Former champion pulled from AEW Summer Blockbuster due legitimate injury

According to Fightful and F4WOnline, the backstage angle done on Wednesday night’s AEW Summer Blockbuster with Komander getting taken out by The Hurt Syndicate, was done as a way to write him off television due to a legitimate injury.

The Hurt Syndicate took Komander’s mask, as he was shown on the ground, holding his knee, with the commentary team saying as a result of what transpired from earlier in the day, the former ROH World TV Champion was not medically cleared to compete.

Mascara Dorada took his place, joining “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight against MJF, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, with Hurt Syndicate getting the victory.

At the time of both reports, it was not known the extent of Komander’s injury, as he wrestled in a trios match on last week’s AEW Fyter Fest special.
