WWE Hall of Famer feels like ‘a doting uncle’ with success of Cody Rhodes

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Arn Anderson was asked it was like as a viewer to see Cody Rhodes defeat John Cena at SummerSlam, winning his second WWE Championship in the process.

The WWE Hall of Famer, who has close with the Rhodes family since the days of his rivalry with Cody’s father Dusty, talked about his pride in seeing Cody succeed:

[I felt] Like a doting uncle. Very, very proud of him. Because he did it the right way. He had a tough road to climb being Dusty Rhodes’ son. You know, most people don’t realize, he’s always going to be compared to his dad.

That’s not fair, because nothing about him is like his dad was. They were both megastars in different ways, different eras, in different times in the business. I would just say his dad would be very proud.

Anderson served as Cody’s on-screen advisor in AEW, and even made a special appearance with the American Nightmare last year.

Rhodes is set to defend his title against Drew McIntyre on the November 1 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
