Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler welcomed us and let us know all about an ?incident? between John Cena and Batista that took place after the show went off the air. Hornswoggle drove Carl Edwards? NASCAR out to the arena before Kelly Kelly introduced him to the crowd.

Edwards came traipsing down to the ring and hot dogged for the fans a little before grabbing the mic. He even gave us a back flip. Edwards got a big face pop for putting over the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. He put over the Daytona 500 coming up before talking about his friend John Cena. Just as he went to continue, WWE Champion Sheamus came waltzing down the ring with a mic in hand.

Sheamus said speaking of Super Bowls, he was going to Wrestlemania in seven weeks as WWE Champion before demanding to be the last participant in the Elimination Chamber. All of a sudden, ECW Champion Christian’s music hit and he came out to the ring. Christian kind of botched a bad joke before Sheamus chimed in.

Christian said he was a bit offended. He said in two weeks time, ECW would be going off the air and be replaced by something new. Sheamus said that made Christian a lame duck champion. Christian made fun of him. Christian said in two weeks, everyone on ECW would be a free agent. He said he thinks his peeps on Raw miss him.

Sheamus vs. Christian

The two locked up and Christian got shoved hard backwards. Sheamus Christian blocked a follow up on an Irish whip charge only to get hit with an overhead slam after getting greedy on a cross body attempt. Sheamus clothes lined Christian to the floor as we went to commercial break.

Christian was fighting out of a rest hold before catching the champion with a kick. Sheamus charged Christian up against the ropes only for the ECW champ to duck down and send Sheamus reeling to the floor. Christian hit a tope to the outside. Sheamus reversed a whip and sent Christian into the ring post before slamming him into the barricade to take the advantage.

Sheamus started to work on Christian’s arm and got a one count for his efforts. Sheamus worked a great looking hammer lock. Christian fought out of the hold and came fighting back and planted a great right hand slap. Christian hung Sheamus up on the top rope before hitting a flying European upper cut. Christian hit a few punches to Sheamus? head before getting caught by the Champion and almost tossed with an exploder. Sheamus missed the bicycle kick but connected with a polish hammer. He missed a follow up in the corner where Christian hit his flip kick and a missile drop kick for a two count.

Christian got decked with the pump kick before Sheamus nailed the Celtic cross for the win.

Winner: Sheamus via pin fall

HBK is in the back not fretting about the Undertaker stuff. He said DX could be part of Wrestlemania for the first time. Triple H tells him that might not be the case. The Elimination chamber is for the title, and that’s what things are all about. HBK says ‘so it’s all about you know, eh? and walks off.

Footage of Batista destroying John Cena after Raw ended last week aired.

Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase are in the back arguing. Ted Dibiase says he’s better than Cody. Randy Orton walks in and tries to put both of them in their place. He said tonight, Ted Dibiase is facing John Cena. He said he appreciated what Cody was trying to do a few weeks ago. He praised his effort in failure. He said tonight, as a reward, he?d face? him.

CM Punk came out for the match tonight and cut a promo. He ran down the Super Bowl celebration and Mardi Gras. He said these people do awful things because they were weak. He ran down the Subway guy, Jerrod in the third row, trying to convince him to be the spokesperson for the straight edge society. Punk said he was going to make an example of him. Luke and Serina went down to Jerrod before DX’s music hit.

We came back to Punk going for a cover on Michaels. Big Show came into the match and began head-butting everyone. Show whipped Punk into the corner on top of Michaels before charging both and promptly missing both. Triple H tagged in as well as Luke Gallows.

Triple H and Gallows went at Big Show, who fought both off. Show began laying in body shots on Gallows before hitting him with frying pan in the opposite corner. He gave one to Triple H before hitting a good short arm clothesline on Gallows. Triple H came ringing out with right hands and loaded up a pedigree, only to get back dropped to the outside.

The Miz backs CM punk up before Triple H clotheslines The Miz inside out. The Miz eventually hits his clothesline on CM Punk before getting ripped off the ropes by Sarena Deeb. It ends up with HBK and Punk where Michaels goes into victory sequence. He goes to the top rope and looks for the elbow drop and connects.

Michaels began tuning up the band only to get take out by Luke Gallows. Punk loaded HBK up for the GTS only to sweet chin music the crap out of Punk and cover him for the pin fall.

CM Punk & Luke Gallows have been eliminated

Big Show hits a big double clothesline and worked over Michaels for a little while before Show missed a charge in the corner. Michaels hit another boot to Show’s face (I know), before Show picked him up and hit a side slam for a two count.

Miz hit a running knee neck breaker counter on Michaels before measuring him up for the skull crushing finale. Michaels fought out with back elbows only for Show to catch the tag. Triple H swallowed Miz up on the hot tag, only for Michaels to tag himself in impromptu. Triple H and Michaels argued as Miz sneaked up and rolled Michaels up for the clean pin fall and the tag belts.

Santino Marella is in the back with Jerrod and Carl Edwards. After some back and forth, Santino gets a sandwich card and a match on Superstars with Jack Swagger. Kofi comes in and proposes that Carl Edwards make matches next week between all six participants in the elimination chamber. They?re going to leave the stipulations up to next week’s host?.. Jerry Springer.

Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes

Orton hit a hard right hand backing Cody up. Cody caught a Russian leg sweep before loading Orton up for Cross roads. Orton hung Cody up on the top rope before picking him up and booting him in the mid section. Cody flailed at Orton who placed him on the top rope and attempted a super plex. Cody fought him off and went for a cross body and whiffed badly.
Orton looked for the RKO only for Sheamus to pop up out of nowhere and hold Orton’s leg. The distraction allowed Cody to hit cross roads for the win.

Winner: Cody Rhodes via pin fall

After the match, Sheamus hit the bicycle kick on Orton, leaving him in a heap. Cody chased him off with a chair.
Footage of John Cena getting power bombed onto the ring steps aired next.

Randy Orton will be facing Sheamus. Dibiase will get Kingston and Cena will fight Triple H.

Ted Dibiase vs. John Cena

Cena charged right at Dibiase and began smashing him with right hands before throwing him over the top rope and to the floor. Cena went out to the floor and tossed Dibiase hard into the barricade. Cena was seething. He slapped on an STFU on the floor and refused to break the hold on the floor. Dibiase passed out on the floor before Cena went to grab a mic. Apparently the match never started.

Winner: NO CONTEST

Cena said he wasn?t here to have a match. He said he wants to fight Dave Batista. He said last week, he was sent down to Raw to take him out and it didn?t work. Cena called Batista out and demanded he finish the job. Cena said he wasn?t going anywhere until he got here.

Cena’s still going when we come back. Cena says that means he’s either scared for his life as he should be, or he did what he did because of a business decision. Cena said he looked McMahon in the eye and called him pathetic. Vince doesn?t like being embarrassed, so he was attacked. He said he had a feeling Vince was behind this. He said if he couldn?t fight Batista, he’s like to talk to Vince McMahon.

Vince comes out with ten security guards. He said Vince was an idiot to think that?d stop him. He told Vince to come out with a tank. He said Vince could come into the ring so they could talk like men, or he could send them all in, he?d maul them, and then he?d be even angrier once he got to Vince.
Vince acquiesced and came into the ring. Vince said he was man enough to step into the ring. Vince said they?ll do this man to man. Vince said he was the ultimate, supreme alpha male. Vince said when God created earth, he didn?t have Adam in mind, he had HIM. Vince said he screwed Bret yet again. Vince said he SPIT~ right in his face. He said it really felt good and he enjoyed it immensely.

Cena asked why he?d come after him. Vince said maybe it was because he eliminated Batista in the Rumble. Or maybe it was because Batista didn?t like him. Vince said he didn?t like Cena. Personally at least? Cena cut him off and said Vince did wrestling for money. Cena said he does it for the moments, and for the love of the game.

Cena said he couldn?t put a price that on that. Cena said he?d tough out the elimination chamber, and he?d go to Wrestlemania as champion. Cena said Bret Hart does this for the moments too, and he wanted another one?. Another match.
He said Bret Hart wanted to wrestle Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania. After more back and forth, Vince agreed to the match. Cena said everyone knew now? he only had one other person to tell. Vince began spouting off some more and showed a video from last week before Hart came rumbling through the crowd and leapt into the ring and jumped Vince.

Vince was able to escape thanks to the security guards. Bret hammered the security guards before ripping apart all the equipment in the ringside area.

Bret stood in the ring as we went off the air.

RAW THOUGHTS

Show Thoughts– A show with a lot of ups and downs, but for the most part, Raw delivered tonight.

Of the Monday Night Raws in the past three or four years, this might have been the most UN-WWE Monday Night Raw I?ve seen in a long time. You got a lot of younger talents going over more established talent, and clean at that.

In my view, you?re either dumb or delusional to not see that the Miz has surpassed John Morrison in just about every conceivable way one tag partner can to the other. His mic work is great, his ring presence is excellent and surprisingly, he did the bumpin? Buddy Roberts routine for Big Show tonight better than Chris Jericho had the last few months. The sneaky roll up win really lends itself nicely to the opportunistic nature of the Miz character, who IMO, pulls off the ?cunning? gimmick much better than Edge ever has. He’s really come along nicely, even though a lot of folks considered him the dud of the duo.

Cody Rhodes getting a pin fall on Randy Orton is even more wild, as he’s been billed as the third pigeon of that group by a pretty substantial margin. I like how they?re taking their time with Legacy and avoiding playing into the hype of one guy over the other like they did with Miz/Mo. This has been more gradual, with more oomph and tact behind it. While Ted may have more upside, Cody’s probably the better performer given his current role. It’s good to see them being quite a great deal more judicious with this duo.

The Bret-Vince program is such a weird duck at this point.
We kind of know two things: 1.) The WWE has done an excellent job of building up Bret Hart and making him relevant in this feud again. 2.) Despite doing just about everything right, Bret’s just not popular enough anymore to equate to an angle that can carry a Wrestlemania buy rate on it’s shoulders. Bret looks awkward in front of the camera and things aren?t fitting so well right now. This would be a nightmare without Vince McMahon and to a lesser degree, John Cena in it.

Everything else looked good. Christian was treated as a big deal tonight and put on a good match with Sheamus. For a guy who gets the ?generic WWE big man? tag, the dude has an awfully deep move set. While Sheamus certainly doesn?t blow me away, it’s obvious to me at this point that he’s got talent.

Overall, this was another solid show. The tag triple threat was a mess, and many of the matches were very much ?just there?, but it was a decent enough show from a segment standpoint.

Overall Grade: C+
