The Booker Premiers at Atlanta Film Fest, Up for Online Sales.
Atlanta based Beast OA Films premiered it’s latest documentary, ‘The Booker’, at the 2012 Atlanta Film Festival this past week to solid crowds and good reviews. Immediately following the premier, the film went on sale at the Beast OA Films website.
“We were really excited about the turnout and response to our movie at the fest and now that we’ve had our world premier we felt it was time to open this film up for people who aren’t your typical film fest audience.” said the films director Michael Perkins.
The Booker follows Steve Scarborough as he takes Platinum Championship Wrestling from idea to reality. Shot over the course of 4 years, we see his wrestling school grow into a wrestling promotion, from working in the back room of a theater space with 4 students to holding a show at a 2,500 seat arena. Through false starts, dealing with shady promoters, and trying to get his philosophy of pro wrestling out into the mainstream, Steve finds out just what it takes to be a pro wrestling booker.
“There are quite a few documentaries out there about indie pro wrestling, and there are some good ones, but we went a different direction with this movie, following one man’s journey, one man’s struggles in the indie scene,” said Perkins. “This is a much more personal film, a more in depth look at what it really takes to be a successful booker in the wrestling business.”
The film is available on DVD at www.BeastOAFilms.com and is priced at $18. For more information or high res photos, please contact Beast OA Films via the information below.
Beast OA Films is an Atlanta based documentary company. In business since 2003, they have produced films ranging in subject from musical improvisers (“On the Fly”) to supercross teams (“The Highest Level”) to universal pre-k programs (“First Come, First Served”). The entirety 2010 was spent on a commissioned 10 episode doc series, “The Superbike Family,” which aired in early 2011 on HD Theater. Beast OA is currently touring “The Booker” at film festivals around the country and is in production on “I Work With The Dead,” a film about people who work with cadavers daily.
