WWE Main Event results, Aug. 26, 2014: Fierce competition on WWE Network
ONTARIO – WWE Main Event took Ontario’s Citizen’s Business Bank Arena by storm with Seth Rollins against Rob Van Dam, Adam Rose taking on Curtis Axel and Gold and Stardust in action against Los Matadores.
Rob Van Dam def. Seth Rollins
WWE Main Event kicked off with Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins facing off against former Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner and former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam. The in-ring repertoires of Rollins and RVD are strikingly similar, but the ECW original brought years of experience to the bout giving him an early advantage against Rollins.
Nevertheless, the former Shield member proved his resilience and ability by keeping the contest highly competitive against his incredibly agile opponent. As momentum shifted back and forth, the battle spilled to the outside. Taking advantage of his surroundings, RVD threw Rollins into the time keeper’s area and returned to the ring just in time for Mr. Money in the Bank to be counted out, securing victory for Van Dam.
Adam Rose def. Curtis Axel
Before WWE Main Event begin on WWE Network, a heated exchange between Adam Rose and Curtis Axel set the stage for a battle between the two Superstars. A third-generation Superstar and former Intercontinental Champion, Axel was not impressed with the antics of the Rosebuds at ringside as he and Rose exchanged blows back and forth.
Trying to remain undeterred by his opponent’s entourage, Axel became increasingly more frustrated with the Rosebuds. Rose used Axel’s annoyance to his advantage, seizing an opportunity to execute the Party Foul and pick up a big victory.
Goldust and Stardust def. Los Matadores
Following the bizarre and frustrated actions of Goldust and Stardust on Raw – attacking an injured Jey Uso after failing to win the WWE Tag Team Titles because of a count-out – the bizarre duo set their sights on Los Matadores.
The pendulum of momentum swung back and forth as the incredibly agile and experienced tag teams each tried to maintain control throughout the contest. However, the teamwork of Gold and Stardust reigned supreme. Channeling the cosmic key, they managed to fend off the advances of Los Matadores to get the win.
After the contest, the bizarre duo attacked El Torito seemingly for no reason, leaving questions surrounding their true intentions.
