Scorpion King reboot reportedly in the works

According to a report by Deadline, Universal Pictures and Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Production is looking to relauch a new Scorpion King movie.

Jonathan Herman who wrote “Straight Outta Compton” is said to be writing the script for the new movie.  Johnson and Garcia will produce the movie along with Hiram Garcia.  It is also being said that with Johnson booked through 2022, the studio will look at a new actor to play the Scorpion King, as also look at a director for the movie.

Movie insiders are saying it is likely that Johnson will not make an appearance in the new movie.  However, there is always possibility he could still make it into the movie once it finally does go into production.

The plot details for the new movie are vague at this time.  However sources do say that unlike the original movie, this one will be set in modern times.

The original Scorpion King film followed a desert warrior that rises up against the evil army that is destroying his homeland.
