Jerry Lawler sues Hardeman County for $3 Million over death of his son Brian Lawler

Jerry files $3 Million lawsuit over death of his son

According to a new report from TMZ Sports, F4WOnline and other multiple sources, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King Lawler” is suing officials in Hardeman County, Tennessee, county officials and a local sheriff for $3 Million over the 2018 death of his son and former WWE Superstar Brian Christopher Lawler.

Brian Christopher Lawler, who was also known as Grandmaster Sexay, died last year by hanging himself in his jail cell a year ago, today (July 29, 2018) following an arrest for a DUI and attempting to evade local police.  He was 46 years old.

The same report from TMZ also states that Lawler claims his son’s death could have been prevented if officials would have followed proper protocol when dealing with a person they knew had history of suicide attempts.

Jeffrey Rosenblum, Lawler’s attorney says that Brian suffered from depression and had told officers during his 2018 arrest that he had attempted suicide in 2013 and 2015.

In addition, Jeffrey Rosenblum, Lawler’s attorney states that Christopher was attacked by another inmate during his confinement and suffered a head injury, left eye gash and a possible concussion. Rosenblum says officials refused to get him medical help.

Instead, Brian Christopher was allegedly placed in solitary confinement with his shoes and shoe laces in a cell that had two large bolts sticking out of a high point on one of the cell walls, which is what Christopher used along with his shoe laces to hang himself with.

Lawler’s attorney also noted that Christopher repeatedly cried out for help and screamed that he needed to go to the hospital, but never received the medical attention he requested.

Jerry Lawler has filed a lawsuit in the hopes of holding Tennessee officials a the sheriff  accountable.  It should be noted any money they are awarded will go toward supporting Brian’s Christopher’s son.

Lawler has also stated that he wants an apology from the Sheriff’s Department and a court order “requiring Hardeman County to correct their unconstitutional deficiencies so that no other family has to go through what this family has had to endure over the past year.”

According to Rosenblum, the $3 million is for compensatory damages “with an additional award of punitive damages to be determined by the jury for the benefit of Brian’s minor son.”

The lawsuit was announced earlier today in a press release which was issued by Rosenblum & Reisman, Attorneys at Law.
