Ryan Nemeth’s lawsuit against AEW will continue in private arbitration.
POST Wrestling notes Nemeth submitted filings last Friday and on Monday to voluntarily dismiss his lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. AEW filed on Monday to dismiss their petition in U.S. District Court in Florida, which was to force Nemeth into arbitration.
Back in September 2023, Nemeth filed a formal complaint to AEW Executives against CM Punk. He alleges Punk abused him, harassed him and threatened him. He also claims his allegations went unaddressed by AEW management and that AEW “silently fired” him over his issues regarding Punk. Nemeth also alleges Tony Khan conspired to blacklist him from the professional wrestling industry. Nemeth current wrestles for TNA Wrestling.
This past February, Nemeth filed a complaint in court against Philip Brooks (CM Punk), AEW and Khan. The report also notes that AEW began petitioning the court last month, citing the arbitration clause in Nemeth’s talent contract which purportedly requires any disputes to be handled in arbitration.
The report further notes that court filings do not indicate the reason for the dismissal of the parties’ respective cases, but Nemeth’s attorney, Mike Caspino, confirmed in a statement to POST Wrestling the new filings are not the result of an out-of-court settlement.
“There has been no settlement. The parties have agreed to submit the matter to arbitration.”
A representative from AEW did not respond to POST Wrestling in a request for comment to their report.
