WWE files for a new trademark used by an independent wrestling promotion

According to a new report by PWInsider, on December 15, WWE filed a new trademark for “The Collective” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Independent wrestling fans will recognize “The Collective” as the title for a “collective” of independent events that typically have been held over WrestleMania weekend since 2018.

“The Collective” event has been lead by New Jersey’s independent wrestling promotion Game Changer Wrestling.  They have featured numerous events that has included Joey Janela’s Spring Break, Absolute Intense Wrestling, Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, SHIMMER just to name a few.

It was noted in the report that there had already been plans by GCW to move forward with a 2021 edition of The Collective weekend.  GCW could argue first use in business for “The Collective” term, if they choose to do so.

G & S: Wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports via an online community portal.
