CMLL Holds Press Conference to Announce Big CMLL vs. Independents Show
Thursday CMLL held a press conference to announce that on 06/06 (same day as TripleMania) they will be holding a big CMLL vs. Los Super Libres (the invading Independents) show! The Main Event will see Strong Man, Brazo de Plata, & the returning Rayo de Jalisco Jr. teaming up to face New Japan’s Giant Bernard and Hermanos Dinamita (Mascara Ano 2000 & Universo 2000). Interestingly enough Mr. Aguila will actually team up with CMLL tecnicos Mistico & Mascara Dorada to face the team of Volador Jr., Averno, & Negro Casas in a Relevos Increibles. There is only 5 matches set for the show (shown below in the lineups section) and neither Ultimo Guerrero, La Sombra, or Hector Garza are listed on it so I would assume at least a singles match that hasn’t been announced yet. Hector Garza & Mr. Aguila announced officially that they are co-leaders of Los Super Libres. Tirantes Sr. will be the rudos referee for the independents.
Giant Bernard Coming To CMLL
CMLL’s website revealed that New Japan star, Giant Bernard, would be appearing in CMLL on May 27th. Bernard is formerly Prince Albert in the WWE and since leaving WWE has become a big star in New Japan (as well as turning into an excellent wrestler).

* NOTES *
– In the Semi-Main Hector Garza turned on his partners yet again but this time he actually joined Los Super Libres (the official name of the ex-AAA invaders).
– In the 3rd fall of the Main Event Mr. Aguilia stunned everyone when he ran in and attacked La Sombra joining Los Super Libres! Los Super Libres beat down Sombra and then Rayo de Jalisco (also shocking many people) ran out with a guitar. Everyone thought he was joining the rudos but actually nailed Universo 2000 with the guitar and made the save for Sombra! The word going around is that fans saw Super Crazy standing with Los Super Libres after the big brawl so the rumor is that Super Crazy could be joining the faction soon (but CMLL has made no mention of him). Mr. Aguilia returning to CMLL is a pretty big surprise due to his relationship with Perro Aguayo Jr. and the Perros del Mal group/promotion. The faction now seems to look like this: Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Psicosis II, El Alebrije, Cuije, Histeria II, Maniaco, Mascara Ano 2000, & Universo 2000. Here are some pics (courtesy of CMLL Magazine) of the events:
– Hector Garza celebrates with Maniaco, El Alebrije, & Histeria II:
– Mr. Aguila makes his shocking return:
– Rayo de Jalisco Jr. returns to CMLL by blasting Universo 2000 with a guitar:

– In the Main Event it came down to the third fall where Maximo took Guerrero out with a big dive on the outside. Maximo rolled back in the ring and then out of nowhere Olimpico made his return to CMLL by jumping Maximo! Mephisto then ran out and helped Olimpcio and Guerrero beat on Maximo. Strong Man then ran out and cleaned out. It wasn’t made clear if Olimpico was joining Los Super Libres or if he was rejoining his former group Los Guerreros Atlantida with Guerrero.
– Olimpico returns (courtesy Fuego en el Ring):

Viva la Lucha PPV Info & Preview (Including Videos)
This week we got a ton of great new info and previews for the upcoming Viva la Lucha (presented by Masked Republic) PPV titled “Revolucion”. First off, we finally found out what the Main Event for the show would be (since they aren’t airing the Main Event that took place at the taping) and it’s actually going to be a Double Main Event featuring some big stars. First, it will be L.A. Park defending his X-LAW Heavyweight Title in a Death Match against Sabu! This match actually took place earlier this year on an X-LAW event but has never before been seen outside of the fans that were in attendance. Second, it will be a special showdown between former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Blue Demon Jr., and the current PWR Heavyweight Champion, Oliver John, with John’s title on the line! I’m unsure of when or where this match took place (or if it has taken place yet). Also, Perro Aguayo Jr. will be making a special appearance during the PPV. Here is a special preview of the PPV which will air on June 11th (a week before MTV2’s new Lucha Libre show debuts). First up is the complete lineup for the PPV and then two great preview videos for the show which runs down each match as well as showing highlights of the event.

LUCHA MATCH SPOTLIGHT:
Triple Threat Match
Psicosis vs. Lizmark Jr. vs. Rey Misterio Jr.
WCW Monday Nitro (August 10, 1998)
This match took place right in the middle of the Monday Night Wars here in America back when WCW would let the cruiserweights (most times with no storylines) just go out to the ring and steal the show every week. Interestingly enough all 3 of these guys have lost their masks. Rey losing his to Kevin Nash in WCW, Psicosis losing his to Rey Misterio Sr. in Mexico and then later to Billy Kidman in WCW, and Lizmark losing his back in Mexico in CMLL in a Steel Cage Match. As the bell rings Lizmark dives at Psicosis with a dropkick but Psicosis moves out of the way and kicks Rey. Psicosis hit’s a Sitout Front Suplex on Rey and then he goes over to Lizmark and starts beating on him. Psicosis attempts to whip Lizmark into the ropes but Lizmark reverses it and then goes for a Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker, but Psicosis blocks it and then clotheslines Lizmark. Psicosis picks Lizmark up and hit’s a Scoop Slam and then climbs to the top. Rey walks over and Psicosis dives off the top with a Missile Dropkick on Rey and in doing so he actually lands on top of Lizmark with a Backsplash Senton at the same time! Gorgeous move from Psicosis. Psicosis taunts the crowd now and whips Rey into the ropes and connects with a One-legged Spinebuster! Psicosis puts the boots to both Rey & Lizmark and then talks some more trash to the crowd. Psicosis whips Rey into Lizmark who backdrops Rey over the top to the floor! Psicosis charges at Lizmark with a dropkick attempt but Lizmark moves out of the way. Lizmark beats on Psicosis in the corner but Psicosis counters it on him and then sets Psicosis up on the top rope. Psicosis turns around and Lizmark grabs Psicosis by the hair and slams him to the mat. Lizmark dives over Psicosis off the top and then hit’s a gorgeous Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker! Lizmark clotheslines Psicosis over the top rope to the floor where Rey throws a series of forearms at him. Lizmark hit’s a Tope Suicida over the top onto Psicosis as Rey was able to move out of the way. Rey is in the ring now and he connects with a beautiful Somersault Plancha over the top onto Lizmark on the floor! Rey grabs Psicosis and rolls him back into the ring and then he rolls Lizmark into the ring. As Rey gets on the apron both Lizmark & Psicosis meet him with right hands. Psicosis then nails Lizmark with a Back Elbow and then he lights Lizmark up with chops on the ropes. Psicosis attempts to whip Lizmark into the ropes but Lizmark reverses it. Lizmark then lifts Psicosis up into the air and Rey springboards off the top into a Springboard Seated Senton! Lizmark follows up with an Asai Moonsault on Psicosis! 1…2…NO Psicosis kicks out! Rey lights Psicosis up with a chop and then he whips Psicosis into the ropes. Rey leapfrogs Psicosis and then Lizmark lifts him up into a Hot Shot on the ropes!
