Update on Royce Keys following WWE Royal Rumble debut

According to a report from Bodyslam.net, Royce Keys was backstage at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia at this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.

Bodyslam notes internally, the expectation is Keys will be part of Friday Night SmackDown. The publication wrote, “Sources indicate to BodySlam that Keys was backstage at RAW on Monday, and word was that he will be part of the SmackDown roster moving forward.”

Keys, who was known as Powerhouse Hobbs in AEW, let his contract with the company expire last month. His final appearance was back on the January 17 episode of Collision, which was taped on January 14. He took the pin as The Opps dropped the World Trios Championships to Hangman Adam Page and JetSpeed.

Soon after his AEW exit, the 35-year old former AEW TNT Champion signed a deal with WWE and made his debut at last Saturday’s WWE Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. He first made his debut with AEW in 2020, after being a part of Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory.
