Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” doing well domestically, sinks internationally

According to Deadline, Disney’s “Jungle Cruise”, starring former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in its opening weekend grossed $61.8 million, and over $30 million from Disney Plus as of this report. It was specifically noted that in pure theatrical terms, “Jungle Cruise” performed ahead of expectations domestically, but came in way lower at the international box office compared to pre-weekend estimates.

In additional, it was stated that “Jungle Cruise” opened internationally well below the $40 million projected debut, grossing only $27.6 million. The report noted that even its rivals agree the film is facing issues, which include a changing overseas COVID-19 landscape, and stronger local titles in some markets.
