Report: Rey Mysterio and WWE reportedly in discussions for new three-year deal

Rey Mysterio

Luchacentral.com reported on Tuesday afternoon that the city of San Diego announced June 19 would be officially Rey Mysterio day.

During Tuesday’s press conference, it was also reported Mysterio revealed he and WWE are currently in discussions for a new three-year deal.  In addition, the report also stated no deal as of yet has been reached and that is presumed any deal being completed at this point hangs on Mysterio being allowed to work a part time schedule.

Mysterio is confirmed for the sold-out All In event on September 1 in Chicago, IL.  The report also speculated Mysterio could make appearances at New Japan’s G1 Special July 7 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA and the AAA Triplemania XXVI event on August 25. So if Mysterio and WWE do come to terms on a new deal, it is unclear when he would make his official return to the company.

Earlier this year, Mysterio had undergone testing in Alabama as part of negotiations for a possible return to WWE.   He made a one-time appearance for the company back on April 27 at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia as the 28th entrant in which he went to work quickly by eliminating Luke Gallows.  He was then eventually eliminated by Baron Corbin. Mysterio is booked for the All In event on September 1.
