2/2 Ring of Honor Newswire

Thank you to everyone in Los Angeles that made Ring of Honor’s SoCal debut a great success! The fans were tremendous, and we appreciate it! Special thanks go out to the staffs of WrestleReunion, Highspots, the LAX Hilton, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla for making the weekend’s events top notch and smooth. We look forward to doing it again next year!

– “A Double” got it done once again, and once more in controversial fashion. After going back and forth and brainbuster-for-brainbuster with the legendary Jushin “Thunder” Liger in a match that saw Aries battered and bloodied, the champion went low on Liger and finally put him away to shock the L.A. fans. “I have once more proven that I am more than a legend, I am the MV3, the greatest man that ever lived, and even Liger would admit it. Now I focus on the choke artist Tyler Black and finishing off his pipedreams in New York.” Both Aries & Tyler Black will be in action this weekend in Philly and expect tensions to be running high just days away from their World Title Match on February 13th.

– Earlier this week it came out that the Necro Butcher and the Embassy will finally meet in New York City (http://rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=3215). Extreme weather kept Necro out of action, but he’s coming to Manhattan on 2/13 with all of that anger plus some! After Joey Ryan and Erick Stevens left Necro laying in Los Angeles, the King of the Deathmatch is coming to settle the score, and he’s not coming alone! Eddie Kingston felt the bite of Nana’s army the last time ROH was in Philadelphia, and he too is ready for battle! ROH officials have seen enough of the rules broken, attacks, and weaponry interjected, so this match will be unsanctioned with NO RULES. All hell has broken loose every single time these groups hook up, and in Midtown Manhattan, it will be chaos of the highest degree!

– The month of March is going to be a busy one for the ROH crew! With events in Philadelphia on 3/5-6, 3/19 in suburban Detroit, 3/20 in suburban Toronto, and 3/26-27 in Phoenix, the schedule is jam-packed! That said, we’re happy to announce the first group of talent for these huge March events: ROH World Champion Austin Aries, ROH World Tag Team Champions Mark and Jay Briscoe, Tyler Black, Roderick Strong, Colt Cabana, Kevin Steen, El Generico, Steve Corino (3/5-6, 26, 27), Kenny Omega (3/19, 20, 26, and 27), Davey Richards (3/19, 20, 26, and 27)! We’ll have more names for all of these great events in the coming days at ROHWrestling.com!

– The pot is starting to simmer between the Briscoe Brothers and the Kings of Wrestling. After their gutless attack at Final Battle 2009, the KoW avoided the brothers from Delaware at the last ROH on HDNet tapings in January by fleeing to Pro Wrestling NOAH. Just announced today (http://rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=3216), both teams won’t have to wait to get their hands on one another. Signed for this weekend in Philadelphia, Pick 6 spots are on the line when Chris Hero takes on Jay Briscoe on Friday, while Claudio Castagnoli battles Mark Briscoe on Saturday! This will surely fuel the fire that is building between these four men, especially after the Kings came out on the winning side of the huge 8-Man war in Los Angeles. Who will come out ahead at the end of this weekend, and will the KoW get any closer to a shot at gold?

– Don’t forget that the very first Ring of Honor World Television Champion will be crowned this weekend! Check out http://rohwrestling.com/news/Article.aspx?id=3206 for a look at the official brackets and make your predictions! Who will wear the gold? Sound off at www.twitter.com/rohonhdnet, www.facebook.com/ringofhonor, or at www.myspace.com/ringofhonor!

– Kevin Steen defeated the Human Tornado in Los Angeles, but that wasn’t enough. Steen, who seemingly is becoming more and more deranged, tried to maim “H-Tizzle” after the fact with a chair and the only thing that stopped him was Colt Cabana stepping in. Steen left the ring and exited the building through the crowd, as Cabana looked on dumbfounded. El Generico was victorious in tag action with Cabana over the impressive Scorpio Sky and Scott Lost, and looked closer to himself, but once again would not speak on the subject.

– Due to high demand, ROH has decided to extend enrollment for the special training seminar and tryout camp on Sunday, March 7th, 2010. This camp was originally scheduled to accommodate 30 entrants, but we have opened up a few more spots for this event, spearheaded by ROH on HDNet Executive Producer Jim Cornette.
