Despite her most recent appearance on WWE Raw leading to Stephanie Vaquer being attacked backstage, new reports from PWInsider Elite and Fightful Select have revealed that situation behind the scenes may not be as serious as initially feared.
The reigning WWE Women’s World Champion delivered an in-ring promo that gave the impression to some that she could be stepping away from television for a period of time, a concern amplified by the aforementioned segment that saw Raquel Rodriguez attempt to take out “La Primera.”
One source noted that while Vaquer’s ankle injury is legitimate, the belief is that it will not keep her sidelined long-term and considered minor enough that WWE does not anticipate needing to have the title relinquished.
It was also noted that the champion wearing a walking boot rather than a hard cast was a positive sign that a serious injury was avoided.
WWE is said to have flexibility on how they use Vaquer moving forward, potentially stretching plans toward Elimination Chamber depending on how her recovery progresses.
