Marco joining. Marco talked about his jump in a blog post and said that he had gone as far as a foreigner simply can go in CMLL, and talked about CMLL not giving him the push that he should’ve been given due to how over he was with the crowd. He also talked about being there for more than 2 1/2 years and not getting one Championship (which I agree with) and how CMLL refuses to do more modern wrestling, rather than traditional lucha libre. Juvi also said that he would be fulfilling all of his obligations that he is overseas and on the INDY scene including his scheduled appearances in the Perros del Mal promotion.

After the Main Event Dr. Wagner Jr. shocked the world by showing up (with his UWA Heavyweight Title I may add) and challenged El Mesias for the AAA Heavyweight Title! This comes only a few weeks after Wagner flat out denied that he was in negotiations with AAA (probably to keep the shock value). After the challenge Konnan offered Wagner a spot in the Legion and said he had only one week to make up his mind.

AAA 3/15 Rey de Reyes TV Taping Results
1) Aerostar, Fabi Apache, & Gran Apache def. Billy Boy, Cinthia Moreno, & Tigre Cota

9) AAA World Heavyweight Title Cage Match: El Mesias (c) def. Chessman to retain the title!
* NOTES *
– After the opener Aerostar asked Gran Apache for permission to kiss his daughter (but didn’t say which daughter), and Billy Boy didn’t care because he said he’s in love with Sexi Star (WTF?!) now. Talk about a soap opera.
– In the Trios match between Hart Foundation 2.0 & Zorro against DMEX & Charly, X-Pac fought Zorro to the back and Juvi came in to help DMEX get the win. After the match Juventud Guerrera vowed to end the Legion!
– In the Seconds Hair Match Marco Corleone made his jump to to AAA and was in Vampiro & Roldan’s corner and eventually helped Vampiro win.
– In the Rey de Reyes Finals Silver King eliminated Parka and then Latin eliminated Silver King and finally Electroshock eliminated Latin Lover to win the 2009 Rey de Reyes!
– In the Main Event Dr. Wagner Jr. shocked everyone by coming out and challenging Mesias to a match for Mesias’ AAA Heavyweight Title! Konnan then offered Wagner a spot in the Legion and gave him a one week deadline to make his decision.

Orlando Colon of the famous Puerto Rican Colon family had his shot at the Zero-1 World Heavyweight Title, as I reported last week, against champion: Shijori Ohtani on March 15th, but the youngster came up short and was pinned after a Spiral Bomb in the 13:54 matchup. Congrats to Sonjay.
