NXT star Boa undergoes surgery for torn labrum and rotator cuff

WWE NXT star Boa revealed Instagram that he underwent surgery Thursday for a torn labrum and a torn rotator cuff.

He noted in his post that the had the the injury occurred three weeks ago in a match.

The surgery was done at Dr. Jeffrey Dugas at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Boa last wrestled at the NXT Live Event in Lakeland, Florida on October 26 in which he lost to Damian Priest. 

Boa, real name Yanbo Wang is a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He was named the 2016 Brazilian jiu-jitsu China Open Gi/No-Gi champion.

He also represented China at the 2013 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships.

Boa was one of seven signees to the WWE Performance Center in 2016.  He made his in-ring debut in NXT on July 8, 2017 teaming with No Way Jose to successfully defeat Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake. 

As of this report, there is no word on how long Boa will be out of action.
