Dark Angel Officially Beginning with TNA
Tonight during TNA’s Impact broadcast they aired a vignette hyping up new Knockout, Sarita (who wrestles as Dark Angel in CMLL). In the vignette they showed several clips of Sarita in CMLL underneath a latin rap song. In the promo it revealed that she debuts in 3 weeks! I had hoped TNA would have the package up on youtube by now but they don?t.

Ultimo Guerrero vs. Shocker – Mask vs. Hair Possibly?
Last week after the announcement of Dos Caras Jr. going to the WWE the current (and man who defeated Dos Caras Jr. for the belt) CMLL Heavyweight Champion, Ultimo Guerrero, suggested that he face Shocker in a Hair vs. Mask Match at September 76th Anniversary Show. Dos Caras Jr. and Shocker have been for quite some time and it was planned for them to headline the show in a Mask vs. Hair Match but that is obviously not possible now. Guerrero said that they have been rivals for 8 years and knew that if CMLL gave them the opportunity on that huge stage they would deliver. Shocker said that he would love to take Guerrero’s mask but he wanted another shot at the CMLL Heavyweight Title first. Expect both to happen.

AAA

This Year’s “Verano de Escandalo” Moved Up
AAA announced this week that this year’s “Verano de Escandalo” (Summer of Scandal) PPV would be moved up to August 16th and will take place in Monterrey. They’ve moved up to put more space between it and the Antonio Pena Memorial Show.

AAA Video Game Coming to America
For awhile now AAA has been promoting the fact that they are putting together a video game with upstart publisher, Slang, which is titled “AAA: El Videojuego (The Video Game)” which will be the first Mexican Wrestling game and will be available for XBox 360, Playstaion 3, Wii, PSP, & Nintendo DS. Well, this week Gamespot.com and AAA revealed that the video game will also be available in the United States! Their target release is late 2009 or early 2010 for Latin American and the United States. THey haven’t released a full (or even partial) roster yet but the teaser trailer shows Charly Manson, Electroshock, La Parka Jr., Konnan, El Elegido, Psycho Circus, El Mesias, Abismo Negro (I think), Vampiro, Chessman, Psicosis II (even though he’s left the promotion), Octagon, and that’s really all I could tell from the teaser. No word on if the game will be in English for the United States or not (probably not) but here is the teaser trailer for those that would like to see:

Cibernetico Returns to AAA
At Sunday nights AAA TV Taping Cibernetico jumped Dr. Wagner Jr. during his rematch with El Mesias and then hugged with Mesias. Ciber said that he had been hunting Wagner on the INDY scene and now that Wagner was in AAA he would continue his hunt there. Ciber had been competing on the INDY scene for about 6 months since his depature from AAA. After the show he said that he wasn’t bailing on Los Bizarros and said they would be coming into AAA (doubtful).
Cibernetico returns to AAA by laying out the new champion (courtesy of box y lucha):

AAA 06/20 TV Taping Results
1) Malefico, Sirus Black, & Sirus Black Jr. def. Black Corzo, Melgor, & Pesdilla
2) Aerostar, Fabi Apache, & Mari Apache def. Billy Boy, Cinthia Moreno, & Sexy Star
3) Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, & Ultimo Gladiador def. Decnnis, Joe Lider, & Nicho el Millionario
4) Teddy Hart def. Jack Evans
5) La Parka Jr., Latin Lover, & Marco Corleone def. Chessman, Electroshock, & Oriental
6) El Mesias fought Dr. Wagner Jr. to a NO CONTEST
* NOTES *
– Billy Boy supposedly took a hard Powerbomb and Brainbuster from Mari Apache and may be gone for awhile (probably punishement from the arrest).
– Teddy & Jack was said to be great but Hijo de Tirantes helped Teddy so Joaquin Roldan suspended him indefinitely. Tirantes Sr. came out and vowed revenge for his family.
– Cibernetico made his return in the Main Event by jumping Wagner and then hugging Mesias. Ciber then challenged Wagner to a match for the AAA Mega Heavyweight Title. Both Ciber & Wagner were booked for a PdM Show on this same night, ouch.

AAA 06/21 Arena Coliseo de Monterrey Results
1) Invasor def. Gallo de Oro
2) Ejecutor & Mr. Secuestro def. Aguila Azteca & Aguila Extrema
3) AAA Northern Tag Titles #1 Contenders Match: El Relampago & TDN def. Epidemius & Virtual X
4) Pasion Kristal, Polvo de Estrellas, & Yuriko def. Rio Bravo, Tito Santana II, & Tigre Cota
5) El Elegido & Octagon def. Escoria & Ozz

AAA 06/30 TV Taping Lineup
1) Gato Eveready & Octagoncito vs. Mini Abismo Negro & Yuriko
2) Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero vs. Cuervo & Escoria
3) El Elegido & Fabi Apache vs. Sexy Star & Decnnis
4) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, & La Parka Jr. vs. Electroshock, Teddy Hart, & Mystery Partner
5) El Mesias & Cibernetico vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. & Silver King
* NOTES *
– The Main Event is listing as Mesias having a Mystery Partner, but come on we know who it’s going to be. Best thing seeing this lineup is that Wagner & Silver King are finally teaming together. Even though it was Ciber that jumped Wagner, they are making Wagner the rudo and Ciber the tecnico.

AAA 07/26 Lucha Expo Lineup
1) Laredo Kid, Super FLy, & Aerostar vs. Tigre Cota, Rio Bravo, & Tito Santana II
2) Nicho el Millionario & Joe Lider vs. Teddy Hart & Jack Evans

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Fuerza & Juventud Guerrera Form New Promotion
Yesterday Juventud Guerrera, Fuerza Guerrera, & Juan Israel Gonzalez announced that they were starting their own promotion called Super X GPCW (I’m still unclear on what the letters stand for). They were extremely excited about this new promotion and said they would be bringing in many of the top INDY talent in lucha including Psicosis II, Histeria, Trauma I & II, El Alebrije, Turbo, Pequeno Halloween, and many more stars from the EAW, PdM, and IWRG promotions. Also, they announced that they would be bringing in Chris Masters, Rob Van Dam, Rikishi, Mr. Kennedy, Sabu, & Austin Aries from the United States for a huge USA vs. Mexico show. Juventud also announced they would be forming a women’s division called the Chicas Super X Division. No dates have been announced for the groupd yet, but I have to say that this group actually sounds very interesting but so many groups have tried and failed recently that you can’t get very excited. The following is a great picture from the press conference showing Juvi, Fuerza, & Gonzalez along with tons of great INDY talent (courtesy of Juventud’s myspace):

Perro Blames Ciber & Wagner for PdM Disaster
Perro Aguayo Jr. blasted Cibernetico and Dr. Wagner Jr. for not showing up at the PdM show this past weekend that was a complete disaster for the promotion. Not only did they only draw around 800 people and 2 of the top stars didn’t show, but the ring also broke in the middle of the show. Many have speculated that this could be the end of PdM but Perro made sure to tell everyone that it was not and Perros del Mal would continue to run shows. Perro claims that he was under the impression that both Wagner and Ciber would be at the show this weekend. I can beleive Ciber because his return was a surprise but Wagner has been promoted for that AAA TV Taping for over 2 weeks so that could not have come as a surprise to Perro. Regardless, I hope it’s not the end for the promotion as I had high hopes that they could become that third big promotion eventually but to me it definitely seems like possibly the end.

The Lucha Libre Expo Back on July 24-26
The Lucha Expo held a press conference this week to announce that the postponed (due to the Swine Flu) Lucha Libre Expo for this year had been officially rescheduled to July 24, 25, & 26 and would feature some huge lucha cards from the likes of CMLL, IWRG, AAA, DTU, and many of the top INDY promotions (full cards for each show in here as well).

2 More Mexican Luchadores Added to CHIKARA Young Lions Cup
CHIKARA announced some exciting news this week when they revealed that Turbo and Skayde (Jorge Rivera) had been added to the Young Lions Cup Night 2 show in August! A few weeks ago I reported on Mascarita Dorada and Pierrothito being booked for the show, well, now Dorada will be teaming with Turbo and Pierrothito will be teaming with Skayde to face each other in a big Lucha Tag Match! Turbo is widely considered as one of the top young high flyers in Mexico and Skayde’s top student, and is the current reigning NWA Mexican Lightweight Champion (defeating Skayde earlier this year for the belt). Both have competed in CHIKARA in the past and this match is sure to be one of the most excited on what looks like could be one of the best CHIKARA cards of the year!

Super Crazy To All Japan
This week All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) announced that Super Crazy would be brought in for this years Junior League Tournament to be held in July and August. Also, former WWE and WCW star Kaz Hayashi, former NJPW star Minoru, and former TNA star Petey Williams will also participate in the tournament. The following is the complete list of participants in the tournament:

1) Kaz Hayashi
2) Shuji Kondo
3) KAI
4) Hiroshi Yamato
5) NOSAWA
6) MAZADA
7) Minoru
8) Toshizo
9) Petey Williams
10) Super Crazy

The tournament begins on July 26th and ends on August 7th. Super Crazy is the only luchadore in this years tournament which typically showcases at least one luchadore each year. In the first Junior League Tournament in 2006 current CMLL high flyer, Virus, was featured in the tournament. In 2007 there was no lucha star involved (the only year there wasn’t) but in 2008 Silver King made it all the way to the Finals (losing to Kai). Surprisingly foriegners typically do well in this tournament as TNA’s Chris Sabin actually won the tournament in 2007 and of course Silver King making it to the Finals in 2008.

Ophidian Suffers Severe Injury
This past weekend one half of the CHIKARA Tag Team Champions, Ophidian, suffered a severally broken arm while competing in an INDY Tag Tournament in Michigan. The injury will require surgery and knocks him out of both DGUSA’s debut show (more on that below) but also knocks him out of this years Young Lions Cup as well. Below is a picture of the X-Ray of his arm (courtesy of Chikarafans):

DGUSA Anounces New Match, Hall of Fame WWE Announcers to Appear in Chicago, & Injury
This past weekend CHIKARA and DGUSA announced the final rudo for the 8-Man CHIKARA Tag Match and I said I suspected (and said was likely last week) it’s the other half of the CHIKARA Tag Champs, Ophidian, but late this week it was announced that Ophidian suffered a broken arm this past weekend and would have to pull out of the show due to the injury. His replacement will be named soon. Also, DGUSA anounced (in conjunction with Highspots.com) that WWE announcers (and Hall of Famers) Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler would be signing autographs at the DGUSA show in Chicago on August 6th! Also, the third Main Event for the 7/25 “Open The Historic Gate” debut DGUSA show has been announced as BxB Hulk will be going one-on-one with YAMATO! 2 Cold Scorpio will in action in a singles against an as-of-yet unnamed opponent.

3) Derek Sanders & Zack Reeb def. Polyester Express
4) Octagoncito def. Pierrothito
5) Hijo de Rey Mysterio, Ulysses, & El Amante def. Vaquero Fantasma, Blackfish, & Rockero del Diablo
6) Blue Demon Jr. def. Oliver John
* NOTES *
– Originally in the Main Event Oliver Jon challenged Blue Demon Jr. to a NWA World Title Match and he pinned Demon to win the belt, but then another Blue Demon Jr., the REAL Blue Demon, showed up carrying a black Title belt (the fake Demon was wearing the old red belt that Demon had previously been holding) and challenged Jon to a Non-Title Match right there. Demon then went on to pin Jon. Jon claims to be the rightful NWA Champion but Demon is in possession of the ?Official? NWA World Title which had been presented to him earlier in the week. NWA Officials will resolve this matter on the next PWR show.

4) IWRG Intercontinental Lightweight Title: Trauma II def. Zatura (c) to win the title!
5) Dr. Cerebro def. Juventud Guerrera
* NOTES *
– This was Zatura’s first defense of the Lightweight Title and him losing it makes him the 2nd straight Champion to never successfully defend the belt which isn’t a good thing because there has only been 3 Champions (not including the new champion) and the original champion Freelance only successfully defended the belt once. Hopefully Trauma has better luck but I doubt it.
– Juventud challenged Cerebro to a Hair Match and he accepted. It will take place on July 2nd.

3) Damian666, Perro Aguayo Jr., & Super Crazy def. L.A. Park, Olimpico, & Super Porky
* NOTES *
– This was said to be a complete disaster. The ring broke in the 2nd match which took over an hour to fix and then the scheduled Main Event of Perro vs. Cibernetico was obviously canceled iwth him showing up at the AAA Taping. Not a good sign for a young INDY promotion. I hope this isn’t the end for them but it could be. Said to have drawn less than 800 fans and when I say the ring broke I mean it BROKE (courtesy of super luchas):
