Report: Update on TNA media rights future

The Takedown on SI has reported that a new network has entered the conversation regarding a potential media rights deal with TNA Wrestling.

Following speculation on the likes of A&E and CW showing interest earlier this year, AMC is now being touted as a “potential landing spot” for the company’s programming.

AMC, home of premium cable TV show offerings such as Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead, has never aired pro wrestling on the network, but it may be worth noting that they were in talks with Billy Corgan in 2014 for an untitled wrestling project involving Chicago-based independent promotion Resistance Pro.

Corgan was also briefly president of TNA in 2016, before purchasing the National Wrestling Alliance the following year.

It is unclear as of this writing what changes might be made to IMPACT once a new media rights deal has been reached, but TNA President Carlos Silva has been open about such changes as a live show every week.

The report comes as TNA continues its partnership with WWE, and is set to be a part of the upcoming NXT Gold Rush special from The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday, November 18.
