AEW introduces new title for Omega/Okada match at All In

During the contract signing segment on Wednesday’s AEW Summer Blockbuster, between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada for the winner take all title match at All In Texas, AEW. introduced a new championship.

It was revealed by Tony Schiavone the new Unified Championship will bring together the International Title and the Continental Title.

After both men signed the contract, Don Callis came out running his mouth belittling Kenny Omega, who said he knows all of Callis’ tricks. Then from behind, Okada attacked Omega, who had to be taken out on a stretcher. Okada attacked Omega two times on the stretcher, with Omega coughing up blood After the vicious attack was done, Okada and Callis were shown running to the back inside parking lot, with Callis saying he and Okada needed to leave, as they hopped into a vehicle and speed off.

It was later announced during the second half of the show, that Omega was taken to an area hospital in the Portland area.

Omega has held International Champion since winning it from Konosuke Takeshita at the Revolution PPV this past March, while Okada has been the Continental Champion since winning the belt from Eddie Kingston on the March 20, 2024 episode of Dynamite.

Fightful Select notes that according to sources, the match between Omega and Okada to headline All In Texas, has been in the works for about a year, with plans going back as last December. It was also said with the announcement just over 1,400 tickets sold for the All In Texas PPV, which takes place on Saturday, July 12 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

It was added that sources confirmed the Continental Classic tournament is expected to continue going forward.
