Dean Malenko, longtime WWE producer and former wrestler, quits the company

Dean Malenko quits

According to a report first put out by Sports Illustrated and since confirmed by other outlets, Dean Malenko has quit his position as a WWE producer.

Malenko (real name Dean Simon, 58), has been with WWE in some capacity since retiring as an in-ring talent in 2001. There was no reason given for the departure.

Malenko is a second-generation wrestler from a famed wrestling family that includes his father, Boris. In a 20 year career, Malenko is a former 4-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion, a WCW United States Champion and Tag Team Champion, and a 2-time WWF Light Heavyweight Champion.

This is the second high profile WWE producer to leave the company in the past few months. Arn Anderson recently was fired by the company stemming from an incident involving Alicia Fox at a house show back in February.
