Tonight, the NXT brand returns with another TakeOver special live on WWE Network beginning at 8PM ET, this time up in the Great White North of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The main focus of the show is the main event for the NXT Title from Brooklyn between champion Shinsuke Nakamura and former champion Samoa Joe in a rematch from the last TakeOver special back in August in Brooklyn.
The build for the rematch has been very well done as it has showcased a new side of Nakamura than NXT fans have seen before, a more intense side, compared to the theatrics and showmanship that Nakamura is known for, all due to Joe putting him in the hospital over a month or so back with a urnangi on the steel steps.
Samoa Joe, who according to Sports Betting Dime is the odds-on favorite to be the next NXT performer called up to the WWE main roster, would run roughshod over the NXT roster in the weeks to come, until he got his title back as he thought Nakamura wouldn’t be back to defend his title in time. Once Joe gave an ultimatum to NXT GM William Regal, Nakamura returned, much to the shock and awe of Joe, and knocked him out with Kinshasa to conclude a wild brawl between the two and lead to the title rematch tonight.
Also tonight is the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Classic between TM-61 and legendary manager Paul Ellering’s Authors of Pain, the return of Mickie James against the dominant Asuka for the NXT Women’s Title, another round in the rivalry between tag champions The Revival and #DIY in a 2/3 Falls Match and a battle between two Canadian countrymen in the glorious Bobby Roode against the perfect 10 that is Tye Dillinger.
With all of these high-octane bouts taking place, culuminating in the return battle between Nakamura and Joe, NXT TakeOver: Toronto looks to be another notch added on to their successful belt as 2016 draws to a close.
Wrestleview.com will have live coverage of NXT TakeOver: Toronto tonight beginning at 8PM ET.
