Report: TNA open to ‘opposing AEW’ amidst media rights negotiations

The Takedown on SI is reporting that TNA Wrestling is considering some major changes to their weekly programming as the company continues its ongoing media distribution discussions.

In light of WWE’s deal with ESPN being made official, TNA President Carlos Silva indicated that there is “positive momentum” in the negotiations, following a previous statement that new media rights could be lined up around Bound For Glory in October.

Speculation on where IMPACT could land has also taken a new turn, with sources revealing that there have at least been discussions of TNA moving the show to a WWE-associated network, and even changing its time slot from Thursday to Wednesday nights in an effort to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

Silva acknowledged in a previous interview that CW and A&E were in the running for TNA programming.

WWE currently runs NXT on Tuesday nights on CW, with A&E hosting WWE-produced documentary content and WWE LFG.
