Wrestling legend Harley Race still hospitalized, team starts up a fundraiser to cover expenses

Harley Race

8-time NWA World Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race is still hospitalized following a medical scare over the weekend.

Race was traveling to the Fan Boy Expo in Knoxville on Thursday when he fell ill and had to go to the hospital. The situation wasn’t publicly announced until Saturday. Race’s team mentioned he was hoping to leave the hospital, but the situation is serious enough to keep him there.

Race is currently battling lung cancer. While Race’s team is not providing specific information about Race’s situation due to privacy, they did say that Race “was, is, and always will be a fighter… and he hasn’t thrown in the towel and he has promised that as long as it is up to him, that won’t be an option.”

All of Race’s upcoming appearances have been canceled.

Unfortunately because he was traveling to Tennessee, he had to be hospitalized in a facility that is far away from his home and family. To help cover the cost of these unexpected expenses, special t-shirts are being sold with the funds going directly to the situation.

On behalf of the staff of Wrestleview, we continue to send our best wishes to Harley Race and his family during this difficult time.
