Report: Current WWE Women’s Champion expected to finish after WrestleMania 35

A report by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has indicated that current RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey could be finishing up with WWE soon.

The report indicated there was a “very good chance” Rousey would finish up with the company following WrestleMania 35 this April.

The idea that Rousey could be done isn’t incredibly far-fetched. Last June, Hall of Famer Ric Flair told Chris Van Vliet that Rousey’s current deal with WWE would be expiring by the time WrestleMania 35 rolls around and was hopeful of a match between Rousey and his daughter, WWE star Charlotte Flair, could be part of the card.

A few months later, Rousey told ESPN that she had a “set timeline” when coming to terms with WWE on a contract last year. However, Rousey indicated in the same interview that she was already rethinking that previous commitment and seemed to suggest that she was enjoying her time in the ring more than she expected.

“I love this way more than I ever thought I would. We had a set timeline set, and now we aren’t so sure about it because I love it so much. I guess that’s the best thing that could’ve happened, that I would love it so much it would be so hard to stop. I can see why people have a hard time leaving this industry because it’s such a joy to be a part of every day.”

Rousey has stated publicly she wants to start a family, although at the time of her WWE signing last January, she described it as a commitment for “several years.”

Rousey will defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble PPV this Sunday night in Phoenix.
