Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty”. This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE PPV. This weekend we look over the Night of Champions PPV.

The card features a good amount of matches. Since the card was announced, I don’t see why we have to edit anything unless some strange twist happens on the card.

As for the columnists, David Stephens and Josh Boutwell continue to be in a deadlocked tie as we approach the half-way point. Both co-Deans posted a 5-3 prediction record in the last PPV we predicted.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on WrestleView provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case it will be Royal Rumble 2011).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “WrestleView Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings. We all thank you for your participation.

Before I show the class our selections, here are the rankings as of TNA’s No Surrender.

Standings (as of TNA’s No Surrender)

2010-2011 Season

1) David Stephens (That’s a Wrap and RAW Recapper)………….65-37 (5-3)
2) Josh Boutwell (Viva La Raza and TNA Recapper)……………….65-37 (5-3)
3) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings)……………………………………62-40 (4-4)
4) Students of the Week (The Best from Prev. PPV)………………62-40 (4-4)*
5) Matt O’Brien (Notes From The Nosebleeds)…………………………59-43 (4-4)
6) Anthony Valvo (From the Desk of Mr. V/ROH Recaps)……….59-43 (4-4)
7) Daniel Browne (For Queen and Country)……………………………..59-43 (5-3)
8) WrestleView Students (The Loyal Readers)………………………..59-43 (5-3)
9) Doug Lackey (Reality From Ringside)…………………………………..52-42 (NR)

12) Sean Hurley (The Sharpshooter)………………………………………..28-32 (NR)
13) Joe Baiamonte (Baiamonte’s Casa/2009 WV Champ)………24-20 (NR)

Craig Alan Cope is this weekend’s Student of the Week. Mr. Cope earned it because of his very impressive 7-1 record from the previous PPV (his only loss two weeks ago was the Angle/Jeff Hardy no contest).

Absent as of press time are: Daniel Browne, Doug Lackey, and Mike Tedesco. If I get their picks after the article is released I will place them under the comments tab below the article.

So without future adieu, here are the choices for WWE’s Night of Champions.

Predictions for WWE’s Night of Champions

Non-Title Match
The Big Show vs. CM Punk

David S. – CM PUNK.

Josh B. – THE BIG SHOW.

Jose M. – CM PUNK.

Craig C. – CM PUNK wins by not being so straight edged. He might even have expanded his society with some new blood into the SES – most notably a few of the NXT Season 2 combatants.

Matt O. – CM PUNK.

Anthony V. – This match is going to be interesting and probably “filler”. The Big Show has been on a major run with the Straightedge Society and right now (and I don’t care how he does it) is the best time for CM PUNK to get a victory, either by a cheap tactic or clean.

Jeff S. – THE BIG SHOW.

Consensus: CM PUNK 5, The Big Show 2.

***Championship Matches***

For the Unified Divas/Women’s Championship
Lumberjill Match
Divas Champion Melina vs. “Co”-Women’s Champion Michelle McCool

David S. – MICHELLE MCCOOL.

Josh B. – MICHELLE MCTAKER (MCCOOL).

Jose M. – MELINA.

Craig C. – MELINA wins by using her skills coupled with Layla’s distress at not being the Laycool Representative.

Matt O. – MCCOOL.

Anthony V. – I don’t know about anyone, but Melina’s run has been flat (maybe because of a lack of competition) since returning. I think the best thing for this division is to give the titles to Laycool, so I am going with MICHELLE MCCOOL and we will get more LayCool.

Jeff S. – MICHELLE MCCOOL.

Consensus: MICHELLE MCCOOL 5; Melina 2.

For the United States Championship
The Miz (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

David S. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Josh B. – THE MIZ.

Jose M. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Craig C. – THE MIZ wins. Daniel Bryan definitely out-wrestles The Miz with the exception of the finishing move that surprises Daniel. The feud continues.

Matt O. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Anthony V. – The Miz is the Wild Card in this entire PPV. If he loses this match, I think he tries to cash in Money in the Bank. However, I don’t think it will happen now. Bryan still has indy bookings I think, so it is not smart to give him the title. I say THE MIZ retains the title for now and possibly Bryan wins it on one of the PPVs in October.

Jeff S. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Consensus: DANIEL BRYAN 4; The Miz 3.

For the Intercontinental Championship
If Dolph Ziggler gets counted out or disqualified, Kofi Kingston will win the IC Title.
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

David S. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Josh B. – ZIGGLES (ZIGGLER).

Jose M. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Craig C. – With some intervention from the The Cougar, DOLPH wins after Kofi gets hoodwinked into some underhanded, seemingly illegal, broken rules.

Matt O. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Anthony V. – If I did not watch NXT, I would easily pick Ziggler. However if any of the readers watched how Ziggler was hugging Kaitlyn, I am not sure anymore. I think Vickie is going to do something here, but picking the winner is difficult. I am probably a minority in this, but I say KOFI KINGSTON wins the championship by disqualification.

Jeff S. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Consensus: DOLPH ZIGGLER 5; Kofi Kingston 2.

For the World Heavyweight Championship
No Holds Barred Match
Kane (c) vs. The Undertaker

David S. – KANE.

Josh B. – KANE.

Jose M. – THE UNDERTAKER.

Craig C. – KANE wins as the Undertaker still isn’t at one hundred percent. He puts on a near clinic but Kane proves that he still has the upperhand, the stamina and the drive. I believe that the Undertaker will retire the championship after the next Wrestlemania, but first he will try to overcome insurmountable odds to get there.

Matt O. – UNDERTAKER.

Anthony V. – It’s about time KANE gets the upper hand. Besides, Hell in a Cell is the next PPV that the WWE will have and I am sure The Undertaker will end up winning that round.

Jeff S. – KANE.

Consensus: KANE 5; The Undertaker 2.

For the WWE World Championship
Six-Pack Elimination Challenge
Sheamus (c) vs. Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton vs. John Cena vs. Wade Barrett

David S. – RANDY ORTON.

Josh B. – THE CENATION (JOHN CENA).

Jose M. – SHEAMUS.

Craig C. – This is a tough one to call but I can: eliminate Jericho, one of my favorites, due to his split focus on wrestling and Fozzy, eliminate Edge as he has lost his edge recently, eliminate Wade Barrett as he’s become more human with each match, and finally eliminate Cena as a result of him being the workhorse to eliminate the three aforementioned wrestlers. That leaves Sheamus vs Orton for the actual championship. With the ‘props’ from the Universe that Orton is getting, the diabolical skills that he is zoning into periodically, and the history that he has versus Sheamus, it would seem that I should pick Orton. But, it is called the night of champions and I feel that Sheamus will repeat as the champ allowing this storyline to continue. SHEAMUS Wins.

Matt O. – RANDY ORTON.

Anthony V. – I am actually taking out Edge (no way), Chris Jericho (best of luck), Wade Barrett (not yet), and John Cena (he does not need the title). I actually flipped a coin between Sheamus and Randy Orton. Orton has done everything right between the PPVs and is obviously the favorite. However, Sheamus really needs a big win like this to make himself an elite superstar (I still see him as a guy with tons of potential). In the end, I like to see Orton “the chaser” and not “the champ” right now. SHEAMUS retains the championship.

Jeff S. – WADE BARRETT.

Consensus: SHEAMUS 3; Randy Orton 2; John Cena 1; Wade Barrett 1.
