A video package runs focusing on CM Punk vs. Ryback and Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton to crown a new WWE Champion tonight.

A graphic opening hits welcoming us to WWE Battleground. We go live to the First Niagara Center where a big display of pyro goes off. Michael Cole welcomes us to the show as we get ready to kick off the show tonight with Alberto Del Rio defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Rob Van Dam.

Ricardo Rodriguez handled the ring introduction for the challenger Rob Van Dam. Lilian Garcia handled the ring introduction for the champion Alberto Del Rio who requested she do so in Spanish.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Battleground Hardcore Rules Match
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Rob Van Dam w/ Ricardo Rodriguez

The bell rings and Alberto Del Rio goes after Rob Van Dam right away getting him grounded. RVD responds with a quick kick through the ropes when Del Rio bails. RVD with a quick moonsault off the ring barricade catching Del Rio. RVD grabs a chair, hits Del Rio in the gut with it, tosses the chair back in, springboards over the ropes and catches Del Rio with a DDT on top of the chair. RVD with a two count. Del Rio fires back with a backstabber near the corner. Del Rio with kicks to the lower back of RVD. RVD catches Del Rio with a quick spin kick. RVD grabs a ladder and props it up in a corner inside the ring. Del Rio is launched into the ladder in the corner and crashes on the outside. Del Rio catches RVD with a kick to the head as RVD was looking to springboard off the ladder that was setup in the corner. Del Rio mocks RVD with an “A…D…R” pose. Del Rio grabs a garbage can and cracks it over the back of RVD repeatedly. RVD with a big dropkick sending the garbage can into the body of Del Rio as he jumped off the corner. RVD with a series of clotheslines and quick superkick that drop Del Rio. RVD drops Del Rio over the ladder near the corner. RVD with a corner split leg moonsault over Del Rio on the ladder. RVD gets a two count. RVD attempts Rolling Thunder, Del Rio moves and RVD crashes over the ladder. Del Rio gets the cross armbar applied. Ricardo grabs his bucket and cracks it over the left arm of Del Rio to break it up. RVD with a roll up for a close two count with the Ricardo distraction. Del Rio tosses RVD out.

Del Rio is yelling at Ricardo to give him the bucket. Ricardo hands it over, but then kicks Del Rio and cracks the bucket over Del Rio’s back. Del Rio bails. Ricardo jumps out. Del Rio grabs Ricardo and slams him against the ring barricade. Del Rio with a big kick to the head of Ricardo at ringside. Del Rio grabs a ladder and RVD kicks the ladder back into Del Rio through the bottom rope. Del Rio falls back with the ladder over him. RVD with a Five Star Frog Splash from the ring apron over Del Rio on top of the ladder. Both men roll around in pain after the spot. Both men are back in the ring. RVD has another chair and Del Rio is just starting to recover in the corner. RVD is calling for a Van Terminator. RVD jumps with the chair in hand, Del Rio moves and RVD lands hard on the mat. RVD with a jawbreaker when Del Rio tries to take him down. Del Rio had setup the chair and gives RVD a drop toe hold into it. Del Rio with a huge kick to the head of RVD. RVD falls back with his arm caught in the steel chair. Del Rio gets the cross armbar applied. RVD taps.

Winner and still WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio

After the match, we see another replay of Rob Van Dam missing the Van Terminator attempt. WWE is using a new slow motion camera tonight that looks great.

Backstage, Zeb Colter is with The Real Americans (Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro). Zeb insults the Buffalo audience saying they saw a bunch of Canadians “sneaking across the border” today.

Santino and The Great Khali w/ Hornswoggle vs. The Real Americans w/ Zeb Colter

We start with Santino Marell and Jack Swagger. Swagger with a quick shoulder tackle early on. Swagger with a quick headlock takedown. Santino with a shoulder tackle of his own followed by a scoop slam on Swagger. Santino with a quick hip toss and has the Cobra ready to strike. Hornswoggle runs up to Swagger at ringside who has a mini-Cobra ready to strike as well. Swagger pulls that off the hand of Hornswoggle and tears it up. Tag to Antonio Cesaro who connects with a big uppercut to Santino. Tag to Swagger who drives knees into Santino. Tag back to Cesaro who gets in a few shots. Tag back to Swagger who covers Santino for a two count. Tag to Khali who takes out Cesaro with a series of big clotheslines. Khali drops elbows over the shoulder of Cesaro in the corner and follows with a big chest chop. Khali with a second chest chop. Swagger breaks up a pin attempt by Khali. Khali with a chop to Swagger who was holding Santino back. Santino with a springboard dive that takes out Swagger on the outside. Cesaro avoids a big boot and hits the knee of Khali. Cesaro grabs the legs of Khali and takes him for a ride with the Cesaro swing! Cesaro covers Khali and gets the pinfall.

Winners: The Real Americans

After the match, we see a slow motion replay of the Cesaro swing on Khali.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Curtis Axel (c) w/ Paul Heyman vs. R-Truth

R-Truth with some quick shots to Curtis Axel early on including a big elbow. Truth with right hands to Axel in the corner. Truth clotheslines Axel over the top rope to the outside. Axel picks up Truth and drives him back first into the ring barricade. The referee is continuing a count. Both men are back in at 8. Axel with a cover and Truth quickly powers out. Axel catches Truth with a huge dropkick to the jaw. They catch a great shot of this on the new slow motion camera. Truth with a counter into a roll up for a close two count. Truth with an axe kick, hooks the leg and gets another two count. More counters between the two. Axel with his swinging neckbreaker finish driving Truth’s face into the mat. Axel gets the pinfall.

Earlier tonight, we see Dolph Ziggler defeating Damien Sandow during the pre-show.

WWE Divas Championship Match
AJ Lee (c) w/ Tamina Snuka vs. Brie Bella w/ Nikki Bella

Brie Bella goes after AJ Lee right away taking her down, mounting her and dropping big rights. AJ bails and Tamina gets in her face at ringside. AJ laughs and runs back to the ring. AJ grabs Brie, but Brie counters into a pinfall for a two count. Brie sends AJ into the corner and then catches her with a dropkick from the second turnbuckle for a two count. AJ sends Brie face first off the steel ring post near the corner. Back in the ring, AJ bounces Brie face first off the mat and then works over her left arm. AJ drops the left arm of Brie over the mat and yells at the referee after a two count. AJ with elbows to the back of Brie’s head repeatedly when Brie looked to attempt a bulldog. AJ goes for a skip, hits the ropes and eats a dropkick from Brie. Brie with a clothesline, dropkick and second dropkick on AJ. Brie with a backbreaker that results in a two count. At ringside we see that Tamina is choking Nikki. This distracts Brie allowing AJ to get the roll up for the pinfall.

A video package runs hyping the Rhodes family putting it all on the line tonight.

The Shield (c’s) w/ Dean Ambrose vs. Cody Rhodes and Goldust w/ Dusty Rhodes

We start with Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Rhodes with big kicks and a high back body drop on Rollins. Rollins bails. Rhodes with a dropkick to Roman Reigns when he hits the ring. Tag to Goldust who lights up Reigns with a series of right hands and quick uppercuts. We get a stare down between the Rhodes family and The Shield at ringside before everyone regroups back in the ring. Goldust with big rights to Reigns and a big clothesline. Tag to Cody as they hit a double gut shot. Reigns with a big knee to Cody. Tag to Rollins who chokes Cody with his boot. Cody catches Rollins with a big knee to the head and stomps over him in the corner. Rollins drops Cody face first in the corner. Reigns gets the tag and takes out Cody with a big shoulder tackle. Tag back to Rollins. Reigns holds Cody’s arms back and Rollins drops down with a big right. Rollins with a quick neckbreaker and two count on Cody. Cody attempts to fight back in the corner and gets cut off by Rollins propping him up on the top turnbuckle. Cody is falling back in the tree of woe and Rollins connects with kicks to the gut. Cody gets a boot to the jaw on Rollins and knocks Reigns off the ring apron. Cody connects with a huge moonsault over Rollins. Hot tag to Goldust. Clothesline and rights to Reigns followed by his vintage uppercut. Goldust with an atomic drop, boot to the leg and then drops rights to Reigns in the corner. Reigns misses a shot in the corner, Goldust goes up top and connects with a springboard cross body for a close two count on Reigns.

Goldust crashes and burns sliding out of the ring under the bottom rope when Reigns counters as he comes off the ropes. Rollins grabs Goldust at ringside and tosses him back first into the ring barricade. The referee starts a count. Goldust hits the ring right at the 9 count and kicks out after a pinfall attempt by Rollins right away. Reigns keeps Goldust grounded with a headlock. Reigns with a big clothesline on Goldust. Tag to Rollins who keeps Goldust grounded. Tag to Reigns who cuts off Goldust from getting a tag to Cody. Rollins tags himself in and Goldust catches him with a quick powerslam off the ropes. Hot tag to Cody who connects with a springboard dropkick to Rollins and knocks Reigns off the ring apron. Cody with a low blow kick and Alabama Slam on Rollins. Roll Tide. Cody catches Reigns with a knee when he tries jumping in, covers Rollins and gets a very close two count. Rollins with an elbow to Cody in the corner. Cody with a Muscle Buster on Rollins. Cody hooks the leg. Reigns breaks it up. Goldust is in attacking Reigns. Reigns catches Goldust with a big heart punch/clothesline combo. Cody connects with his kick to the head on Reigns and tosses him out. Cody also takes out Ambrose. Rollins with a shot to Cody. Dusty Rhodes takes off his belt, hits Ambrose and drops an elbow over the head of Ambrose at ringside! Goldust cuts off Reigns when he goes after Dusty. In the ring, Cody with the Cross Rhodes on Rollins. Cody hooks the leg and gets the pinfall! HUGE reaction in Buffalo!

Winners: Cody Rhodes and Goldust

Per the stipulation, Dusty Rhodes keeps his job with WWE and Cody Rhodes and Goldust earn a return to the roster. After the match, we see a shot of a crying Dusty Rhodes getting into the ring and hugging both Cody and Dustin. All three celebrate the big win. As they head up the ramp, members of the WWE roster and producers walk out to congratulate them.

We hear from the WWE Battleground panel with The Miz, Titus O’Neil and Tensai.

Bray Wyatt w/ Luke Harper and Erick Rowan vs. Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston with some quick rights and kicks early on. Bray Wyatt quickly cuts him off and hits a big splash in the corner. Wyatt drops a big elbow over the chest of Kingston on the ring apron. Wyatt keeps Kingston grounded applying a headlock holding back his arm. Kingston attempts a comeback, but Wyatt cuts him off with a big scoop slam. Wyatt drops a quick elbow. Wyatt catches Kingston with a big powerslam when Kingston attempts a springboard off the ropes. Wyatt continues to keep Kingston grounded with another headlock. Kingston connects with a Boom Drop. Wyatt with his huge full body tackle after hitting the ropes that completely levels Kingston. Wyatt leans back in the corner staring at Kingston. Wyatt falls to his arms and crawls backwards staring at Kingston. Kingston bails. Wyatt goes after him, Kingston jumps back in, hits the ropes and takes out The Wyatt Family with a big dive over the top rope. Back in the ring, Kingston with a quick cross body resulting in a two count. Kingston with a jawbreaker. Wyatt counters an S.O.S. with his Sister Abagail finisher for the win.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

After the match, Erick Rowan picks up Kofi Kingston and drops him over his knee. Luke Harper follows that up with a big clothesline. Bray Wyatt takes the mic and tells everyone to follow the buzzards as they stand over Kingston.

We see footage from earlier tonight of the Cesaro Swing on The Great Khali.

CM Punk vs. Ryback w/ Paul Heyman

Lock up and Ryback quickly pushes CM Punk to the mat. Loud “GOLDBERG” chants early on. Punk with kicks to the leg of Ryback. Ryback bails and goes for a walk. Ryback game plans with Paul Heyman at ringside and returns to the ring. Punk with more shots and Ryback again bails. Back in the ring, Punk is up top and connects with a cross body resulting in a two count. Punk with kicks to the chest of Ryback. Ryback cuts off Punk in the corner, puts him up on the top turnbuckle and drives him to the mat in a military slam. The crowd starts a “YOU CAN’T WRESTLE” chant at Ryback. Ryback yells back, “I don’t care!” Ryback sends Punk sliding into the steel ring post in the corner and then snaps his body around it. More “GOLDBERG” chants in Buffalo. Ryback keeps Punk grounded with a headlock. Ryback with a big release overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Ryback drops a quick leg, covers and gets a two count. Ryback with a big splash in the corner and then stands on the head of Punk. Ryback with kicks to the back of Punk and cuts off a Punk comeback. Ryback dumps Punk over the top rope and then follows with a big kick to the head. Ryback continues to keep Punk grounded with another headlock. Punk fights to his feet and Ryback pulls him back down keeping the headlock applied. Punk turns over and drops some big forearms to the head of Ryback. Punk catches Ryback with a boot in the corner. Ryback misses a charge hitting the corner with a thud. Punk with more kicks to the knee, elbows and another mid section kick.

Punk with another shot and swinging neckbreaker combo on Ryback. The crowd in Buffalo starts to get riled up. Paul Heyman grabs the microphone and introduces himself as “the best in the world! I pinned CM Punk with both hands tied behind my back. And why? Because I was…” and Ryback attacks Punk. Ryback with a huge powerbomb on Punk, goes into a cover and Punk kicks out after two. Ryback continues pinfall attempts and each time Punk kicks out. Heyman is yelling at Ryback to powerbomb Punk again. Punk counters a second powerbomb attempt and slightly catches Ryback with a kick to the head. Punk drops Ryback near the corner and starts climbing up the top turnbuckle. Punk stands up and connects with his flying elbow. Punk hooks the leg and Ryback powers out after two. Ryback counters a high knee from Punk and Punk then counters with a huricanrana takedown. Punk has Ryback up for a GTS. Ryback counters out and plants Punk with a big powerslam, hook of the leg and Punk again kicks out. Ryback with big shots to Punk in the ropes. Heyman grabs a kendo stick from under the ring and the referee sees this telling him to drop it. While this is going on, Punk hits Ryback with a low blow boot with the referee distracted. Punk covers Ryback for the win.

Winner: CM Punk

After the match, we see a shot of CM Punk smiling and an upset Paul Heyman at ringside. Ryback rolls out of the ring in pain.

We hear from the WWE Battleground panel again. They all predict a Daniel Bryan victory.

We had a brief power outage in Buffalo as the video package aired hyping the main event.

Justin Roberts handled the ring introductions for Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton.

The bell rings and here we go. Lock up and Daniel Bryan with a side headlock takedown. Randy Orton quickly drops Bryan with a shoulder tackle. Orton with a series of kicks and a side headlock takedown of his own. Bryan catches Orton with a big dropkick early. Bryan drops the forearm of Orton over his shoulder two times and then lights up his back with kicks. Orton with a knee to the head of Bryan repeatedly. Bryan catches Orton with a big knee and connects with more body kicks backing Orton to the corner. Bryan with a dragon screw takedown and keeps Orton grounded driving his knee into his shin. Bryan drops some big elbows on Orton. Orton crotches Bryan over the top rope, Bryan hangs on and Orton with a big clothesline knocking Bryan off the top rope. Bryan catches Orton witha knee in the corner, but Orton quickly counters into a snap powerslam resulting in a close two count. Orton keeps Bryan grounded with another headlock. Orton catches Bryan with a big knee to the gut as he came flying off the ropes. Orton dumps Bryan over the top rope and gets another two count. Bryan is tossed over the top rope, hangs on, locks the head of Orton with his feet, tosses him over, flips back in the ring and connects with a big suicide dive through the ropes. Bryan tosses Orton back in the ring, comes off the top turnbuckle, Orton catches Bryan and plants him with a quick powerbomb. Orton then gets a Boston Crab applied on Bryan. Bryan is crawling and trying to break the submission. Orton pulls Bryan back out to the middle of the ring.

Bryan counters and gets a close two count. Orton bails. Bryan misses a baseball slide, Orton grabs Bryan and tosses him into the steel ring steps. Orton tosses Bryan into the Spanish announce table and the steel ring post at ringside. The referee is continuing a count. The referee reaches 8 when Orton tosses Bryan back in the ring, goes for another cover and gets a two count. Orton mounts Bryan and connects with some big right hands. Orton gets Bryan up on the top turnbuckle and connects with a big superplex from the top! We see a great slow motion replay of the superplex. Orton and Bryan exchange shots. Bryan starts to get the better of them. Orton cuts off Bryan with a kick and backslide for a close two count. Bryan with a big kick to the head on Orton. Bryan tries to suplex Orton back in the ring. Orton counters and instead gives Bryan a suplex over the top rope and Bryan crashes on the outside. Orton clears off the Spanish announce table. Orton attempts a powerbomb on Bryan. Bryan counters, kicks the body of Orton and sends Orton shoulder first into the steel steps at ringside. The referee is continuing a count and Bryan breaks the count at 9. Bryan goes up top and takes out Orton with a big dive on the outside. Bryan tosses Orton back in the ring and climbs back up to the top turnbuckle. Bryan jumps and connects with his flying headbutt. Bryan hooks the leg and Orton gets a shoulder up after two. Bryan connects with a knee in the corner, now a dropkick, a second dropkick and now a third leaping dropkick to Orton.

HUGE reaction from the crowd in Buffalo chanting “YES! YES! YES!” repeatedly. Bryan with kicks to the chest of Orton. Orton counters a shot to the head and connects with an overhead release suplex on Bryan. We see a slow motion replay and they note how hard Bryan landed on his shoulder. Orton with his DDT through the ropes on Bryan. Bryan counters an RKO. Orton with a roll up. Bryan counters into the Yes Lock. Orton is trying hard to fight out. Big Show’s music hits. Big Show pulls the referee out of the ring. Bryan breaks the submission and yells at Big Show asking what he is doing. Big Show with a knockout punch to Bryan. Bryan is out. Big Show puts his hands on his head and is upset. We see Brad Maddox calling for another referee. Referee Scott Armstrong is back and walking down to the ring. Orton covers Bryan. The referee starts the count. Big Show pulls the referee out after the second pinfall count. Big Show knocks out referee Scott Armstrong. Orton is not happy. Big Show gets in the ring. Orton is calling Big Show stupid. Orton is yelling, “You’re going to be in trouble!” Orton pushes Big Show and Big Show lands a knockout punch. Orton is out. Big Show fires up the crowd in Buffalo. Brad Maddox is shocked at the top of the ramp.

Winner: No Contest

Big Show’s music hits. We go off the air with him yelling, “No more!”
