WWE issues statement on Hulk Hogan TMZ report

Following an earlier report on Friday that WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was close to returning to WWE by TMZ, WWE issued the following statement to TMZ in response to the report on Friday afternoon.

“WWE applauds the work Hulk Hogan is doing with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to turn what was a negative into a positive by helping young people learn from his mistake. While he has taken many steps in the right direction since we parted ways, Hogan is not currently under contract to WWE.”

WWE Backlash PPV Kickoff Match

Bayley vs. Ruby Riott was announced on Friday via Twitter as the Kickoff Match for this Sunday’s WWE Backlash PPV live from Newark, New Jersey on WWE Network and traditional PPV.

The Kickoff Show begins airing on WWE Network and various other outlets at 7:00 PM ET, with the main show beginning at 8:00 PM ET.

The updated card for the event is as follows:

* WWE Championship, No Disqualification: AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

* Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

* WWE Intercontinental Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs. The Miz

* WWE United States Championship: Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Randy Orton

* Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass

* RAW Women’s Championship: Nia Jax (c) vs. Alexa Bliss

* Smackdown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Carmella

* Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley

* Kickoff Show Match: Bayley vs. Ruby Riott
