Battle of the Belts: Santee vs. Titan Grand Championship Preview

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) – On Thursday, March 29th, the most anticipated Indie super show in years takes place in Fort Lauderdale at the National Guard Armory as NWA Ring Warriors kicks off WrestleMania 28 weekend with “Battle of the Belts.

Of all the matches signed, one of the most discussed within the ranks of Florida-based wrestlers is the NWA Ring Warriors Grand Championship as “The Marquee” Bruce Santee faces the 7-foot 315-pound Giant Titan. The two are the sole survivors of the eight man tournament that began on December 14th with a field that included “The VIP” Cassidy Riley, Steve “Moose” Madison, J.D. Maverick, Vordell Walker, Francisco Ciatso and Wes Brisco.

For Santee, he has been a staple of Florida wrestling for more than 10 years and believes that he is the best wrestler in the state who has not been offered an opportunity to work full time for either TNA Impact or World Wrestling Entertainment.

Titan, on the other hand, has previously competed in TNA and had also been under a WWE developmental contract at Florida Championship Wrestling.

While both men are friends, they have something to prove to themselves, each other and the fans as seen in these interviews conducted by NWA Ring Warriors announcer Dan Masters after their January 18th victories.

While winning the NWA Ring Warriors Grand Championship is a prize in and of itself, as the winner gets bragging rights as the best the state has to offer, the match carries an added level of importance. In addition to scoring a victory on a show that has become high profile, the newly crowned Grand Champion gets an opportunity to be seen on an international stage as he will make his first title defense on March 30th at Ring of Honor’s “Showdown in the Sun – Day 1” as part of the promotional crossover between the two companies.

At “Battle of the Belts” ROH executive Jim Cornette will be on hand presenting a challenger from the ROH roster to face current NWA World Heavyweight Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce in the main event.

Other matches on the card are:

NWA World Tag Team Champions The Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavis) facing former WWE and NWA World Tag Team Champs the Headbangers (Mosh & Thrasher) and The Red Devil Fight Team (Mikhail Ivanov & Aleksander Chekov) with manager Brett Adams and “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff, in a three-way dance;

NWA National Heavyweight Champion “The Dark Child” Chance Prophet meeting The Tokyo Monster Kahagas in a Steel Cage Match with the New Heavenly Bodies (“Casanova” Chris Nelson “Vivacious” Vito DeNucci) as special enforcement officials;

The current TNA World TV Champion Robbie E. meeting the ECW Original, Stevie Richards, in a Non-Title Match;

DX’s “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn taking on Vordell Walker in a Grudge Match;
