WWE SmackDown Preview: Debut on FOX, WWE Championship match, The Rock appears

WWE SmackDown Preview

Friday Night SmackDown will be live tonight from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

This will be the debut of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, the beginning of a 5-year, $1 billion TV deal. This is also the final show before WWE Hell in a Cell on October 6.

Tonight’s show will see the celebration of the 20th anniversary of SmackDown. The Rock is scheduled to be on the show, as are a number of legends such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Trish Stratus, The Undertaker, and more.

The main event of the show will be Kofi Kingston defending the WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar. This will be Lesnar’s first match on television since returning to WWE in 2012, and his first match on SmackDown since 2004. Lesnar attacked Kingston two weeks ago on SmackDown and issued the challenge.

Also scheduled for tonight is a Ladder Match where Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon will put their careers on the line. We will also see Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair team up to take on SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks. Roman Reigns will also take on Erick Rowan.

We will have live SmackDown results tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern/7:00 Central.
