2010 Lucha Expo Results & Pics
This years Lucha Expo was filled with great wrestling and fun for all lucha fans. Reportedly 6,547 fans showed up for the first days events (so low because of a bad rain), then 9,365 fans the next day, and finally 9,486 at the final day. There was one big controversial thing that went down during the events. Supposedly in between the Perros del Mal show and AAA’s show Perro Aguayo Jr. got pretty drunk and then showed up and did his angle in AAA hammered. He was supposedly slurring his words and acting extremely unprofessional. Not a great start there Perrito.

If you’re confused after seeing that list, don’t worry you’re not the only one. So we have 3 guys who have definitely left the company (Manson, Corleone, & Gronda II), 1 that died (Abismo), and one that may have possibly just left the company as well (Suzuki). Also, they have 2 of the Psycho Circus members names wrong (Zombie changed his name to Monster and Killer changed his to Murder). Also, we get Super Fly and no Laredo Kid or Aerostar? No women on the XBox/PS3 version makes no sense either.

Sexy Star’s Future?
Earlier this week Sexy Star posted a picture of her arriving in Tampa, Florida on her official twitter. Rumors have swirled for a few weeks that she had contacted the WWE about possibly coming in and everyone knows that the WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestler is based out of Tampa. She was scheduled for a tag team match at tonight’s AAA TV Taping. I guess we will know shortly.

El Hijo del Santo Sues AAA
AAA President, Dorian Roldan, said this week that El Hijo del Santo is suing AAA because he’s angry that he is featured on last years TripleMania DVD. Santo confirmed this news but didn’t speak anymore about it. Really Santo? I mean really? So you do the show and then get mad because it’s on DVD. What the hell did he expect? Them to cut the biggest match on the card? All this is is Santo wanting more money for being on the DVD.

Kenzo Suzuki Returns to Japan
After several years in Mexico Japanese star, Kenzo Suzuki, has made his return to Japan. The AAA star ran in the Main Event of an All Japan show this past Sunday wearing a La Parka mask and attacked the legendary Keiji Mutoh. He then removed his mask revealing it to be Kenzo. Kenzo officially joined the VooDoo Murderers group. Later this week Dorian Roldan reported on his Twitter that Suzuki is still signed with AAA and will only be in All Japan “temporarily” before he comes back to AAA. The videos of the incident are below:

Super Crazy In AJPW

Super Crazy has made his return to Japan to compete in All Japan’s 2010 Jr. Heavyweight League. Crazy’s match results and upcoming bouts are listed below. Crazy got his first win in his first match of the Tournament defeating former Heart Throbs member in the WWE, Antonio Thomas.
– Jr. Heavyweight League: Super Crazy def. Antonio Thomas (07/25)
– Minoru & Taiyo Kea def. Super Crazy & Masayuki Kono (07/27)
– Jr. Heavyweight League: Super Crazy vs. Minoru (07/30)

Possibility of Super Crazy at TNA’s ECW-Themed PPV
Over the last week it’s been reported that ECW rivals Super Crazy and Yoshihiro Tajiri would not be able to compete at TNA’s ECW-themed PPV “Hardcore Justice” due to their bookings in Japan. Tajiri is scheduled to work a New Japan event the day of the PPV, and Super Crazy is booked in All Japan’s “Jr. Heavyweight League” Tournament through this month and next. However, if Crazy does NOT make it into the Semifinals of the Tournament then theoretically he COULD make the PPV. That seems pretty unlikely since Crazy made it all the way to the Finals last year. Crazy’s last booked match before the Semifinals and Finals starts is on 08/05, but usually on days that the wrestlers don’t compete in Tournament matches they wrestle in multi man tag matches. Crazy making it to “Hardcore Justice” would require some cooperation from All Japan (who TNA does have a good relationship with) and a willingness of Crazy to not make it to the Semifinals (that is if AJPW plans on having him go that far).

PWR Uprising Episode 3
Pro Wrestling Revolution premiered the 3rd episode of their “Uprising” webisode series. This weeks show features 3 big matchups plus Blue Demon Jr.’s challenge to Oliver John for the Lucha Expo show. First up on the show Pierrothito goes one-on-one with Mascarita Dorada, then the Border Patrol faces off against El Snowflake (aka Snowflake) & El Amante. Finally, in the Main Event the explosive team of Super Crazy and Hijo de Rey Misterio faces Vaquero Fantasma and current WWWE developmental star Incognito (Hunico in FCW).

Lucha Stars Confirmed to Being Signed with New Company
PWInsider confirmed this week that Super Crazy and Hijo de Rey Misterio (who I reported were rumored to be signing) have indeed signed deals with the new upstart Florida-based promotion that is scheduled to open this Fall. Also, former AAA star, Rocky Romero, has signed with the company. This company has STILL been able to keep it’s name from leaking out.

Lucha Libre USA Rating Drops
The 2nd episode of Lucha Libre USA’s “Masked Warriors” on MTV2 scored a 0.1 rating down from last weeks 0.2. This weeks episode only had 116,000 viewers. This is not a good trend, hopefully it will pick up but if not things may not be too bright for their future.

CHIKARA Announces Big Debut for September
This week CHIKARA announced that legendary female Japanese wrestler (who is considered by many to be the greatest women’s wrestler of all time), Manami Toyota, would be making her American debut at CHIKARA’s “Eye to Eye” show on 09/18 from Baltimore, Maryland. She will also appear the next night in Brooklyn, NY at CHIKARA’s “Through Savage Progress Cuts The Jungle Line” event. In her career Toyota has garnered an astonishing 10 5-star matches from the Wrestling Observer as well as winning Match of the Year from Wrestling Observer in both 1993 and 1995, and even “Most Outstanding Wrestler” in 1995. She’s won championships in UWA, JWP, GAEA, and the historic All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling promotion. Toyota once wrestled on every single match at a tribute show held in her honor. No word on who her opponent will be but a match with Amazing Kong could possibly be in the cards as that match would most likely be on the level of Toyota’s classics with Aja Kong.

EAW Stiffs Talent?
This past weekend rumors started to come out that at the last EAW shows the promoters of the company ended up not paying any of the talent or staff from the show saying that they were in debt and didn’t make enough on the show. The promoters supposedly promised all that they would get their money, but the talent ended up even having to pay for their hotel rooms out of their own pockets. Then, at the Lucha Expo EAW’s familiar double ring never showed up for their scheduled event during the show and they never held one during the 3-day expo. After all of this came out superstar and regular EAW wrestler, Super Crazy, spoke out about the rumors while on tour in Japan. Crazy said that he knows the EAW promoters are in debt but that they had paid all wrestlers to his knowledge and he has never had any problems with getting paid by them.
