John Cena returning to WWE in September

John Cena will be returning to WWE this coming September.

As first announced by FOX Sports, John Cena is scheduled to make two appearances with WWE: on September 1 for an episode of SmackDown. WWE then followed up and announced that Cena would appear at the WWE Superstar Spectacle in India on September 8.

The September 1 episode of SmackDown will take place at The Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The context of Cena’s appearance has not been disclosed yet.

It is also unknown if Cena will be wrestling at either event or if these are the only scheduled appearances of this return run.

The WWE Superstar Spectacle will occur at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India. It will be WWE’s first live event in India since 2017, though it will not be televised in the United States as of this writing.

The 46-year-old WWE Legend most recently appeared for WWE this past Friday on SmackDown with a video message for Edge’s 25th anniversary.

Cena last appeared before a live crowd in a surprise appearance at WWE Money in the Bank on July 1 at The O2 Arena, where he lobbied for WrestleMania to come to London. His last match was against Austin Theory in a losing effort for the United States Championship during Night One of WrestleMania 39.

Wrestleview has live coverage of SmackDown every Friday starting at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 Central.
