This week’s Impact Wrestling opens up with highlights from last week focusing on James Storm’s World Title win with clips of him talking about his win and what the win meant to him. He says that Angle made a mistake and he made Angle pay for it. Storm emphasizes that they’re still Beer Money and that will never end and he talks about being in TNA from the beginning while clips of his early days on the Independents as well as clips from TNA’s beginnings with Storm as a member of AMW are shown. Storm says his dad told him when he was young he could do anything he wanted to and he always wanted to be the World Champion. Storm says that he keeps thinking this is all a dream and is waiting for someone to pinch him and wake him up, but whoever ends up pinching him and waking him up he’s going to punch that guy in the face.

James Storm’s new entrance music hits and the World Heavyweight Champion makes his way down to the ring. Storm says he wants to take a moment and thank his father. He says he remembers back in the day watching WrestleMania 3 with his dad and he told his dad that one day he wanted to be a Pro Wrestler and he wants to be the Champion. Storm says he heard everyone telling him all his life that he wasn’t big enough, quick enough, pretty enough and he didn’t kiss enough to make it but he doesn’t kiss nobodies ass and he made it. Storm looks up to the sky and says, “dad, I’m the champion!” Storm thanks the fans and he says the fans helped make his dream come true and now he wants to bring out a group of guys and say something to.

Fortune makes their way down to the ring. Roode, Kaz, and AJ throw up the Fortune symbol on the stage and Storm throws it back to them from the ring. Storm talks about the lyrics in Fortune’s music saying “Fortune 4 we’re about to change some things” and Storm says Fortune has definitely changed some things. Storm says everyone knows Roode was screwed out of his dream at BFG so last night at the bar Storm came up with a great idea. He offers Roode the first shot at the belt! Storm and Roode shake hands but then Samoa Joe’s music cuts them off.

Joe walks down to the ring as Fortune wanders what the deal with this is. Joe says he used to be a part of that little group with those guys that used to fight the fight that held them down, and then he congratulates Storm on winning the belt, but he says he sees the same 4 scumbags that were standing there before Storm got the belt. He says he sees another Bischoff, another Immortal trying to keep it all in the family. Joe says judging by Storm’s hillbilly background that’s probably not hard for him to keep it in the family. Joe asks if AJ will get the next shot and then Kaz and then Storm’s “Cousin Elmer.” Joe says Storm is going to prove everybody wrong and give that title shot to the most dominant force to ever step foot in TNA, Samoa Joe.

Storm says Joe can call him a long hair redneck but all he sees in Joe is a dumb bitch. Storm says it’s a new era and Joe already had his window closed on him. Storm says Joe does have a good idea so maybe after Roode then AJ and Kaz get shots because they bust their asses every week on the road. Storm points out all the losses Joe has had lately and asks why he thinks he should jump to the front of the line. Joe says he should jump ahead because Storm is about to give a shot to a man who already failed miserably to win the belt.

Sting’s music hits and he walks out onto the stage. Sting says this dispute is why he’s here! He says both Joe and Roode have a point so since he is the judge and jury it’s time for him to rule. Sting says tonight Samoa Joe will face Bobby Roode in a #1 Contenders Match, winner faces James Storm for the World Title next week in Macon, GA on Impact Wrestling! Joe laughs at Roode and leaves the ring.

In the back Daniels says he never said “I Quit” in the match with AJ at BFG and he’s looked into it. Daniels claims AJ recorded audio from earlier interviews Daniels did and says he did the “audio equivalent of photoshop.” Daniels says those are the lengths AJ will go to, to beat him because he can’t. Daniels says that “Bob Van Dam” can’t beat him either and he’ll show that tonight.

“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. “Whole F’N Show” Rob Van Dam

Clips of the Daniels-AJ I Quit Match from BFG are shown as Daniels comes to the ring. Tenay talks about RVD and Lynn putting closure on their rivalry at BFG in the Full Metal Mayhem Match. Daniels and RVD lockup and Daniels gets RVD in a Waistlock, but RVD counters with an Armdrag. RVD locks in an Armbar but Daniels rolls RVD over into a 1 count. Both get to their feet and Daniels goes for a clothesline, but RVD ducks and then rolls Daniels up with a Body Scissors for a nearfall of his own. Both men get to their feet and stare each other down. They lockup again and this time Daniels gets RVD in a side headlock and then RVD shoves him into the ropes only to eat a shoulder block from Daniels. Daniels hits the ropes and then RVD drops down into a split and then rolls backwards for an attempt at a Monkey Flip but Daniels cartwheels over him. Daniels trips RVD and rolls him up for another nearfall as AJ walks out to the announce table. AJ says he agreed to do guest commentary but he should be down at the ring beating the piss out of Daniels. In the ring Daniels hits RVD with a knee to the gut and then tosses him into the corner. Daniels tries it again but RVD blocks it with his foot and then kicks Daniels in the face followed by a Standing Moonsault! 1…2…NO Daniels kicks out! RVD picks Daniels up and Daniels tries to kick him but RVD catches his foot. RVD spins Daniels around and then goes for a Spin Kick but Daniels ducks and then drop toe holds RVD into the turnbuckles. Daniels puts the boots to RVD and then hits him with repeated elbows to the back. Daniels hits the ropes and connects with an STO for another nearfall. Daniels whips RVD into the corner and charges but RVD gets his boot up. RVD connects with a series of right hands but Daniels comes back with a Rock Bottom in mid punch. Daniels goes for the BME but RVD rolls out of the way and then connects with a Stepover Heel Kick! RVD hits a clothesline followed by a 2nd one. He then connects with a Superkick! RVD hits a Rolling Monkey Flip and then connects with a Springboard Flying Back Kick! RVD goes for Rolling Thunder but Daniels rolls out to the floor so RVD decides to follow him out with a Slingshot Plancha onto Daniels on the floor! RVD rolls Daniels back into the ring and then goes for the 5-Star Frog Splash! Daniels rolls out of the way and out of the ring again. RVD hits a Sliding Dropkick through the ropes sending Daniels into the guardrail! RVD hangs Daniels up on the guardrail and then and then hits the Corkscrew Guillotine Leg Drop on Daniels on the guardrail! Daniels reaches under the guardrail as RVD comes to grab him and Daniels nails him with a toolbox!

Winner: RVD via DQ

Daniels pulls a screwdriver out of the toolbox (like he did at BFG) but AJ runs down to ringside and chases Daniels through the crowd. AJ and RVD shake hands and RVD thanks AJ for not letting Daniels rip his eyeball out (or whatever he was going to do).

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Karen Jarrett’s music hits and she leads Gail Kim & Madison Rayne down to the ring along with a reluctant Traci Brooks. Gail grabs a microphone and she says everyone can stop with the e-mails, tweets, and texts asking her “why Gail?” Gail says it’s none of the fans damn business and she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. She says the reason that the “goody too shoos” Gail Kim came out and gave Velvet Sky a concussion last week is because her entire career all she ever did was do what she was told to do, first in TNA and then at that other company. She says that probably would have happened again if it wasn’t for the person that finally had her best interests at heart, Karen Jarrett. She says Karen made her realize that it’s not about the company and its damn sure not about the fans. She says it’s all about her, it’s about her being the center of attention and noticed. She says it’s about her being treated like the Main Eventer that she always was and always will be.

Karen says she promised Gail that if she came back to TNA and stood by her side that it would all pay off so at Turning Point Gail will get her shot at the Knockouts Title against Velvet. She says the sooner they get the belt off that “prostitute” and back on the greatest female wrestler in the world the better. Gail says she won’t let Karen down as the fans chant “we want Velvet.” Gail says she wants a piece of “Fresh meat” so she can show her greatness. Tara’s music hits!

Gail Kim w/Karen Jarrett, Traci Brooks, & Madison Rayne vs. Tara

Tara power walks down to the ring looking pissed off but as she tries to get in the ring Gail hits her with a knee through the ropes! Gail tosses Tara into the apron and then back into the ring. Gail hits Tara with a clothesline to the back and then slams her face to the mat repeatedly. Gail beats on Tara on the mat and then taunts the crowd and slaps five with Madison & Karen. Tara tries to fight back but Gail cuts her off. Gail whips Tara into the ropes and goes for a backdrop but Tara stops and kicks her. Tara then hits the ropes and eats a big clothesline from Gail. Gail grabs Tara’s head and starts screaming at her and talking trash and then she tosses Tara out to the floor. Gail then drags her back up on the apron and Hip Tosses her over the top back into the ring.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Back from the break Gail is choking Tara in the corner with her boot. Gail hits a knee to the gut and then a European Uppercut. Gail whips Tara into the corner and then Gail charges but Tara moves out of the way. Gail stops her momentum with her boot on the middle turnbuckle and then hits Tara with a back elbow. Gail then locks in the Spinning Octopus on Tara! Tara counters out with a Sidewalk Slam! Tara hits Gail with chops and then a series of clotheslines. Tara hits a Rolling Neckbreaker! 1…2…NO Gail kicks out! Tara picks Gail up on her shoulders for something but Gail grabs the top rope to block it and then drop toe holds Tara into the middle rope. Gail chokes Tara on the ropes and then she hits the Eat Defeat (Inverted Stomp Facebreaker) for the pin!

Winner: Gail Kim via pinfall (Eat Defeat)

After the match Karen and Madison celebrate with Gail while Traci checks on Tara. They make Traci raise Gail’s arm.

Jeff Hardy in the back says that it’s official, he’s back. His first match back will be against Bully Ray tonight, he says he and Bully go way back and they haven’t faced each other in awhile. He says he’ll find out how ready he is to be back tonight.

Ric Flair & Eric Bischoff arrive to the arena and Flair tells Eric that he has to give his son tough love to make him snap out. He’s got to be tough on him.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

TNA World Television Championship
“Showtime” Eric Young (c) vs. Robbie E. w/Rob Terry

They have velvet ropes at the bottom of the ramp and Terry opens it up for Robbie to come down. They’re calling Terry the “bouncer” for Robbie. The beatdown Terry put on Young last month for Robbie is shown as they come to the ring. That halfwit, Young, is still wearing the old TNA World Title belt. Young lockups with the referee before realizing who he is and then he attacks Robbie. Young whips Robbie into the ropes and connects with a Flying Clothesline. Young attempts to whip Robbie into the corner but Robbie reverses it and Young does his Ric Flair impression by flipping over the top rope to the apron. Young does the fist pump and then hits a shoulder block through the ropes on Robbie and then he slides under Robbie’s feet and hits a Belly-to-Belly Suplex! Young goes for the Piledriver but Terry gets up on the apron to distract Young. Robbie hits a backdrop and then charges at Young in the corner but Young gets his boots up. Young hits a Crucifix Rollup! 1…2…3!

Winner & STILL TV Champ: Young via pinfall (Crucifix Rollup)

Terry attacks Young from behind after the match. Terry holds Young while Robbie beats on him.

As Robbie and Terry start to leave Young grabs a microphone and says next week he’s buddy from the Jersey Shore, Robbie, is coming to Impact in Macon, GA!

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

In the back Daniels on the phone with someone talking about “doing the podcast with Colt” (I’m guessing Colt Cabana) and all he wants to talk about now is getting a title shot. Kaz walks in and says the stuff with AJ has to end. Daniels says there’s nothing now, he beat AJ and that’s it. Kaz suggests Daniels come out to his house in Cali to talk to him and work all this stuff with AJ out.

Bully Ray cuts a promo and asks if Jeff Hardy pissed in Sting’s corn flakes to piss him off bad enough to make Hardy face Bully in his first match back. Bully says he and Hardy have made history together and have been all over the world together and he can make Hardy’s first match back his last match back. Bully says he never respected Jeff because “rehab is for quitters” (DAMN)!

A video package of all the stuff Garrett Bischoff has done (going back to the bad calls he did in the Hardy-Morgan matches). Garrett says he idolized his father growing up which caused him to be brainwashed by his dad. He says when he saw Eric trying to take Sting out at BFG he knew what he had to do.

Eric Bischoff makes his way down to the ring. He tells the fans to sit down and shutup because he has some important family business to take care of. He says he tries to keep his business life and personal life separate but unfortunately his son has made that way more complicated than it needs to be. He calls Garrett out to the ring and his son comes on down. Eric says that he conceived him so he could follow in Eric’s footsteps. He says that he didn’t waste perfectly good semen (yes I am dead serious, he said that) for a failure. He says from the first time Garrett followed him into the AWA studios to watch him work, and he says he gave Garrett the opportunity to learn the business because he knew that some day he could depend on Garrett but he let him down. Eric says he embarrassed him and the entire Bischoff family. Eric says he could kick Garrett’s ass in front of everyone right now but he won’t do that (yet) because he’ll give him what he normally doesn’t give anyone: a 2nd chance. Garrett says he doesn’t want this to go down like this but Eric says he doesn’t give a damn what he wants and calls him a selfish little prick. Eric says he’ll give Garrett 30 minutes to think about because at the end of the night he’ll come out and apologize to him or he’ll kick Garrett’s ass.

In the back Ric Flair says Garrett Bischoff is a punk kid living in his dad’s shadow and he’s pissed that Garrett was looking at the fans instead of looking into his dad’s eyes. Flair says he’s going to make Garrett have some respect.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK———————————————–

Flair approaches Garrett Bishcoff in the back and Garrett calls him “Mr. Flair” but he corrects Garrett and says he should call him GOD. Flair says he was excited when he heard Garrett was trying to get in the business but now he knows he’s a little punk. Flair says Garrett isn’t big enough, man enough, and doesn’t have the balls to be where his dad’s already been. Flair says that’s what’s wrong with the business today, they’re breaking in punks. Garrett keeps trying to say something but Flair cuts him off. Flair says his dad needs to kick Garrett’s ass in front of everyone and teach the little punk some respect. He says this is a sport for men not for whiny babies. Flair says he might just come out and kick his ass too. He shoves Garrett repeatedly and he tells Flair “sorry” as Flair walks away.

A video package hyping Jeff’s return to the ring and all of his drama in the past months and his beef with Jeff Jarrett is shown.

Jeff Jarrett makes his way out to the ring. Tenay says that when it was announced that Dixie Carter and Sting had added Jeff Hardy back to the TNA roster, Jarrett went nuts. Jeff says that they forgot one piece of footage in that video package, the video from Victory Road. He says he knows Hardy doesn’t remember but he’ll never forget it. Jarrett says they should air the footage of Jeff Hardy Main Eventing Turning Point 2006, but they can’t because that footage doesn’t exist. Jeff Hardy no-showed the event (to be fair, it was a Pre-Show Match and it was 2005). Hardy’s music interrupts Jarrett and he walks down to the ring. Jarrett looks like he’s ready for a fight right off the bat.

Hardy hits the ring and the brawl is on! Hardy hits Jarrett with a clothesline and then they start exchanging right hands until security runs out and separates them. Bully Ray sneaks in behind Hardy and attacks him. Ray and Jarrett high five each other.

“Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray

Ray then goes for another Elbow Drop but Hardy rolls out of the way. Hardy tries to come back with right hands but Ray cuts him off and nails him with a big chop. Ray picks Hardy up and then goes for another Corner Splash but Jeff gets his boots up. Hardy then hits a running clothesline followed by a Guillotine Leg Drop off the top! 1…2…NO Ray kicks out! Hardy hits the ropes again and Ray catches him with a backdrop! Ray then goes for a Splash but Hardy moves and connects with the Twist of Fate! Hardy climbs up top and hits the Swanton Bomb! 1…2…3!

Winner: Hardy via pinfall (Swanton Bomb)

At ringside Christy Hemme approaches Hardy and he welcomes all the fans back into his life. He says this was a big start for him to get back into things but Jeff Jarrett comes through the crowd and jumps Hardy! Jarrett tosses Hardy back into the ring and Bully Ray hits him with the chain! Jarrett pulls out a table but before they can put Hardy through it Mr. Anderson runs down to the ring and chases Hardy & Ray off.

In the back Roode says he has a chance to go after his dream again tonight if he can beat Joe. He says Joe is another obstacle for him to get to his dream.

He calls his son down to the ring.

Garrett walks down and Bischoff says before his son apologizes he needs to get something off his chest. Eric says he forgives Garrett for what he did and he understands how it is to be young and dumb. He tells Garrett to go ahead and apologize and then they can move on. Flair and Bischoff continue stomping him and then finally leave Garrett laying.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Tonight started off really hot but then slowed down at the TV Title match and picked back up at the Hardy match but for the most part I enjoyed the show picking back up from last week’s dreadful show (despite high ratings).

The opening segment with Fortune was great and though Samoa Joe’s character doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near a Title shot they at least acknowledged that fact, and I’m really not going to complain about Joe being in a Main Event at this point (which is pathetic because he should be in them consistently). I like Sting as an authority figure and he offers a lot more there right now than in the ring, but good lord give him a title. I don’t care if it’s “Commissioner” or “Head Ball Coach”, anything is better than calling him “authority figure” every week.

RVD/Daniels was really good while it lasted and it seems like RVD needs someone that is as athletic as him to keep him interested in matches at all or he’ll just walk through the motions. Daniels is playing the delusional chickensh*t heel well.

Gail Kim cut a nice promo, and that’s got to be the first time she’s talked on a microphone and damn near a year. That little match was also the longest she’s been in the ring in a LOOONG time. She didn’t seem to have much rust and it was a solid match, which both Tara and Gail usually have. Her true test will be against Velvet at the PPV. Velvet is limited and struggles at time so we’ll see how much rust (if any) she has. Gail hasn’t been a heel in TNA since she was with Americas Most Wanted way back in the day so this is something fresh for her. They really need to tell us why Karen is still allowed to run the Knockouts and why Bischoff is still allowed to be even there. It’s something simple, just say they’re going to honor their contracts. Simple as that but they haven’t acknowledged it at all yet.

Then things started to go downhill some with the TV Title Match. Young is a talented wrestler but his comedy routine has never done anything for me. He just doesn’t do it well and this was pointless, and that belt means less than the WWE Divas Title. I could also care less about that douche Ronnie from the Jersey Shore.

All of the Bischoff/Bischoff stuff did nothing for me and I could REALLY care less about this entire angle. I have no desire to see Garrett wrestle Ric Flair, his father, or anyone else for that matter. It really hurt coming on AFTER the Main Event rather than before.

Things picked back up with the Hardy/Bully Ray match. They put on a nice little match and continued 2 storylines (Ray/Anderson and Hardy/Jarrett). Letting Hardy do house shows before he wrestled on TV was a great idea because he looked to be in shape here and had little rust.

The main event was an excellent TV Main Event. Both guys worked hard and put on a good match. Next week’s Main Event should be very interesting to see where they go from here. I was a little disappointed to see this match take place next week rather than at Turning Point, though.
