Wow! What an incredible night of action this past Saturday night in South Philly! A sold-out crowd of 1,189 of the craziest, most hardcore and dedicated fans packed the Asylum Arena, and a worldwide audience watched on live IPPV as the CZW roster delivered one of the most unforgettable nights in Combat Zone history!
With the fire marshall holding guard at the front door, a full house bare witness as Drake Younger showed his true colors, leaving and leading his Cult Fiction teammates to a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Suicide Kings, much to the disgust of fallen Cult leader Billy Gram. Other highlights saw the shocking returns of the BRISCOE BROTHERS and B-BOY, the crowning of new CZW Tag Champions in PHILLY’S MOST WANTED, a show stealer from ROBERT ANTHONY and SAMI CALLIHAN, career nights for CZW Junior Champion ADAM COLE and World Champion JON MOXLEY, a Best of the Best birth for AKUMA, and a jaw-dropping moonsault in victory from Big Japan’s YUKO MIYAMOTO en route to his claiming the UVU Title!
Let’s take a look at the Official Cage of Death XII ‘Quick Results’….
1. AKUMA defeated Jonathan Gresham, Ruckus, Rich Swann, Ryan McBride and Alex Colon in a Six-Man Scramble to qualify for the 2011 BEST OF THE BEST Tournament.
2. In a moment of pure chaos and confusion, Greg Excellent came to the ring, and delivered a gruesome Tiger Driver on his mother, Momma Excellent.
3. ADAM COLE defeated A.R. FOX with interference from Mia Yim to retain the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
4. ADAM COLE defeated TYLER VERITAS (who cashed in his 1 in 8 contract) with interference from Mia Yim to retain the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship
5. ROBERT ‘EGO’ ANTHONY defeated Sami Callihan to earn a CZW World Heavyweight Title shot
6. PHILLY’S MOST WANTED (Blk Jeez and Joker) defeated the Osirian Portal to become the new CZW World Tag Team Champions. Following the match, PMW was confronted by the returning BRISCOE BROTHERS who challenged Philly’s Most Wanted to a Title Match in January!
7. JON MOXLEY defeated HOMICIDE to retain the CZW World Heavyweight Championship. Following the match, Moxley was attacked by the returning BRODIE LEE, who nailed Mox with a big boot to the face, and left him laying in the ring.
8. YUKO MIYAMOTO defeated NICK GAGE to become the new CZW ULTRAVIOLENT UNDERGROUND Champion!
9. The SUICIDE KINGS (Devon Moore, Dysfunction, Scotty Vortekz and Danny Havoc) defeated CULT FICTION when Devon Moore eliminated Masada to become the sole survivor in the CAGE OF DEATH Match! Following the match, Drake Younger returned to the ring and hit Devon Moore with the Drake’s Landing on the cage, and then threw him off the platform through a pane of glass below. Moore was saved from a further beating when the returning B-BOY hit the ring and chased Drake out the front door!
– The full aftermath of the Cage of Death event will not be truly felt for days, and possibly weeks to come, but one thing is for sure… the Cage of Death and CZW has once again revolutionized the world of Ultraviolence as we know it. – CZW returns to South Philly in January of 2011 with a special date of FRIDAY, January 7th. The first contest has already been signed, and will feature the return of THE BRISCOE BROTHERS to the black and yellow ring. Longtime fans will remember that Jay and Mark Briscoe as true CZW originals, having began their careers in the Combat Zone and later springboarding to international success. The duo made their shocking return to CZW at Cage of Death, confronting new Tag Champions PHILLY’S MOST WANTED and promising to deliver a beating to the BLK JEEZ and JOKER on behalf of the CZW fans. Can Philly’s Most Wanted MAN UP on January 7th and prove they are indeed the best tag team in the world?
– And finally, this past Saturday was one of the most successful nights in CZW history, and a fitting end to one of the most exciting years since the Combat Zone’s debut over a decade ago. CZW management, its wrestlers, staff, and crew wants to send a heartfelt thank you to the greatest fans in the world for your continuous support of the Combat Zone. Because of you, CZW in 2010 was able to expand into several new and exciting markets, tour internationally, return to television, and sell-out the world famous “ECW Arena” on our biggest night of the year. Like every other company, CZW experienced many ups and downs throughout the year, and through it all, you remained loyal and showed us why you are indeed the best fans in the world.
