Ring of Honor on Sinclair

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s ROH on Sinclair recap. If you all are ready, then let’s get on with the show!
We see the usual intro, then Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show, from the Rostarver Ice Garden in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. Kelly & Nigel say we will learn the identity of the new ROH matchmaker, plus the TV Title is defended as Kyle O’Reilly challenges champion Adam Cole.
We are supposed to kick off with the Women of Honor, but instead we hear the familiar music of #DemBoys as The Briscoes make their way to the ring, with Mark carrying a big ROH flag.
Jay has a mic and says before we get this party started, he wants the entire ROH roster to come out to ringside.
The roster then comes out and stands around the ring, sans a few people.
Jay says he doesn’t see Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team out here because they are rich a**holes. He doesn’t see Jay Lethal out here because he has a problem currently with ROH management, but Jay knows Lethal has their back. However, the one who is of the biggest absence out at ringside is S.C.U.M., the group that is trying to bring down ROH and thinks it cool to disrespect ROH.
Jay says that his biggest problem with S.C.U.M. is that they have brainwashed the fans to think its cool to knock and s**t on ROH. Jay says when you knock ROH, you knock the entire ROH roster, you’re knocking the Briscoes, you’re knocking Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, you’re knocking everyone that has made ROH the best damn pro wrestling company in the world.
The crowd chants “ROH” as Jay says that S.C.U.M’s reign of terror is getting ready to come to an end. Jay says that Jay Lethal put Jim Cornette in the hospital, so ROH doesn’t have a matchmaker right now. So, he and his brother loaded up their pick-up, got a few cases of beer and rose down to Louisville to meet Jim Cornette and they got some s**t straightened out. Jay says that they talked to all of the ROH roster and they got some s**t straightened out. Jay says that there is a new matchmaker in ROH, a man that has busted his ass and will restore honor in ROH.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the new matchmaker………..NIGEL MCGUINNESS!”
Nigel gets up from the commentary table and gets into the ring, shakes Jay & Mark’s hands as the crowd loudly cheers for him. Nigel gets a mic and asks Jay what does that flag say? Jay says its says ROH. Nigel says what does that say on top? Jay says Ring of Honor. Nigel says Honor, that is what ROH was built on, that is what we believed in. Nigel says that when he 1st dreamed of being a pro wrestler, ROH didn’t even exist. But, for better or worse, it was in ROH that my dream became a reality. Yet, that ROH, I don’t know where its gone. I still see signs of it, I see guys coming out here and having the best damn wrestling matches in the world. I see an unparalleled passion and love for pro wrestling. And I see a profound respect for the guys that built ROH and the guys who have continued to keep ROH going. Being a wrestler in ROH makes you proud. Nigel says he remembers people coming up to him and says that you ROH wrestlers think you’re the best wrestlers in the world.
“YOUR DAMN RIGHT WE DO!”
So when the wrestlers came to him and asked him to step up and become the new matchmaker, what was I gonna say, no? I said if we’re in this together, I’ll do it, we’ll take back ROH, we the people. The people that believe in ROH and the people the ROH fans want to see in an ROH ring. Like it or not, the fans want to see Kevin Steen, I’d be a fool to ignore it. But, they also want to see someone else. So, in my 1st act as matchmaker, at Final Battle, in the main event, Kevin Steen defending the ROH World Title against EL GENERICO!
The crowd begins the “Ole” chant as Nigel says as difficult as it was to get Generico for that match when he talked to him, Generico made only one request and it was these 2 words:
“LADDER WAR!”
The crowd chants “Ladder War” as Nigel says now we need opponents for Corino & Jacobs at Final Battle. Nigel brings up that both Coleman & Alexander and The Briscoes are 1-1 with Corino & Jacobs so at Final Battle, it will be Corino & Jacobs vs. Coleman & Alexander AND The Briscoes for the ROH Tag Team Titles in an old-school ROH 3-way!
Jay says that is a hell of a plan for Final Battle. Jay says that ROH doesn’t raise the bar, ROH is the damn bar! We symbolize excellence in pro wrestling! ROH is back, we’re getting S.C.U.M. outta here!
“THIS IS ROH AND HONOR LIVES!”
The wrestlers around the ring lead the crowd in a big “ROH” chant as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Kelly talks to Nigel about his new job as matchmaker before we go to our opening match.
Women of Honor: “The AK47″ Allysin Kay” vs. “Your Soul’s Tormentor” MsChif
Code of Honor adhered to as the bell sounds. MsChif with a wristlock, but Kay sends her to the mat. Kay backs MsChif to the corner, then piefaces her, but then MsChif with a hard slap, followed by a clothesline. MsChif with a corner whip, followed by a charging back elbow. MsChif tries for a suplex, but Kay blocks it, lifts up MsChif and drives her backfirst multiple times into the corner. Kay with a running Mafia kick, followed by a soccer kick to the ribs. Kay with a nonchalant cover as she does her “Pinkies Up!” hand gesture, but then MsChif with a takedown and hooks Kay with a double chickenwing while delivering a series of chest clubs. MsChif then does her infamous scream in the face of Kay. Kay then reverses a corner whip and connects with a clothesline for a nearfall. Kay with a chinlock, then hits a big forearm that knocks down MsChif. MsChif then ducks under a forearm and hits a gut punch. MsChif with a facebuster for a nearfall. Kay lifts up MsChif and hits a running Samoan Drop for another nearfall. Kay lifts up, but MsChif counters with a Sunset flip for a nearfall. Kay misses a clothesline and MsChif gets on Kay’s shoulders and takes her over in a O’Connor Roll with a bridge for another nearfall. Kay with another big forearm, then lifts up MsChif and hits a version of the Full Throttle for a close nearfall. Kay can’t believe it as she goes for a head kick, but MsChif catches her foot and kicks her down low.
MsChif then hits the Descerater for the victory.
Winner: “Your Soul’s Tormentor” MsChif by pinfall (Descerater)

Roderick Strong vs. Tadarius Thomas
Truth Martini comes out to ringside before the bell sounds and wants to be in Strong’s corner, but Strong will have none of it. Strong puts his hand out for the Code of Honor, but instead proceeds to mock Thomas’s Capoiera style. Martini then joins the commentary table as the bell sounds. They exchange go-behinds and amateur style wrestling to start things off as Martini mentions on commentary that after talking to Rhino, he is “releasing” him after what happened at Glory by Honor XI. Strong with a wristlock, but Thomas counters out with a hook kick. Thomas with a suplex for a 1 count. Strong with a knee to the gut, followed by a pair of hard chops and a forearm. Thomas reverses a whip, but Strong sidesteps a backdrop attempt. Thomas then uses some evasion tactics to avoid Strong and does a little cartwheel action that sends Strong to the apron. Strong comes back with a shoulder to the gut, then tries for a suplex to the outside, but Thomas goes onto the apron. They trade forearms until Strong with a boot while Martini says that Elgin wants a match with Strong, but it will never happen because the House of Truth is still united, to which Kelly calls him delusional. Strong then lifts up Thomas in a Torture Rack position and THROWS HIM INTO THE TURNBUCKLES!
Thomas goes down to the outside as Strong brings him back in and gains a nearfall. Strong stomps away at Thomas, who begins to fight back, but then Strong with a slap and a forearm. Strong with a pair of chops, but Thomas with one of his own. Strong with some more chops, then Thomas again fights back with forearms and a headbutt. Strong reverses a corner whips, but runs into boots by Thomas. However, Strong comes back by catching Thomas with a leg lariat for a nearfall. Thomas again fights back, then goes off the ropes, but Strong follows him in on the blind side and nails him with a knee to the gut. Thomas then avoids a Strong roaring elbow and nails him with a Capoiera style kick.
Thomas with a pair of gut punches, followed by a leaping right hand. Thomas with a spinning back kick, followed by another Capoiera style kick. Thomas with a Sling Blade for a nearfall. Strong avoids another Capoiera style kick and drives Thomas backfirst into the corner. Strong with a leaping knee in the corner, followed by a charging forearm. Thomas then lands on his feet off a back suplex attempt and hits another Capoiera style kick for a nearfall. Strong then avoids another kick and hits a leaping knee strike.
Strong hits the End of Heartache on Thomas for the victory.
Winner: Roderick Strong by pinfall (End of Heartache)
After the match, Martini tries to come in and celebrate with Strong, but Strong shoves him aside. Strong gets a mic and tells Martini that he already told him that he quit the House of Truth. Strong says Martini is nothing but a dweeb and a piece of s**t.
Strong leaves as Martini tries to plead with him while we go, to commercial.

“Inside Ring of Honor”
We 1st look at the main event for Final Battle of Kevin Steen vs. El Generico, where we see footage of the end of Glory by Honor XI when Steen was delivered a package with a Generico mask inside. We then see video of Final Battle 2010 when Generico defeated Steen in a mask vs. ROH career match.
Next, we look at the 3-way tag title match between Corino & Jacobs, Coleman & Alexander & The Briscoes. We go to comments from C & C.
Alexander says Nigel made the match and although they and the Briscoes can agree that they wanna beat S.C.U.M, where do they go from here? Coleman says that they and the Briscoes can agree with their hate of S.C.U.M., but here is some advice. You don’t mess with a hungry man’s plate, you don’t play with a pimp’s money and you don’t mess with C & C when we’re going for the gold.
Next, we look at the match between Adam Cole & Matt Hardy and a look at their history, which starts with Hardy’s comments to Cole at Death Before Dishonor X. We go to some more comments from Hardy.
Hardy says that the match has been made between he & Cole for Final Battle and it doesn’t make a difference how much potential Adam Cole has, I have nothing to prove. Cole has everything to prove at Final Battle, you have something to lose, but everything to gain. Hardy tells Cole to bring everything he has and to show people that he can come out of the shadow of Matt Hardy. Because at Final Battle, you may think you have a date with destiny, but you may very well end up facing a very unfortunate Twist of Fate!
Next, Michael Elgin has demanded a match with Roderick Strong at Final Battle because of Strong getting involved at Glory by Honor XI in Elgin’s ROH Title match challenging Kevin Steen, then attacking him after the match. We go to comments from Elgin.
Elgin says Truth Martini better get his head checked because he constantly asks him to get the match made with Strong and if Truth can’t get it done, ROH officials, Nigel, me & Strong at Final Battle, but the blood will be your hands because it won’t happen in a ROH ring.
Kelly says that Nigel will make a decision on that match next week, but someone without an opponent for Final Battle is Jay Lethal, who we now go to comments from.
Lethal says that Cornette told him to get a “Killer Instinct” and you’ll get a title shot, well I did that. I got the shot, but in that match, my parents got spit on. And then, when I do something about, I’m labeled the bad guy, I get fined, Joe Koff pulls me in his office, most importantly, I’m frozen from the ROH title picture. How is that when I won Survival of the Fittest which guarantees me a title shot? But, I can’t cash in that title shot until that fat son of a b***h loses the title. ROH, you think you have seen Jay Lethal at his worst? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Back from commercial and before our main event, Nigel is holding a new ROH TV Title belt which he says he will present to the winner of our main event. Nigel also says at Final Battle, former ROH champion, Jerry Lynn, will compete in his final ROH match.
Main Event for the Ring of Honor Television Title: “The Panama City Playboy” Adam Cole (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly
Code of Honor not adhered to as the bell sounds. Both men jockey for position in the opening lock-up until O’Reilly backs Cole into the corner. Both men then avoid when the other goes for a right hand off the clean break. O’Reilly with a waistlock, then an uppercut before going to a side headlock. O’Reilly with a shoulder tackle off a whip, Cole with a leapfrog, then stops himself when O’Reilly tries for a leapfrog and catches him with an inverted atomic drop. Cole with a clothesline, then hits a forearm as O’Reilly held onto the ropes to avoid being whipped. Cole with another forearm, then O’Reilly reverses a whip, but Cole holds onto the ropes. O’Reilly charges, then lands on the apron when Cole tried to backdrop him to the outside. Cole then comes back with a leaping enziguri that sends O’Reilly to the outside. Cole gets a head of steam, looking for a dive, but O’Reilly catches him with a forearm. O’Reilly gets in the ring and looks for a dive, but now its Cole who catches O’Reilly coming in, this time with another leaping enziguri. Cole gets another head of steam and this time connects with a tope dive, sending O’Reilly into the barricade. Crowd chants “ROH” as Cole sends O’Reilly multiple times into the barricade. Back in the ring, Cole heads up top and leaps off, but O’Reilly catches him in mid-air with a dropkick for a nearfall. O’Reilly hits a back elbow off of a whip for a nearfall as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial as O’Reilly charges, but runs into boots by Cole in the corner. Cole heads up to the middle rope, but O’Reilly grabs his leg and sends Cole crashing down to the mat below for another nearfall. O’Reilly with a kick to the back, followed by a running knee drop for another nearfall. O’Reilly locks in a seated abdominal stretch as we see Davey Richards heads out to ringside. O’Reilly with a nearfall as Davey sits down on commentary and asks Nigel if he can make a happen a face-to-face meeting between he & O’Reilly for next week. O’Reilly & Cole trade forearms until Cole gains advantage, but then O’Reilly with a series of strikes, finishing with a leg sweep. Nigel says to Davey he’ll do it, no problem. O’Reilly with another nearfall as Davey leaves and heads to the back. O’Reilly with a slam, then begins to head up top, but sees Richards and they stare each other down. However, O’Reilly takes his eye off the match as Cole with a kick to the leg, then nails O’Reilly with a slingshot DDT, spiking O’Reilly’s head on the apron. Back in the ring, Cole heads up top and hits a big splash for a nearfall. Crowd chants “This is awesome” as Cole tries for the Florida Key, but O’Reilly breaks free with elbows. Cole blocks an O’Reilly running kick, trips him down and tries for the Figure 4, but O’Reilly kicks him off. O’Reilly with an axe kick, a roaring forearm, but then Cole counters a Saito suplex with a Sunset flip, then goes again for the Figure 4, but O’Reilly counters with an inside cradle for a nearfall. O’Reilly with a spin kick to the gut, Cole with a pump kick, O’Reilly with a clothesline, then Cole stops himself when O’Reilly puts his hands around his head to avoid a superkick and nails Cole with a roundhouse kick, followed by a Regalplex for another nearfall. O’Reilly locks Cole in a Triangle Choke while hitting the head with elbows, but Cole counters with a roll-up for a nearfall.
Crowd chants “ROH” as they meet in the center on their knees and trade slaps, then forearms when they get to their feet. Both men then slug it out in the center with O’Reilly gaining the advantage. O’Reilly goes off the ropes, but Cole follows him in and hits a forearm. Cole goes off the ropes, but O’Reilly follows him in this time, hitting a leaping knee strike. O’Reilly with a Tornado DDT, then holds on and hits a brainbuster for a nearfall, then goes right into the front guillotine choke. Cole gets to his feet and is then able to counter out with the brainbuster across the knee. Crowd chants “This is wrestling” as Cole with a superkick to the back of O’Reilly’s head when they get to their feet.
Cole then hits the Florida Key for the victory.

Cole celebrates his win and Nigel presents Cole with the new ROH TV Title belt, raising his hand as we go to credits.
