WWE SmackDown kicks off with aerial shots of San Jose and the SAP center.
We cut to clips of Crown Jewel and Seth Rollins on Raw. We see The Vision turning on Seth.
Cody Rhodes
Live in the arena, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis is in the ring. He welcomes everyone to the show. He says there is a match tonight between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu. Aldis says that match is now a number one contender’s match for the WWE Championship. The winner will take on this man.
Cody’s music hits and out comes Cody Rhodes. He gets in the ring and the fans chant “Cody”. He says at Crown Jewel, Seth Rollins beat him for the Crown Jewel Championship. It split him to the bone to do so and he thinks he and Seth do not need to be in the ring together ever again. But that’s not how it works around here. You don’t need 20/20 vision to see that Seth has issues with the Bron’s and with the Oracle. He says Seth needs to handle his business and he will handle SmackDown business.
Cody holds the WWE Championship and says the business of SmackDown is being with them all in the Bay area to watch a number one Contender’s match. He says he heard Aldis say it earlier, who will it be, Drew McIntyre? The fans boo. Will it be someone they are familiar with, someone from around there, the Samoan warewolf, Jacob Fatu.
He says he will be ready, it’s Friday night, the lights are on bright and the road to Saturday Night’s Main Event runs through San Jose. Cody’s music hits as he throws the microphone.
Solo Sikoa, the MFTs and Rey Fenix
We cut to the back and see Solo Sikoa with MFTs. They stop at a WWE camera man taking pictures of Rey Fenix. Fatu tells the camera man to take pictures of them. Rey says he is not done. Rey and Solo are face to face but Tama Tonga hits Rey and Solo tells him that when he says they are done, they are done. Talla Tonga throws Rey into WWE equipment. In come WWE officials and they break it up.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair make their way down to the ring.
-Commercial Break-
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match – Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair (c’s) vs. Sol Ruca and Zaria
Blake Monroe is at ringside. The bell rings and we are under way. Flair and Sol start the match. Flair with an arm bar but Sol rolls out of it and gets Flair into an arm bar of her own. Flair gets out of that and both women are on their feet. Flair is thrown to the turnbuckle but she flips over and hits Sol with a kick. Flair with a big boot onto Zaria. Flair gets in the ring and she hits Sol with a kick to the side of the head. Alexa is tagged in and they double team Sol. Zaria is tagged in. Bliss jumps onto Zaria’s back but Zaria throws her onto the mat. Bliss gets back up and she hits her with right hands a dropkick. Bliss grabs Zaria but Zaria with a modified spine buster.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Zaria grabs Alexa and climbs the second rope. Alexa with elbows to the face and both of them fall onto the mat. Zaria grabs Bliss and throws her into the turnbuckle. Sol is tagged in and Sol with a spinning slam. Zaria is tagged back into the ring. Sol climbs the top rope and she goes for a splash but Bliss moves out of the way. Bliss with a kick onto Zaria and she throws Sol to the outside. Flair is tagged in. Sol gets back in the ring and Flair with a cross body off the top rope. Flair with chops to the chest and Sol falls to the outside of the ring. Flair with a clothesline onto Zaria followed by kicks to the face. Flair with a modified suplex. Flair goes for the cover but Zaria kicks out. FLair with a waist lock but Zaria grabs the ropes. Sol is tagged in and Sol with a springboard clothesline. Sol with a right hand onto Bliss. Sol with a German suplex onto Flair. Sol climbs the second rope and goes for a drop kick but Flair catches her and she gets her in a modified Boston Crab but Sol gets out of it. Sol gets in the corner, Flair runs towards her but Sol moves out of the way. Sol with the Soul Snatcher. She goes for the cover but Bliss breaks it up. In comes Zaria and she throws Bliss to the outside of the ring. Zaria goes for a baseball slide but Bliss moves out of the way. Bliss gets on the ring apron and goes for a hurricanrana but Zaria catches her and throws her into the barricade. Flair on the outside and she hits Zaria with a kick to the side of the head. Sol jumps off the second rope and slams Flair down onto the mat.
We see Blake Monroe at ringside clapping and that distracts Sol. Flair with a chop block onto Sol’s knee. Flair throws Sol back into the ring and she gets her in the Figure Four but Flair lets go of it. Flair with a knee to knee. Flair with the Figure Four and into the Figure Eight and Sol taps out.
Winners: Still WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair
Bliss and Flair help Sol and Zaria back to their feet.
We cut backstage and Cody is stopped by Jacob Fatu. Both men are face to face. Fatu welcomes Rhodes to the Bay area, San Jose. He says when he is finished dog walking Drew from San Jose to Oakland to San Francisco, even the Bay bridge, he will show Cody the real him. And Cody will know that Jacob Fatu is all gas and no brakes.
We see clips of Aleister Black and Zelina Vega after Black’s win against Damian Priest last week.

A video promo of Aleister Black with Zelina Vega airs. He says everything he has done has been a calculated move. He and Zelina say this was always their plan. Black says they are what they would call a necessary evil. Zelina says the venom isn’t poison, it’s salvation.
We see clips of Shinsuke Nakamura’s match against Sami Zayn. We see The MFTs interfering.
Sami Zayn, Nick Aldis and The Miz
We cut to The Miz who is backstage with Nick Aldis. Miz says he wants it to be big and Aldis says he will take it into consideration. In comes Zayn who tells Aldis he is not even on the show tonight. Aldis says he wants Nakamura to have a proper rematch but Nakamura is still in Japan. And the MFTs are already causing problems tonight. Zayn says that is not how things work, that is not how he works. He won’t be bullied or in the shadows because of them. He says the united States title means something to him, to the fans, to the guys in the locker room. Zayn says he is going to go to the ring and defend his United States title. Aldis turns around and Miz is still there. Aldis asks him if he needs something else and Miz says he is good and walks away.
-Commercial Break-
Zayn is in the ring for the United States challenge. Out comes The Miz with a microphone. He says he is so sick of these opened challenges, treating that title like a charity. Out comes Carmelo Hayes from behind and he hits Miz. He throws Miz into the LED board of the entrance. Out come WWE officials who break it up and The Miz runs to the back.
Out comes Ilja Dragunov to the ring.
United States Championship Open Challenge – Sami Zayn (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov
The bell rings and we are under way. Zayn extends his hand and they shake hands. Both men with right hands. Zayn to the ropes and Ilja with a forearm to the face. Zayn gets back up and he hits Ilja with a clothesline. Zayn with a chop to the chest. Zayn goes for a suplex but Ilja lands on his feet. Ilja with a waist lock but Zayn with an elbow to the face. Zayn to the ropes but Ilja with a forearm to the face. Ilja with a knee followed by a boot to the face.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Zayn with a clothesline. He goes for the cover but Ilja kicks out. Zayn with a forearm to the face but Ilja with an uppercut. Ilja with kicks but Zayn with an elbow to the face. Zayn jumps off the second rope and lands a tornado DDT. Zayn goes for the Helluva Kick but Ilja with a kick to the face. Ilja goes for the cover but Zayn kicks out. Ilja with a German suplex and keeps the waist lock on Zayn but Zayn with elbows. Zayn gets out of it and rolls Ilja but Ilja kicks out. Zayn with a German suplex and another German suplex. Zayn with the waist lock but Ilja gets out of it. Ilja with elbows and he picks Zayn up and slams him onto the mat. He goes for the cover but Zayn kicks out. Ilja climbs the top rope and jumps, Zayn moves out of the way, Ilja lands on his feet and Zayn with the Michinoku driver. He goes for the cover but Ilja kicks out. Zayn with a chop to the chest and Ilja falls onto the ring apron. Zayn on the ring apron. Ilja with elbows and he lifts Zayn up but Zayn with elbows. Zayn lifts Ilja up and Ilja’s left shoulder lands onto the second rope and they fall to the outside of the ring.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Ilja with the senton onto Zayn. He goes for the cover but Zayn kicks out. Ilja places Zayn on the second rope. Ilja with chops to the chest and Ilja climbs the second rope. Ilja climbs the top rope and he lands a superplex. Ilja goes for the H-Bomb but Zayn gets his boot up. Zayn goes for the Helluva Kick but Ilja moves out of the way. Ilja lifts Zayn up and slams him onto the mat. Ilja goes for the cover but Zayn kicks out. Ilja with a big knee to the face. He goes for the cover but Zayn kicks out. Ilja to the ropes and he lands a clothesline. Ilja runs but Zayn with a kick to the face. Zayn with the Blue Thunder Bomb. He goes for the cover but Ilja kicks out.
We see Solo Sikoa on the ramp and that distracts Zayn. Solo waives his finger and leaves to the back. Ilja runs towards Zayn but Zayn with the exploder. Zayn goes for the Helluva Kick but Ilja with a Torpedo Moscow followed by the H-Bomb. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: New United States Champion, Ilja Dragunov
Zayn gets to his feet and Dragunov celebrates in the ring. Both men are face to face but out come MFTs who attack both men.
Out comes Rey Fenix but he is stopped by Talla Tonga. He chokeslams Rey down onto the mat. Solo Sikoa grabs a microphone but the fans boo. He asks them if they forgot. Solo says MFTs run SmackDown. They are going to get everything that his family lost and he will make his family tree Champions again.
The lights go out and we see a promo video of Bo Dallas. He says knock and the door will be opened but are you prepared for what is waiting on the other side. The video cuts and we see The Wyatt Sicks behind the, on the ring apron. Both teams are face to face.
The Wyatt Sicks get in the ring and the MFTs leave the ring.

We see clips of WWE’s tours of Australia and Japan.
Highlights of the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship match between Tiffany Stratton and Stephanie Vaquer airs.
Cathy Kelley is backstage with Tiffany. She tells Cathy that she won’t pretend that she is happy about losing but Stephanie is a great Champion and took her to her limits. She has been undefeated for a year and one loss won’t change anything.
In comes Kiana James who says she knew Tiffany didn’t have what it takes and she only represents talent like Giulia. Tiffany tells her that maybe she doesn’t have it. Those who can do and those can’t, represent. She challenges her to a match next week and Kiana James accepts.
We cut to the Motor City Machine Guns. A video of them earlier during the day airs. They talk about how it only took them two weeks to win the WWE Tag Team titles. In come Angel and Berto. They tell the Motor City Machine Guns that when they started, they looked like a Ferrari and now they look like their grandfather’s lawnmowers. Sabin asks them if they remember who they beat in their first match and it was them.
Sabin says since it has been one year that they are in WWE, they challenge them to a match tonight.
The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Los Garza
The bell rings and we are under way. Alex and Angel start the match. Berto distracts Alex and Angel hits him with right hands. He gets Alex is a head lock but Sabin is tagged in. They double team Angel and Angel falls to the outside of the ring. Sabin kicks Berto to the outside. Sabin with a suicide dive onto Los Garza on the outside of the ring. Sabin throws Angel back into the ring. Berto holds onto Sabin’s leg and Angel with a kick to the face. Angel with a chop to the chest. He goes for a splash in the corner but Sabin moves out of the way and Alex is tagged in. Alex goes for a splash in the corner but Angel moves out of the way. Berto is tagged in and they double team Alex.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Angel goes for a right hand on Shelley but Shelley with a neck breaker. Berto is tagged in and he grabs Shelley by the leg. Shelley kicks him away and Sabin is tagged in. Sabin with a cross body off the top rope followed by a double clothesline. Sabin with a release German suplex onto Angel. Sabin with a roll up on Berto but Berto kicks out. Sabin gets Berto in the corner and Shelley is tagged back in. They double team Berto. Sabin is tagged back in. They double team Berto but in comes Angel who super kicks Shelley. Berto with a sit down power bomb onto Sabin. He goes for the cover but Babin kicks out. Angel is tagged in. Angel with grabs Sabin and he tags Berto into the ring. They double team Sabin. Berto goes for the cover but in comes Shelley who pushes Angel onto Berto to break up the cover. Angel and Shelley fight to the outside of the ring. Berto with a splash onto the Motor City Machine Guns on the outside of the ring. Berto throws Sabin back into the ring. Angel is tagged in and they grab Sabin but Shelley tags himself in. Berto is thrown to the outside of the ring. Shelley on the top rope and they land Skull and Bones. Shelley goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winners: The Motor City Machine Guns
We cut to Fraxiom backstage who were watching the match. They talk about the tag team division. In come DIY who tell Fraxiom that they will not win the Tag Team titles. Ciampa says they have been staying out of the way that way the Street Profits cannot point their fingers at them. He says the Street Profits are choke artists, Fraxiom are delusional and Los Garza are losers. Axiom challenges Johnny Gargano to a match and Fraxiom leave the locker room.
Jacob Fatu’s music hits but we cut to Nick Aldis and WWE officials running backstage. We see Jacob Fatu down with equipment on top of him and blood on the floor and blood coming out of his mouth.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Nick Aldis and WWE officials are with Jacob Fatu. Drew’s music hits and Aldis walks away.
Out comes Drew McIntyre to the ring smiling. Drew says “Bleeding Gums Fatu is all gas no brakes”. He tells the referee to raise his hand of the new Number one contender. The referee refuses and out comes Nick Aldis. He tells Drew that he doesn’t know what happened with Fatu but it is bad. He says if he finds out that Drew had anything to do… Drew cuts him off and says he had nothing to do with that. He always has to jump through hoops, he tells Aldis that they have known each other for 20 years. He says he better not be working for Corporate Cody. Out comes Cody Rhodes who says enough. The fans did not want to hear him talk, they wanted a number one contender match.
Cody says they should give the fans something right now. Cody says to do their match right now. Drew to the outside and Cody with right hands.

WWE Undisputed Championship Match – Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
Back from commercial, Drew and Cody are fighting on the outside of the ring. Cody throws Drew in the ring and Cody gets in the ring. The bell rings and we are under way. Cody goes for a splash but Drew moves out of the way. Drew throws Cody across the ring. Drew with right hands. Cody throws his vest onto Drew and hits him with right hands. Drew with chop throat and he throws Cody to the mat. Cody throws Drew in the corner and Cody climbs the second rope and hits Drew with right hands. Cody to the ropes but Drew with an elbow to the face. He goes for the cover but Cody kicks out. Drew with a modified arm bar but Cody gets to his feet. Cody with right hands but Drew with a kick and a futureshock DDT. He goes for the cover but Cody kicks out.
Drew with a chop to the chest followed by kicks and right hands. Drew with a chop to the chest but Cody with right hands. Drew with a headbutt. Drew grabs Cody but Cody with a right hand. Cody with the Cody Cutter. Drew to the outside of the ring and Cody goes for a suicide dive but Drew with an elbow to the face. Cody to the outside and Drew throws him into the timekeeper’s area. Cody hits Drew with the Undisputed Championship and the referee calls for the bell.
Winner: By disqualification, Drew McIntyre
Cody clears the announce table but Cody with a rake to the eyes. Drew lifts Cody onto his shoulders but Cody with elbows to the face. Cody slams Drew face first onto the announce table. Both men on the announce table and Cody grabs Drew but out come WWE officials and Nick Aldis who break it up.
Cody gets away from security and he climbs the top rope. Cody with a splash onto Drew and the WWE officials. Cody gets in the ring and WWE officials hold Drew back. Cody’s music hits and SmackDown goes off the air.
