Predictions: WWE Hell in a Cell

Predictions from the Faculty Lounge
PPV: WWE Hell in a Cell (October 4)
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo
Predictions by:
WrestleView.com staff and readers

Oh, hello once again students of WrestleView. It is I once again, your resident teacher and welcome to another edition of ?Predictions From The Faculty?.

This weekend, we enter our lounge (and yes, we had bourbon and cigars in this lounge because we are that special) and predict Hell in a Cell. The cell stands twenty feet high, tons of steel chain links surrounding this structure. It is known to be one of the ultimate matches that will end a rivalry and create new ones (though the main events are the same as it was at Breaking Point). Blood was shed many times after they survived this hell (though no blood this year, sorry Attitude fans). These types of matches are true heaven for the students and staff?but true hell for the wrestlers competing in this match.

So, who will come on top in each contest? Who will be champion? Will Batista injure something once more? Hopefully, the professors will help you make the right call.

The last PPV that we covered (No Surrender), we welcomed two faculty members into the ?undefeated status?, as Josh Boutwell and Mike Silciliano both aced the predictions and gained ground on Current Dean of WrestleView.com Joe Baiamonte. In case you want to see our overall progress, here are the current standings.

Current Standings (No Surrender record in parentheses)

16) Ryan Droste (Ask WV)?????????????????????.4-4 (0-0)

**To see Professor Siciliano’s detailed predictions, please check out his latest column (Pro’s From the Palace #344).

So, the question remains?will Joe Baiamonte finally relinquish his top spot? We are going to find out after the PPV comes to and end. Until then, enjoy our picks for ?Hell in a Cell?.

Absent From the Faculty: Josh Piedra, Phil Chroniger, Sean Hurley, and Ryan Droste.

Currently, there are seven matches (6 of them for titles).

**As of 5:00 AM EST (Yes, I am still awake after a great Penguins victory over the New York Islanders), Mike Tedesco informed me of another match. Some of us will provide a pick for the R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre match later on today. If the students want to add this in their picks, then they are allowed.**

Before the Predictions (Here’s to you, Hunter Golden)?.

In Honor of one of the best franchises in all of sport, The Hartford Whalers.

Non-Title Matches

**Hell in a Cell Match**
Degeneration X (HHH/HBK) vs. Legacy (Cody Rhodes/Ted DiBiase, Jr.)

Joe B. – DX.

Josh B. – DX.

Jose M. – One thing I have to say is that this PPV is not nearly as predictable to me as it was three weeks ago. Originally I would have felt that Legacy was going to go over but after watching the last few weeks I am unsure. I am going to go with DX because I can?t see them losing two PPV’s in a row to Legacy.

David S. – DX.

Josh P. – DX.

Anthony V. – This match is going to be interesting and it is harder to predict the outcome. Will Legacy get back to back wins over DX? After much consideration, I doubt that will happen. I will pick DEGENERATION X to win this match. Potentially a good match here.

Mike S. – DX over Legacy.

Matt O. – DX.

Doug L. – DX via one of the best rubber matches we have seen in a long time. Remember when these two teams first met on PPV, and how everyone in the faculty lounge feared that DX would make Legacy look like The Spirit Squad and annihilate any chances of them moving up within the company? Shows how much we know…

Chris K. – DX.

Mike T. – I think DX will take it here, though I’d really be happy to see Legacy, even if it does mean my PPV record takes a hit.

Mike K. – DX.

Consensus: Cue the music?.

Look, the Faculty knows that Legacy upset DX a few weeks ago at Breaking Point. However, we don?t believe that another upset is in the making. The entire Faculty predicts a DEGENERATION X victory over the young up and coming tag team.

DEGENERATION X 12; Legacy 0.

R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre (Some members did not vote due to it being announced at the last minute)

Joe B. – Will post later

Josh B. – Will post later

Jose M. – I would have to say DREW MCINTYRE simply cause it’s his debut match.

David S. – Will post later

Josh P. – R-TRUTH

Anthony V. – To me, this is a no-brainer. Since Drew has been destroying the Truth as of late, I am going to go with DREW MCINTYRE to win easily.

Mike S. – Wow. They put this on pay per view? Sheesh. MCINTYRE wins.

Matt O. – I’ll take R-TRUTH.

Doug L. – R-TRUTH via what could either be a very entertaining match… or the worst idea WWE Creative came up with in the last waking moments before a PPV. Be interesting to see, with the backing of Vince, how McIntyre fares in his first PPV match.

Chris K. – DREW MCINTYRE.

Mike T. – DREW MCINTYRE will ruin the party!

Mike K. – Will post later.

Consensus: Damn you, WWE for doing this at the last minute!! Well, the Faculty worked overtime to make this pick. In a very close decision, we went with the young superstar DREW MCINTYRE to be the winner in this match.

DREW MCINTYRE 5; R-Truth 3.

Championship Matches

**For the WWE Diva’s Title**
Mickie James (c) vs. Alicia Fox

Joe B. – MICKIE JAMES.

Josh B. – MICKIE JAMES.

Jose M. – MICKIE JAMES simply cause Alicia is horrible.

David S. – MICKIE JAMES.

Josh P. – MICKIE JAMES.

Anthony V. – MICKIE JAMES. Though James has not been that impressive since winning the ?other? women’s title, I can?t see them placing it on a very inconsistent competitor like Fox. Out of all the matches, this is the one am least looking forward to.

Mike S. – JAMES over Fox.

Matt O. – MICKIE JAMES.

Doug L. – ALICIA via Mickie’s record of ‘entertainment’ on television. Something needs to be done with this title… and the lesser it involves Mickie, the better. Just have Alicia win her first belt and keep it warm for Maryse’s return…

Chris K. – MICKIE JAMES.

Mike T. – MICKIE JAMES will continue here reign. Rosa Mendes is next in line for a shot.

Mike K. – MICKIE JAMES.

Consensus: We almost had to play Vince’s theme once more. Though one of the members predict an upset here, the vast majority decides to go with the champ (MICKIE JAMES) in this Diva contest.

MICKIE JAMES 11; Alicia Fox 1.

**For the Unified Tag Team Championship**
Chris Jericho/Big Show (c’s) vs. Batista and Rey Mysterio

Joe B. – BATISTA AND REY MYSTERIO.

Josh B. – JERISHOW.

Jose M. – I have felt ever since Batista came back that he wasn’t 100% healthy and I can’t think of a better way to ease him back into the ring than this tag team match. I think BATISTA and MISTERIO go over here and have a short little reign to give them some steam. I wouldn?t be surprised if it was a DQ but Rey and Batista vs DX would be interesting down the line if they did switch the titles.

David S. – JERISHOW.

Josh P. – JERISHOW.

Anthony V. – Batista and Rey are going to be the MVP and Mark Henry of Smackdown. Batista should be able to hold his own with Show, while Rey and Jericho are always great together. I still am going with the champs here, JERISHOW, because of Jericho is just too good to be out of RAW at this time.

Mike S. – JERISHOW over Batista and Rey.

Matt O. – JERICHO AND SHOW.

Doug L. – BATISTA/MYSTERIO via now is the time for the swap. This is not about Jeri-Show becoming stale or holding the titles for long enough… having Batista and Rey Mysterio perform on both brands is a major boost for ratings on both sides.

Chris K. – JERISHOW.

Mike T. – This is a tough one. I’d like to see BATISTA AND REY MYSTERIO take the gold here. That’d be a big comeback for Batista and Mysterio.

Mike K. – JERISHOW

Consensus: Look, we are excited that Batista and Rey are going to team up for the fight of good once again against the Jerishow. Can they win and capture gold once more? Well, according to our World Class Faculty, not yet. Though a few of the members predict a new set of Tag Team champions, JERISHOW is still the odd-on favorite to defend the titles.

JERISHOW 8; Batista and Rey 4.

**For the United States Championship**
Triple Threat Match
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. The Miz vs. Jack Swagger

Joe B. – THE MIZ.

Josh B. – KOFI.

Jose M. – I wish I could just say Kofi is not retaining and leave it at that but Miz and Swagger have both looked strong. I think SWAGGER is going over simply because he has the belt right now and I can’t see another heel winning a stolen belt from a heel. So I think Swagger wins and keeps the stolen belt.

David S. – KOFI KINGSTON.

Josh P. – KINGSTON.

Anthony V. – Kofi is not leaving with the title here, as they are going to tweak his gimmick a bit (he is now from Ghana, his legit birthplace I believe). I think both challengers are solid and the better man will win here. Though I won?t be surprised if Swagger wins this I will pick THE MIZ to earn his first single’s title.

Mike S. – THE MIZ over Kofi and Swagger.

Matt O. – THE MIZ.

Doug L. – SWAGGER via the clock chiming his time. If there is a time where you want to promote Swagger and slowly escort him up the ladder of ‘the board’ in Connecticut, now is the time. Hold the strap for a few months, defend solidly in great matches (Kofi, MVP, Henry, and Bourne come to mind).

Chris K. – JACK SWAGGER.

Mike T. – I haven’t the foggiest idea. I think THE MIZ could take it here.

Mike K. – KOFI.

Consensus: The Fauculty was torn as to pick the outcome of this contest. Each wrestler in this Triple Threat earned a few votes here. Though each one has a chance to win (or defend) this title, more members chose THE MIZ as their winner of the U.S. Championship. Still, don?t totally bank on this one happening, as we are torn on this one.

THE MIZ 5; Kofi Kingston 4; Jack Swagger 3.

**For the Intercontinental Championship**
John Morrison (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

Joe B. – JOHN MORRISON.

Josh B. – ZIGGLER.

Jose M. – JOHN MORRISON because he hasn’t been on PPV for so long that to come and lose would be a major step back although I wouldnt be surprised if it was a DQ or even a draw.

David S. – ZIGGLER.

Josh P. – MORRISON.

Anthony V. – In my opinion, the match of the night. Everyone know how big I am on Morrison. I always thought of the IC Title to be a stepping stone towards the main event level status. With that in mind, I don?t think he is ?there? yet. However he will be close. I am a fan of Dolph, don?t get me wrong. In the end, I think some people paid good money to see Star Ship Pain, and won?t leave disappointed. JOHN MORRISON wins a great contest here.

Mike S. – MORRISON over Dolph.

Matt O. – ZIGGLER.

Doug L. – MORRISON via blame Mysterio’s mishandling of paperwork. If Mysterio had not been suspended, Morrison’s and Ziggler’s ascension would not have been put on hold. Though I’m sure this will be a great match (show-stealer IMO), it doesn’t help either talent…

Chris K. – JOHN MORRISON.

Mike T. – Please god let JOHN MORRISON continue his reign and give Mysterio a return match.

Mike K. – MORRISON.

Consensus: I hope I am right on one thing?it is great to see JOHN MORRISON on a pay per view card. Can his Intercontinental Title reign continue? You bet! The majority of The Faculty predicts a successful title defense by the Friday Night Delight!

JOHN MORRISON 9; Dolph Ziggler 3.

**For the World Heavyweight Championship**
Hell in a Cell Match
CM Punk (c) vs. The Undertaker

Joe B. – THE UNDERTAKER.

Josh B. – PUNK.

Jose M. – The UNDERTAKER because these two have one more match in them which is retarded when you think about it because the Cell match should be the blow off but after watching the Rock promise the Undertaker would win the match I’d be hard pressed to go against him.

David S. – CM PUNK.

Josh P. – PUNK.

Anthony V. – I think the smoke clears and Vince McMahon will screw (remember how he prevents Teddy from saying something here) Taker again here. CM PUNK defends the title, with some help from the powers that be.

Mike S. – TAKER over Punk.

Matt O. – PUNK.

Doug L. – PUNK via the inevitable if it were the opposite. Suppose ‘Taker won the match… how do you think he would win? An undeniable and relentless bludgeoning… effectively annihilating CM Punk’s viability as an upper-tier talent. Keep Punk riding the wave of luck and condescension!

Chris K. – CM PUNK.

Mike T. – I think the Undertaker will get screwed here… again. PUNK wins!

Mike K. – CM PUNK.

Consensus: We all know that this match is right in The Undertaker’s alley. However after the ‘screwjob? a few weeks ago, the majority of us are hesistant in predicting Taker to win the title again. Though The Dead Man got a few votes from us, we decided to choose a New, Straightedge Generation. The majority went with CM PUNK.

CM PUNK 9; The Undertaker 3.

**For the WWE World Championship**
Hell in a Cell Match
John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton

Joe B. – JOHN CENA.

Josh B. – CENA.

Jose M. – Going into this I would?ve thought John Cena but after watching him beat the snot out of Orton on Raw I’ve since changed my mind. Why would you beat Orton up on the cell on Raw? That’s why people are paying to see the match and you gave it to them for free? I don’t get it so I can only assume ORTON will be getting the title back here.

David S. – JOHN CENA.

Josh P. – CENA.

Anthony V. – This one is another tough call. Cena got over Monday by F.U.ing Orton on the top of the cell. Also if Orton loses, he gets NO MORE TITLE SHOTS. It is a huge risk because what heels are out there that are at Orton’s level. I hope I am right on this, but I think we will get a new Legacy member here and this guy will help RANDY ORTON take back his championship belt.

Mike S. – CENA over Orton.

Matt O. – ORTON.

Doug L. – CENA via a VERY tough decision. If you switched to Orton… how would you carry on this feud after all of the stipulation matches they’ve already had? Four months straight of Cena-Orton main event matches (triple threat with HHH included)… it’s time to end it and push for a new feud… pick any participant from the DX-Legacy feud…

Chris K. – RANDY ORTON.

Mike T. – JOHN CENA will retain the title here. There needs to be some stable champions for the time being.

Mike K. – CENA.

Consensus: Orton may be known as ?The Viper? now (damn you Cole!), but according to a majority of the professors here we see Superm?I mean JOHN CENA defending the championship. I think the main reason was because that title has changed hands a lot recently. The title needed to stay on someone a bit longer. So, Cena it is!

JOHN CENA 7; Randy Orton 4
